Another type of Omicron-like variant has been detected from a Nigerian man that flew to Queensland recently. This type of Omicron has not been detected or reported elsewhere before.

I fear that Nigeria will mostly be banned by most countries if not all.

Forget SOUTH Africa's cases, Nigeria was their main target. Those that failed to enforced or make mandatory the admin's of the vaccines.

Okay. That's fine. The instance I drew was one used by another Unsw student who is in your shoes. I do not know about converting single to couple. Maybe you can email the provider(s) for clarification

Alright, thank you.

Dear All,

Please I want to ask something. I have a scholarship from UNSW for a Ph.D. but I do not have money for couple health insurance as UNSW said they will only refund the health care ( for me alone) when I am in Australia. Now I want to ask is it possible that I buy two single medicare insurance which is around 3068dollars each instead of buying couple? Then when we get to Australia one can get money and buy the couple one later.

Congratulations to you and wifey.

Please, how did you apply for this scholarship? I am currently a bsc holder; first class degree.
I am looking at the possibility of getting a scholarship to study in Aussie.
The fact that this your own scholarship allows you to move with your spouse, is super amazinggggg!
Can you please explain how you applied?
Thank you in advance, for your response.

Yes, you can always convert single to couple/essential insurance easily at any time, but personally, I would advise you try and go for the couple at once.

Yes your siblings can sponsor you. Even your aunt or uncle. The most important thing is you being able to prove the strong connection between you and your sponsor to justify the reason why S/he is sponsoring you.

seunfoster:
Hello everyone, please I would like to know if sibling is acceptable as sponsor for VISA application. What I saw on the VISA application page talks to only parents and spouse. I did not see sibling anywhere in the evidence of financial capability section. Someone with most recent experience should help clarify if using sibling as sponsor is fine and it will cause no issue.

Thank you in anticipation of your responses
Re: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by seunfoster: 3:34pm On Dec 09, 2021
It does make sense, thank you.

NB1912:

There are two categories of sponsors;

1. Applicant, Spouse or Parent: They can show evidence of income that they earn at least $60k AUD/year or evidence such as a bank statement that shows one year of tuition fees and living expenses.

2. Sibling, Uncle/Aunt, Cousins or In-law : Evidence such as a bank statement to cover one year of tuition fees and living expenses. In most cases, the bank statement needs to be for at least 3 months and shows evidence of income.

Please note that for AL1 schools, you might not need to show any evidence of financial capacity when applying for visa, however, it is good practice to have it handy as the case officer can request for it at anytime during the visa process. I am sure a couple of people have mentioned in previous post on this thread where the case officer requested for an updated bank statement.

I hope that makes sense?

I feel taking a deep breath and proper planning is the best possible solution at this point, one can not just act because of fear and then rush into something much more worst than the expected.
What if you get in and get locked down? No work? Paying bills with no source of income? I personally do not feel they will open their boarder after almost 2years of being locked and then shut it back immediately

Another angle is for those of us who deferred till next year, one clause in the visa states that you can not work until you start schooling, how then do you enter a country 2-3 months to your resumption, rent an apartment you pay weekly with NO WORK? (someone already in should please enlighten me on this, would really appreciate it)

Next is the exuberant cost of flight booked within a short time, that is obviously going to cost a fortune
How many of us can afford that?

In my own humble opinion, if you can afford the cost well, it’s worth the risk, if the burden is too much please don’t put yourself in a worst off position.
Good luck to everyone

P.S Please anyone based in Brisbane should please please and please again indicate so I can reach out, I need help and clarification, thank you.

I am not in Brisbane but I am in Qld.

FG RETALIATES, BANS AIRLINES COMING INTO NIGERIA FROM UK,CANADA AND SAUDI ARABIA
The Federal Government of Nigeria has decided to restrict Airlines coming into Nigeria from UK, CANADA and SAUDI ARABIA.
Capt. Hadi Sirika, on Sunday 12th December 2021 announced the decision taken by the federal government to restrict Airlines coming from these countries to Nigeria in order to fight them back for adding Nigeria to their red list with regards to the wide spread of omicron variant.
Sirika added that the Administration of president Mohammadu Buhari will also place the United Kingdom, Canada, Saudi Arabia on a red list of Airlines coming to Nigeria.
The minister said that if those countries placed Nigeria on their red list, they lack the moral right to have their airlines fly to Nigeria to perform commercial operations.
He added, “ there is also the case of Saudi Arabia that put Nigeria on the ban list. On Sunday, I participated in a meeting with COVID 19 task force.
” we have given our input that it is not acceptable by us. And we recommended that those Canada, uk, Saudi Arabia and Argentina also be put on the red list.
”As they did to us, if they do not allow our citizens into their countries, who are they coming as Airlines to pick from our country.
“ They are not supposed to come in. I am very sure in the next three days, Monday or Tuesday, all those countries will be put on the red list of covid-19”. The minister said.
Capt Sirika concluded that those countries that put Nigeria on their red list will be added to Nigerians red list, as he apologised to Nigerian citizens that wishes to travel out. [url]https://infohub101.com/fg-retaliates-bans-airlines-coming-into-nigeria-from-ukcanada-and-saudi-arabia/

The road distance between Abuja and Lagos is 536 kilometres (333 miles). A car trip from Lagos to Abuja will take roughly ten hours and thirty minutes. However, the road journey from Abuja to Lagos takes approximately 9–12 hours.

Leave as fast as you can.

The admission of international students and skilled migrants will bring a surge in Omicron cases necessitating a temporary closure.

Last night singapore banned Nigerians from entering their country. So do not book any flight that will layover in singapore.

specifically, do not book Turkish airline.

And please I am trying to track back a particular post about someone who got an admission at University of Tasmania, please which Agency did you later use?

In their agency list, Africa is not there. Or if anyone has an idea of the agency to use, I will equally appreciate?

Good evening guys, pls I would like to know how VISA fee payment can be made since the daily limit on Naira cards is now $100. Kindly help with the relevant info or steps to take to make this payment.

Thank you
Re: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by Mike365: 10:27pm On Dec 14, 2021
By opening a domicillary account and using a debit card linked to that acct. However sometimes the debit card of Nigerian domicillary accts are restricted. Hence, you can link it to your PayPal account and use paypal
You can also create a virtual dollar card via barter by flutterwave
