Hello everyone can I use this birth certificate for k1 visa submition or I should use to whom it may concern birth certificate

Re: USA Fiancee (K1) Visa Thread by Treasureprince1: 2:24pm On Nov 11, 2021
@Shilam i suggest you take down the photo of your birth certificate and maybe reupload blurring your personal details, if you were born after 1991, this is fine at the embassy but if you were born in/before 1991 kindly go with “attestation of birth” obtained from national population commission, i will still advice you go ahead and obtain an attestation of birth regardless of when you were born because you’ll definitely need both during your “Adjustment of status” process after you enter the US. All the best to you

i don’t know what that means, are you referring to affidavit? Please visit the nearest NPC office and request for ATTESTATION OF BIRTH, that’s the only standard one i know, when coming to the United States ensure you come with both the birth certificate (the sample you posted earlier) and attestation of birth. You’ll need both when adjusting your status

Please how long did it take you to get interview date after your case was received by Embassy.

I
had my interview today and was approved at the spot. Can't even express my joy, for like 30 mins after my interview I thought I was dreaming, after all my preparation the vo didn't even ask for any documents. It can only be God.....

I almost missed my appointment for 8:30 because I got there 8:25 because of traffic but na God pass them. After I pass security I was called inside to window 3 to submit my documents to a black lady - ds 160, birth certificate, police certificates (Senegal and Nigeria) passport style photo and W-2 forms(2020), petitioner divorced certificate, visa payment receipt, then the lady took my passport and told me to wait, after 30 the VO white guy in his 30s, called my name. This is how it went.

VO -

How did you meet?
When did you meet?
Has she visited?
When did she visit?
So you proposed to her when she visited?
Has she made a second trip?
Me: we actually planned a second visit last year but due to codvid it was not possible. (VO typing in the computer for about 2 mins)
VO-
How long have you been in Senegal?
What is your work?
Does she has kids?
Does the kids live with her?
Have you spoken to her kids?
(VO typing in the computer again for about 3 mins)
How do you communicate?
What is your fiance address?
Where are you going in the United States?

Then the magic words follow : come back next week to pick up your visa, he then gave me a ticket. Hurrayyyyyy. Through the interview the VO did not ask for any documents.

Good day all. I don’t know how to type my concerns. Anyways, my passport is expiring next year July. My interview is next year January. My passport validity will be exactly 6 months on a day before my interview.
Problem:
As soon as I scheduled my interview in July and I got a date for next year, I proceeded to renew my passport cause I no wan hear story(na the story I dey now). August 4th, I completely all I needed for the application , did my biometrics… all the gbogbotigbo. After 3weeks, I came to check the status, they said it’s being processed (don’t remember the word they used). Then a month later I came and status Indicated “no record found”. Ah! I asked the officer, he said it may be a system glitch that it will correct itself and I shouldn’t worry but to come back in another 3weeks. I got there and this thing is still saying “no record found”. Met with some senior officers who did wan thing wan thing on the system. The other one even requested for my file(file that I already submitted). At the end of the day they told me to not worry that my passport will be ready soon. Ready soon on top no record found abi , ok oh. I sha took their words with a grain of salt.
Question:
Provided that I don’t get my passport next month,
What do I do?
Can I postpone my interview?
Should I abort payment for medicals? Cause if I pay for medicals and miss my interview, it will be a waste of money.
Pls I need advice as I’m very unsettled by this. Nigeria wan wound me so.

Go ahead with your interview schedule. Even if your passport expires (in this case yours is not yet expired. Don't worry I'm aware of the 6-month validity), you will still be interviewed. Sounds strange right? I had a friend whose passport expired on a Sunday (immigrant visa class) and his interview was on the next day Monday. He had applied for a new passport and was tossed up and down by the Passport Office for 16 weeks. I advised him to call the Visa helpline. He called and was asked to come in for his interview with the expired passport.
To cut a long story short, his visa was approved and he was given a letter to submit his new passport whenever he gets it. It took about 6 weeks after his interview for his passport to be ready. He sent it to the embassy (UPS VI drop-off address) and his visa was issued.

He is in the USA now for about 5months.

So, if you have any concerns as regards to this, reach out to the US Visa helpline.

Hello great people. I appreciate everyone who have contributed meaningfully to this thread. You guys are the bomb.

