Burger king has always been my fav whenever I've been out of the country..I've always preferred it to Mcdonalds and the others. I visited a few days back in V.I and was really impressed. I jus can't wait to see how their menu evolves to cater for the Nigerian market

Re: Burger King Hits Nigeria by Kobojunkie: 3:27am On Nov 27, 2021 |
LIVINGICON:Our local cuisines already do that enough to our people... no try to pin that one them alone abeg! |
Re: Burger King Hits Nigeria by Kobojunkie: 3:28am On Nov 27, 2021 |
daddytime:The fat wey thick us finish better pass? For Pete's sake we still bake cakes using shortening and we deep fry most everything we can. No be dem do that. Rather we should collectively work towards better fat content management instead. |
Re: Burger King Hits Nigeria by Nobody: 5:46pm On Nov 27, 2021 |
Kobojunkie: That is where you get it wrong. You see those Western junks, they come with empty calories and no nutrients. |
Re: Burger King Hits Nigeria by Kobojunkie: 5:53pm On Nov 27, 2021 |
LIVINGICON:Please stop. We have similar foods in our local diets, the most common of which are garri, fufu etc. |
Re: Burger King Hits Nigeria by Nobody: 6:11pm On Nov 27, 2021 |
Kobojunkie: You are kidding right?? Garri in water and beans or my fufu and vegetable soup with lots of protein. Perfect combos. |
Re: Burger King Hits Nigeria by Kobojunkie: 7:07pm On Nov 27, 2021 |
LIVINGICON:Lots? You actually think here you are talking to an slowpoke or something? |
Re: Burger King Hits Nigeria by Mariangeles(f): 7:07pm On Nov 27, 2021 |
Kobojunkie: Seriously? Do you eat garri or fufu alone? |
Re: Burger King Hits Nigeria by Kobojunkie: 7:11pm On Nov 27, 2021 |
LIVINGICON:Ok. Be specific, what Western "junk" are you here referring to and what equivalent Nigerian "junk" do you consider better? |
Re: Burger King Hits Nigeria by Kobojunkie: 7:12pm On Nov 27, 2021 |
Mariangeles:Does not eating garri and fufu alone somehow remove from the fact that their nutritious values are near zilch? A person who for example only drinks soup alone, or maybe with one potato or two, benefits a great deal more in terms of nutrients from eating that than from eating fufu and garri with the same soup. |
Re: Burger King Hits Nigeria by Mariangeles(f): 7:15pm On Nov 27, 2021 |
Kobojunkie: The truth is they’re hardly eaten alone. |
Re: Burger King Hits Nigeria by Kobojunkie: 7:21pm On Nov 27, 2021 |
Mariangeles:Please, you say that as if our soups are darn so nutritional to begin with. Anyways, the point isn't a western thing at all. Many of our local foods also provide us no real nutritional value- they are empty calories - but we eat them anyways. There is a place for all those so-called empty calories in our diets. |
Re: Burger King Hits Nigeria by Sterope(f): 7:35pm On Nov 27, 2021 |
They are fermented, that is consolation itself Kobojunkie: |
Re: Burger King Hits Nigeria by Kobojunkie: 7:36pm On Nov 27, 2021 |
Sterope:Um.. fermentation is what in fact further strips them of nutrients. Cassava that is newly harvested is more nutrients laden than the garri finished product. |
Re: Burger King Hits Nigeria by Mariangeles(f): 7:49pm On Nov 27, 2021 |
Kobojunkie: Really? What soups have you been eating? |
Re: Burger King Hits Nigeria by Kobojunkie: 7:52pm On Nov 27, 2021 |
Mariangeles:Which of your soups guarantees this high nutritional content you tout? See, I am not against our foods in anyway... I just like us to be honest about these things is all. |
Re: Burger King Hits Nigeria by Mariangeles(f): 8:01pm On Nov 27, 2021 |
Kobojunkie: Kobo, abeg try edikangikong soup, afang soup, or waterleaf soup, then come back make we talk. |
Re: Burger King Hits Nigeria by Kobojunkie: 8:05pm On Nov 27, 2021 |
Let's look at the possible nutritional content of ewedu soup for instance. The ewedu portion looks like it still has life in it, but the nutrients in the stew have had the life deep fried and cooked out of it. So apart from the small meat portion, which serves as source of protein, and the green of the ewedu, everything else is probably just empty calories in the plate. 1 Like

Mariangeles:waterleaf soup ke? Waterleaf wey you no fit cook 3 minutes before it begins to look dead and all the water and nutrients don vamoose the leaf finish? |
Re: Burger King Hits Nigeria by Mariangeles(f): 8:12pm On Nov 27, 2021 |
Kobojunkie: It depends on how you cook it. Edikangikong and afang nko? |
Re: Burger King Hits Nigeria by Kobojunkie: 8:20pm On Nov 27, 2021 |
Mariangeles:You are right that it depends on how you cook it, but let's also be honest here, we typically cook our soups almost an hour, right? And in time, all water soluble nutrients have pretty much escaped the soup leaving mostly the non-water soluble nutrients. |
Re: Burger King Hits Nigeria by Mariangeles(f): 8:26pm On Nov 27, 2021 |
Kobojunkie: Whenever you’re ready and I have the time, I’ll teach you how to cook vegetable soups the proper way. |

Re: Burger King Hits Nigeria by Mariangeles(f): 8:36pm On Nov 27, 2021 |
Kobojunkie: I’m serious. As a person who’s passionate about Nigerian foods, it is my duty to change your misconception about Nigerian food. |
Re: Burger King Hits Nigeria by Kobojunkie: 8:40pm On Nov 27, 2021 |
Mariangeles:You misunderstand me. I don't have a misconception about Nigerian food, and be sure I know not to cook my soup for 1 hour abeg... in fact, my green leaves go in as I turn the stove off. However, the vast majority of Nigerians do not cook there foods with a nutrition conscious mindset neither do they properly understand these things enough for you or I to claim all out soups are nutrient laden. |
