MackyNaija:
I am working on escaping the $5,200 charge for ending our lease in California.

There must be several options I have thought to myself...
So I set out to discover new things.

Will send an update on lessons learned whether or not it works.

I don officially escape California finally. cool
The genesis of this escape plan stemmed from the Apaartment Complex's ridiculous requirements to either:
i. Pay the full remaining 9 months amount left at move out and get 'some' refund later.
OR
ii. Pay two months of rent in full and move out AFTER giving one month notice. That's 3 months rent in all.

As I no be mugu, I refused. Most things are negotiable I thought - asked them to take one month rent at move out, they refused. So I turned to Mungo Park.

Most states have Laws guiding tenant-landlord relationships. For Cali, it was Civil Code 1951.2...
I could choose to cover the difference between when I move out and when they got a new tenant. I emailed them stating the Law and that I was picking this option. Them no get choice but to accept - it's the Law.

Reasons why I chose this
i. I no get money to waste on frivolous charges (free money for Landlord)
ii. The total cost was high (2 months worth of rent for free) due to high rent so it made sense mathematically.
If you live where rent is $1k, no need to pass thru this stress.
iii. The Bay Area housing market is hot, I was 'sure' I could get someone to rent the place in less than 2 months.

Cutting the long stressful story short...

They found someone in 2 weeks but the new tenant required a full month before they could move in so it only cost us 1.5 months in rent to end the lease.

The stress to fight them tooooo much and so many back and forth with a property manager that does not know the law so if you are not in Cali or New York where rent costs between $3k to $5k MONTHLY, just pay the two months rent and break the lease.

Finally, NEVER allow them do a final walkthrough of the apartment without you being present. Be there so they tell you what they'll be charging you for or fixing, you sign the checklist and get a copy before you leave.

Dear all,

Could you help interpret what the total cost of attendance of this course would be. It's a two(2) years course.

Thank you.

Congrats. Happy Thanksgiving in arrears. I also ordered a laptop with an NVME disk, yet to arrive so I can't speak for how fast it is.

Enjoy your pet projects. SSDs made older computers à bit fastér. I read NVMEs even more so.

I'd suggest you open a domiciliary account with GTB, fund the account with $$$, then make any payments with the GTB dollar Mastercard. Naira cards have monthly restrictions as you know.

Bros macky, I just finished my first semester over here. Most of your insights are very great and I used them. the basic thing is if you go to class and you do assignments you can have an A before finals. Anyways I had a 4.0 this semester and even won a grant as an exceptional student. I hope next semester is the same grin grin grin. Thank You.

MackyNaija:

I can't remember but it was either...

- interest only payment in school or no payment in school
- grace period of maybe 3 months post graduation before the payment starts

I believe I have written the rate somewhere here (could be around 10%, can't remember becos I have refinanced multiple times and current rate is 2.75%).

Original duration was long, maybe 7 or 10years, monthly payment post graduation was not upto $300.

With the current refinance rate, total interest will not be over $1500 for the remaining 5 years, so I'd rather not payoff early and use my money for a Camry. cheesy

Thank you for this crucial information.

For instance, the 10% you did mention here, is this the total interest rate for the entire duration of the loan?

Thank you.

Please I’m curious about something: can someone accept two graduate admission offers, then maybe reject the less favourable offer later on? Does anyone know anything about that?

@MackyNaija can you help?

You think Americans are stupid cheesy
Na immigrants + people wey like freebies deh vote democrats.

The only saving grace for them be say them deh flood TX with illegals just like they have done in Cali.

I hard for my money and I hate freeloaders.
Have they taken care of the American homeless population?
USA be WHO or Unicef? cheesy abeg wey like TX Red. cool

That’s false and outright silly. People vote democrat because of progressive policies that promote the overall welfare of the society. Universal pre-K, paid leave, increased minimum wage, improved infrastructure, universal healthcare coverage which lowers overall healthcare costs, affordable childcare.

The idea of “free loaders” is standard republican orthodoxy. One that is largely built on bigotry… the biggest “free loaders” in the US are the rich, many of whom pay no taxes and get trillions in tax breaks that never trickle down to you and I.

Everyone loves red states, until they need help from the state. I laugh when I see the utter shock on the faces of red staters who get fired from their jobs, only to realize they have no legal recourse because they live and voted for right-to-work laws!

I'll been to find my old phone and post some news articles here...

They are taxing us to death to fund their giveaway to illegals.
Our county sales tax was upped to 10.75% after we don pay state income tax of about 10%.
Toll $6, I don use Houston Tolls for less than $2.
High occupancy highway lanes, short distance upto $8 after using tax payers money to build the roads?

Where is all the money going to??

Abeg na useless socialist freeloading state, dissociated myself from that rubbish.

Wait make I see my old phone. Lodged homeless during covid in hotels and bought them booze and drugs likely on a regular.

California is a high tax state agreed. But to call it socialist is staggeringly ignorant of what socialism is.

I live in Houston Texas, the toll costs are just as outrageously high… it costs upwards of $40 every two days driving from my home in the suburbs to downtown if I took the highways.

Yes Texas is a low tax state (no state tax), but you pay for it in other ways… during the freeze of 2020, houston lost power for over a week, because the state power suppliers did not winterize their equipment and we are not connected to the national grid. That will NEVER happen in a blue state. The reason Texas is prone to floods is because of the complete lack of zoning laws and absence of flood mitigation… will NEVER happen in a blue state. So enjoy your warped view of red states… I hope you never lose your job and need unemployment insurance or have to rely on cobra for health insurance. Easy to be a republican when you have a stable job.

Na Texas we deh, I fit buy 10 guns if I want. cheesy
Then na me go deh perpetrate the gun violence when anybody mumu near my house. cheesy

I haven't witnessed any, when I went to inspect my Camry before registration in Texas, the inspector had a side arm... open carry pistol.. e sweet me to see...
This is Texas and they embrace the Right to Bear Arms. kiss

Bros you’re black, the laws don’t apply to you the way they apply to whites, especially in red states. Good luck encountering the police with your side arm or AR15. Texas embraces the right to bear arms except on every private establishment and government property. What a joke.

It is so obviously you are Conservative by the way you advocate for open arm carrying and your stance against immigrant policies in california. I won't be be surprised if you contest for a political position under the republican party.

He isn’t conservative by any definition of that term. He is simply brainwashed. Under the old INA laws of the 1920s, immigration to the US was only open to citizens of Western Europe. The civil rights laws of 1965 is what allowed folks like you and me to immigrate here. If white “conservatives” had their way, you and I wouldn’t be here… Trump exposed that dark underbelly.

When/if I get a better offer than the first one. I've accepted an offer for now, but I still have decisions yet to be released, so incase I get a much better offer I'd like to accept it and reject the first one. It's the rejection process I'm not familiar with.