Please who has received message from NVC this November. Our case was received since October 21st and my fiancee has called NVC just last week. She was told that US embassy in Nigeria gave instruction to NVC to stop sending cases to the embassy. The reason for the temporary suspension is still unknown.

Please is there a phone number to reach US embassy in Lagos for enquiries on this issue. If it is COVID related, we need to know.

Guys please I need clear answers on two issues I have seen on VJ.
1) is it difficult to get interview dates here in Nigeria?
2) when filling ds160 can one still use the same email that has been used for a previous application?

The reason for the second question is that someone posted that the portal keeps bringing his old details back whenever he tries to pick an interview date.

Sorry I just saw this ... I will post my transcript which I posted on visajourney site because I can’t remember all ‘cos it’s been a little while:

CO: I can see its your fianc who petitioned for you

CO: How long have you guys known each other?

CO: How does she gets to the US?

CO: How many times has she visited?

CO: How long is she staying this time around?

CO: What does she do?

CO: Whats her role at the place of work?

CO: Do you have a relative at the US?

CO: I see you’re from Nairaland (she smiles and I was so surprised how she figured out ... we then started talking about Nairaland gist and how she usually help people there - basically Nairaland gist for like 2 mins of the time. - It was the VO who usually responded to questions on immigrants section that was transferred few years ago)

CO: Ok. All your paper works are perfectly in order and your responses are as it contained in the papers therefore I am approving your visa.

CO: You will need to get me another co-sponsor and submit the docs along with your passport to this address on this sheet (handed me a white paper with an address) and then pick up your visa two weeks after you submit same.

She didnt check any of the evidences/documents I went with (I had just 7 pics with me lolz)

(I GOT ANOTHER SPONSOR 4 DAYS AFTER MY INTERVIEW AND SUBMITED MY PASSPORT THEREAFTER, MY VISA WAS PRINTED 7 DAYS LATER)

All thanks to God, my fiance for her support, all members of VJ and the amiable CO on Nairaland ... God bless y'all and wish everyone in this journey a very goodluck ...

Thank you
Please I would like to send a message to you.

Did my medicals today. Will update you guys how it went here:

I chose to use Qlife because they were the only ones that replied me when I sent enquiry mails to the two hospitals. I got there around 6:45am, wrote my name with the Security Guard (very important) and then went back to my car.

At some minutes past 8am, they then called us in.

Please make sure you take a 4 by 3 passport photographs (5 copies), it's way smaller than the conventional 2 by 2 passport stipulated by the US Embassy. Also go with your appointment letter and the email printout from NVC that has your Case Number. Also you will need your international passport, 2 photocopies of your data page, immunization records (if you have) and of course, your ATM card.

You will undergo X-ray to screen for tuberculosis, your blood will be drawn to test for syphilis, you will be vaccinated with IPV, MMR and TT, those will protect you from polio, mumps, rubella, tetanus, etc. Your blood pressure, weight and height (BMI) will be measured. The Doctor will then examine you after taking your medical history. Your urine sample will also be taken.

It took me a little over 2 hours. I was done around 10:30am or thereabout

It's quite an extensive procedure and the result comes out in 2 weeks time, I'm told.

I guess this should help someone out there.

Please can I drop a message for you.

National Visa Center (NVC) Immigrant Visa Backlog Report
Last updated November 2021

Since March 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically affected the Department of State’s ability to process immigrant visa applications. U.S. embassies and consulates are working to resume routine visa services on a location-by-location basis as expeditiously as possible in a safe manner. However, the pandemic continues to severely impact the number of visas our embassies and consulates abroad are able to process. The particular constraints vary based on local conditions and restrictions, but include local and national lockdowns; travel restrictions; host country quarantine regulations; and measures taken by our embassies and consulates to contain the spread of COVID-19. On Feb. 2, 2021, President Biden issued Executive Order (E.O.) 14012 on Restoring Faith in our Legal Immigration Systems. Though we continue to face real and persistent challenges in the age of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are committed to resolving the immigrant visa backlog and transparently sharing the current status of our worldwide visa operations, while remaining dedicated to the safety of our staff and applicants, and the national security of the United States.

Number of IV applicants whose cases are documentarily complete at NVC and ready for interview as of October 31 = 490,089

Number of documentarily complete IV applicants scheduled for November 2021 interview appointments = 28,964

Number of eligible IV applicants still pending the scheduling of an interview after November 2021 appointment scheduling was completed = 461,125
