He's actually right though, individuals with the AS genotype have better resilience to malaria parasites. The mortality rate of malaria decades/centuries ago was very high, that it kills even faster and more than most other deadly diseases. Thanks to the advancement in the pharmaceutical and medical fields though, genotype is not relied upon in our age to overcome malaria.

You’re right. This sickle cell thing is prevalent among black Africans even in America and India. I read about it some time back. But in India, they have another version of it, ours is SS, theirs is CC or so.

AS will always find partners, nothing like AA will not want to be with them. Na relationship, and not everybody is going to date or marry for procreation.

Which brings me to why the Developed world rarely have this issue.

First, a lot of them are marrying because of companionship, not procreation. So, if they discover that the procreation may not be possible, it will not matter as much to them, as it does to Africans that mostly marry to procreate.

Secondly, their scientific advancements allows for selection processes. So, if AS and AS marry, there are ways to find out if the child will be SS, and then remove the child. Of course, this is a very painful and hectic process for all parties involved, especially the woman, but it is a process.

However, the main reason, is that, the Sickle Cell trait exists only in black people, so, white people do not have to bother about it as much. The white people that have this trait, usually have black ancestors somewhere in their lineage, but it is generally not a white people issue. They have other genetic problems.
