electronic transmission of results will allow the west to try and rig the elections to put in a leader that will answer to them. [/quote

Fool, you think they have not been imposing leaders on you? No wonder Nigeria is a mess, most are sleeping

Why not over ride the veto? The NASS can reconvene tomorrow and speedily pass the bill again if truly they are serious.
The problem is not just buhari but stooges who see themselves as buhari slaves at the national assembly instead of elected representatives of the people.
History will forever remember Ahmed Lawal Gbajabiamila as the worst set of leaders the NASS has ever had.
Anyway, expecting any good thing from buhari is like waiting for the camel to pass through the eye of a needle. We will endure this failed regime till it's expiry date.

This regime is our collective punishment for wrong voting and poor attitude towards voting.
We shall overcome.

You are a wise man. Let’s see how the Red house will respond.

You guys have blindfolded by politics of hatred being played in Nigeria. Our governors irrespective of parties rejected direct primary because it will refuce their power. This is the time, labour, youth and civil society should mobilise and demonstrate against government decision. Our problem is not Buhari but governors include Wike.

Oga, Nigeria's problem is Buhari

These guy were voted to correct the errors of PDP so what are your saying?
Also, bills are modified to suit realities at that time. The current reality in Nigeria stipulates that election results are transmitted electronically

I am not suprised.
Buhari will realize how badly he has damaged his initial lie of a reputation after he leaves office on or before May 29 2023. He has chosen to notoriously be on the wrong side of glorious history!

Buhari is an idiot but on this, I support him. It's now left to the NASS. If they don't have ulterior motives, they will remove that clause in the bill and resend it immediately. We wait

Lmao. NASS no get the mind to veto the president. But this thing is easy, remove the clause of direct primaries and resend the bill to Bubu. If he still finds fault, then it's clear he's against democracy

I now believe Gov Wike.

In his interview with Channels, Wike said Buhari is not comfortable with Electronic Transmission of results so some APC juggernauts deliberately smuggled in direct primaries for political parties to provide Buhari a reason to reject the entire electoral amendment Bill.

Brethrens, the main reason for rejecting the bill is "Electronic Transmission of results" and not the so-called direct primaries.

President Buhari is a scam. Remember, his lackey, the Senate President had earlier rejected Electronic Transmission of results but only succumbed after widespread condemnation.

.

Abi Gov. Wike is afraid!

Direct primaries and Electronic transmission will go in tandem with each other, so why will they want to shoot themselves in the foot.

If anybody against innovation, the person is from HELLFIRE

Read what you wrote and read what the president said! The president clearly noted that he didn't sign thr Bill because of the direct primary, but you love him so much that you ignored that and went for the neck of Wike. The problem is mostly Buhari before anybody else! He, Buhari, refused to sign the bill, not the governors. He, Buhari, said he doesn't like the direct primaries, not Wike.

I sincerely don't know what you are talking about! Some of us read objectively and not with rose-tainted glasses. Now remove your rose-tainted glass and read again!

Direct or indirect primary should be the prerogative of the parties.

Those who smuggled direct primary into the electoral bill did so to generate unnecessary bottleneck and scuttle the entire process.

They all knew the plot from the beginning, it was a well scripted movie.

If the NASS meant well, they should quickly reconvene , expunge the direct primary section and represent to the president.

Everyone knows they dare not override the president.

I agree. It should not be a matter of national law as to how a party holds it's primaries. Also direct primaries will introduce the same kind of rancour and litigation that we see with elections. There will be cases all the way to supreme court. At least with the indirect primaries it's just the delegates, the whole thing is settled in convention ground and everbody goes home. I agree with Buhari on this

All this electoral amendment bill should have been done by southern leaders like Obasanjo and Jonathan while they were in power.

The way Obasanjo and Jonathan play down restructuring the same way they also played the electoral amendment bill

But they left this strategic assignment to a leaders from the core north.

How then do you expect a core sectional leader from Fulani tribe to support the bill and give his assent

Jonathan gave you Permanent Voters Card. He gave you BVN. He gave you IPPIS. And these are very good innovations with technology as their framework. He would have continued reforms if he was still there, but he was thrown out. Let Buhari also give Nigerians something in terms of reforms, or let him continue where his predecessor stopped and improve on it.
