Naijabad:Stop spreading FUD. Singapore's travel ban on Nigeria has been in place since 5th of December. Moreover, UK has lifted the travel ban on Nigeria, so i don't see Australia banning Nigeria. So far, the vaccine has proven to be effective against the Omicron variant as no vaccinated person has ended up in the ICU. Australia cannot afford to go into another lockdown or close it's borders. Businesses are suffering and it's hitting the economy very hard. The best they can do is to increase the mandatory home quarantine from 3 to 10 days etc. Temporary closure is no longer an option. Everyone relax, the gate of paradise is open 4 Likes |

“Australia can’t afford to go into another lockdown”?? Omooo I dey laugh when I see statements like this. Listen, when it comes to Aussie border restrictions NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING is guaranteed for temporary visa holders. Aussie is a country very protective of their vulnerable and aged persons, should anything threaten the public health they will do anything to protect that. Especially with the elections coming up soon, they will not want to ruin the good records they have. No go dey reason am o. If you have the visa leave as fast as you can. I do not know the rate barter uses. However, I'll advise you get a dom account and do it yourself. It gives you freedom and has more flexibility than barter, in the sense that you can physically go to the bank to get clarification. In terms of getting dollar, you can use Kaoshi network their rates are a bit better than your typical bdc. As at today, dollar to naira rate via that p2p platform is 560/561 seunfoster: 1 Like |

Thanks for response, I really appreciate but I was unable to add my dorm account on kaoshi so to receive dollar will be impossible. My bank was not enlisted. Mike365: |

AyaE:I am sure you are one of those feeding on the mainstream media Bullsh**. You better wake up to reality and facts. The Omicron is already spreading everywhere, so why did Australia decide to open to temporary residents after moving the date to 15th of December? Like I stated earlier, the Omicron doesn’t seem to be a major threat at the moment as no hospitalized case has been recorded. In shot, the upcoming election is one of the reasons why they decided to rush the opening of the border. The citizens are already frustrated, and the universities and businesses are crumbling. They are politicians and they will do anything to win the upcoming election. Learn to think outside the box dear. 5 Likes |

I just want to mention something important. Honestly, we need to help each other by sharing valuable information. Since Australia has finally opened borders to international students, we should interact more than before, and share any useful info or experience if you have traveled already for example...Pls let's be more supportive to each other. Thanks! |

It's a p2p platform where people can send forex and their recipients get the Naira equivalent. Also, people with domicillary account can exchange naira for dollar direct into their domicillary account https://www.kaoshinetwork.com/ ocpaschal: 1 Like |

Collins605:The PM and the NSW premier have been indicating that they don't intend to go into lockdown anymore. Just yesterday, NSW lifted further restrictions including allowing Unvaxxed people same freedom as the Vaxxed and all this is happening amid the Omicron concerns. Will a country intending to lockdown or shut it's borders lift further restrictions? This is common sense!! Even the health minister has indicated that the case numbers will go up but the main focus will be on the ICU. Just today, Peter Dutton (Defense Minister) was interviewed and he clarified that they can't keep shutting the borders and going into lockdowns after almost 2 years and they will have to learn to live with Covid. So forget all the nonsense about shutting the borders in 2 weeks. Some people just speak trash without presenting facts. 2 Likes

Do you have a Hong Kong visa to transit via Hong Kong? If No then I’m sorry to tell you that you’ll have to rebook/ change your flight. Nigerians cannot transit via Honk Kong without a visa even if it’s just 1hr layover. Experience I booked a Qatar Airways for my wife in August with 2hrs layover in Honk Kong. She and others with the same ticket were not allowed to board due to the above reason. The ticket was canceled and I had to rebook to another route. Japkelly: |

NB1912:Madam you don't have to be insultive, opinion differs, present yours and let it be. NSW premier can only speak for NSW and Peter Dutton doesn't have any power regarding border closure not even Scomo, they will all act base on the advice of Chief Medical Officer. Are you aware that Western Australia boarder is still shut till February, Tennant Creek a town in NT are in 3days lockdown starting from today, Queensland open its border on Monday and introduce 14days mandatory quarantine today, Tasmania open its border on Wednesday and introduce travel restrictions today after discovering 3cases. Regarding Australian border, absolutely anything can happen. PS: Forget the media brouhaha, Australia can survive the next two years and if not more of border closure. 2 Likes |

Stop being so negative y'all. Some of you are just selfish. Some of you advising students to fly to Australia "like right now" have no idea how much it currently cost to fly from Nigeria to Australia. Like NB1912 rightly said, stop spreading FUD and don't derail this thread. 1 Like |

bligs:Young Man/Woman/Transgender or whatever you choose to identify as. Where in my statement have i insulted anyone? Oh i guess you are one of those that read with emotions lol. My point is very clear and they are backed up with facts. You highlighted that the PM doesn't have the power regarding border closure and they act based on medical advise. Did you listen to yourself at all? Why are you contradicting yourself? Point of correction, the chief medical officer can only advise but the PM decides if the international borders stay open or closed. Yes, each state and territory premiers decide on what happens within their state or territory but it's just a matter of time before they give in and join NSW and Victoria. Look, i don't have the time to get into an argument with people who are narrow minded and cannot see the bigger picture. I bet you will take this one as an insult too huhn? Anyway, i will leave you with some additional facts where the PM emphasized that the responsibility now lies with individuals and people need to learn to live with Covid. In addition, NSW and Victoria have scrapped 72 hours quarantine for fully vaccinated international arrivals. Now tell me that's a sign of a country that's about to shut it's borders This will be my last post on this matter. Like i stated, learn to think outside the box Oh did Canada just announce they have lifted restrictions on the red list countries? NB1912: Haha, busy man indeed. Sisi042, I would recommend clicking on my profile and checking out some of my previous replies. Some of those replies should be relevant to your case. I am not going to sugarcoat this, getting a full scholarship in Australia is hard as it is super competitive. However, it is VERY doable if one is really dedicated and ready to 'fight' for it. I would think that your first class should make it less hard also. re: EOI - you will need to DYOR and look up samples online. I am happy to answer any specific questions that you may have. Nigerians in Melbourne, how una dey. Hopefully, I can connect with some of you at some point soon. 2 Likes |
