You're wrong in your assertion. Marcus Alonso was arguably the best left wing back under Conte's Chelsea but was utterly dreadful under Sarri and Lampard because they played back four.
He's doing much better now that Tuchel has gone back to a back 3, coincidence? I dont think so.
Playing a back three has its advantages.
How many times, you have a defensive cover invariably making it easier for you to push up, make overlaps and sometimes drift infield into midfield.
That is the leisure James is enjoying right now.
A full back is similar to a wing back but the differences is glaring.
I'm not doubting James's abilities but I am saying He's enjoying attacking freedom because of the system the club operates, which I believe will be hinder if he plays as a right back in a back four.
Compare his stat when he was in a back four vs Arnold, when you do, we shall then decide who is better.
If you've got no better fact based argument against this, then You've got no valid point but sentiments.

Anything arnold do. James can do it better. It is crossing, assists , defence or goal. Just name it.

And mind you that Arnold is not that good defensively. The likes of kieta, fabinho and van diyk are protecting that wing.

Whether Chelsea play massive defense or attack. James will still play well. But if it is Liverpool then I don't think Arnold can stand the pressure.

Arnold is arguably epl best passer of the ball behind Debruyne, a better crosser of the ball, better in all offensive ramifications.
People count his defensive woes. Yes I understand that. But if you play Arnold in that Chelsea team, that has a back three and two pivot midfielders, with one playing a libero, bro, you've got all the license to go forward and not worry too much about back yard.
How many times do James playing as a back 3, get isolated in 1 v 1 against the offensive team winger?
He many times does he get over worked in a 2 v 1, offensive transition by the opponent.
It rarely happens, because of team structure.
So, he has have less tha 1 season of high productivity and now he is better tha Arnold who has been doing the same thing for the last four season, in and out?
He has had double epl assist in the last 3 seasons and he has 6 already this season.
