Elder Icon4s should be fine. He does check in here once in a while.

As for the yearly award , he already said he wouldn't be able to coordinate it for this year that someone else should carry on but nobody showed interest.

Ohk...

Guess I missed that.

All these people don see us finish.

This is the more reason why CAF shouldn't heed to calls from the European clubs to cancel AFCON..

The premier league has voted to go ahead despite all the covid-19 cases going on...
Let AFCON hold!

Philosopher1979:

You see players like alhassan Yusuf, Nwakali, ovie Ejaria somewhat have this skill set
and this is why we have been shouting they should be in the team.
skill set and tactics can be more important than where a player plays.
In fact, Akinkunmi Amoo can play both as a winger and an attacking midfielder and so he can just play in the wings
and help out in midfield at the same time.
.

Oviemuno is not on the same level as those you mentioned.

Amoo is unproven and in a very low level league maybe in the future but in the HERE and NOW a big no, and Nwakali is promise never realized and remains in obscurity in Segundo division.

Yusuf is not exceptional in his league and doesn't bring anything outstanding in to the SE.

decent football knowledge but not modern enough to me

Made a lot of reference on resurrecting our traditional wing play and expansive football which I hinted on few days ago nothing more nothing less

Was expecting to hear the tactical input that may be required if the opponent thwart our traditional game play but didn’t get any, may be that will be addressed when need be

There is another point he made which I concur and noticed as one of the issues bedeviling the team for some time now, lack of physical imposing players as we use to have before. I know many will argue that it’s irrelevant but in the African scene it’s goes a long way in helping team must especially the least rated teams.like he said physique mixed with technique and speed will be 100%

With what eguavoen said in the video with regards of how he wants his midfielders to play I think iwobi will be a jewel to him because the Everton man doesn’t shy away from getting the ball or making spaces for opening but very good at one touch football and long passes

On the other side ndidi will learn a lot from the coach because I believe from the video that he has few things ndidi needs to add to his game

Also as a coach who loves his full backs up the pitch aina will definetely shine under him

He made the Video as a Director of Technical Department with Responsibility of rebuilding the NaijaWay Football Philosophy, not as a Coach of the Squad.

With his emphasis on physicality d likes of amoo even to some extent simon, won't really have a chance..d saving Grace for d likes of chidera, chuks, and maybe amoo is DT dey av d technique (football brain to cover up 4 dier small size)

Meanwhile he addressed d area when he said if d oppt thwart his wing play plans..dey go direct by attacking as a unit and defending as unit using d Bulgaria match as an example.
But I think he believes with dis set of players we shld be able to use d indirect method (dictate and dominate the games thru d wings and attack each spaces created by d opponent)
Although all those ones b English.. Let c is team play first grin

I also noticed that he spoke a lot about having a very strong spine in the starting XI including Goalkeeper, Defender, Midfielder and Striker.

From Austin's body language we might see Uzoho reclaim that number 1 spot and then see maybe Balogun and Ndidi form the middle part of the structure. Victor declaring himself available thankfully gives an arrow head to work with.

Ejuke and Chukwueze could likely be his good to men for the wing role.

Honestly listening to Austin work I can appreciate why he was appointed to the technical department. Like you I agree he's not cut out for modern coaching. We still need a tactically sound coach who acknowledges and is keen to fine tune our playing style.

My expectations for this AFCON are still modest but I'm optimistic the team will play with even more intensity and attacking intent.

Tega Abraham has been a consistent, continuous and outstanding Striker and goal scorer from day one since he started playing football.

As a mere teenager he smashed the Championship at Btistol City and was a top goal scorer, he did the same at Aston Villa. In his first full Of Premier League season 2019/20 he scored 15 Goals in the EPL, he was Chelsea top goal scorer. last season he was also Chelsea top goal scorer despite being relegated to the bench for Lesser players, for reasons UNKNOWN.

There is absolutely no comparison of Tega and KC one has been consistently outstanding and the other consistently mediocre.

Tega has gone to Seria A and has continued.

What has KC done over 5 seasons in the EPL with Leicester after 106 games just 22 goals. He had a very good season 2020/21 with 12 goals. After 3 seasons of shambolic impotency, he finally came alive. He deservedly got a lucrative contract extension until 2024.

I said then that the true test will be CONSISTENCY and CONTINUITY in the 2021/22 season if indeed there has been true progression, not just a one season wonder or flash in the pan.

There are 22 games left of the season can he score 10 goals before season end ,that would be outstanding. He has played 10 games and scored 1 goal.

What you practice is bias and double be standard creating a different standard of measurement to suit a Nigerian player.

KC was classed as a big flop by almost be all pundits and media outlets. Has that tag changed ,only time will tell.

You introduced the comparison of Tega Abraham not me. They are on Totally different levels in every department of the game. Below YouTube clip just be to remind you.

@thegoodjoe,Mr tactics and odas..let's watch dis eguavoen analysis and rate him cool

Baba nla

Nice And direct analysis here. I was expecting something about the modern pattern, but as I've seen, he wants to replicate that winning team style, which means he personally believes we have the players to do just that.

Just one thing though-forcing teams to the sides in modern game is still scary. Maybe it will work vs African teams.

For that work rate, Ndidi-Onyeka may be in his starting XI.

But Wingers may not have that energy to do it solo cos spaces gets closed down easily and fullbacks are much part of midfield and attack these days.

Overall, i believe the boys will understand him and he will get the best of them. Anyone wey no wan put in extra work should gerrarahere from the GWG.

Hopefully, we aren't taken by surprise if Qatar comes. Cos that "we did all we did, but were overwhelmed by the more resolute blah blah" excuse no be am.

Another thing I enjoyed about the video is Eguavoen revealing Kanu Nwankwo almost made the USA 94 squad. That was shocking.

Then I also liked his point of when we play in a direct fashion, he needs all offensive playeors and support running at full speed.

That was nice to know.

More or less the Liverpool style. We'd need a Henderson and Fabinho for that. I think we got such mould to make this work, don't you think? Well, lets see how 3games goes with this experiment.

Personally, i hope Simon Moses gets the current Nicolas Pepe treatment. All the best Cerezo

With the availability of Victor Osmihen in the afcon squad . The super eagles Frontline should be scary with Victor Osmihen, Emmuanuel Dennis on the left and Samuel Chukwueze on the right. Am just scared of our defense right now I don't see Troost Ekong holding Salah with is speed on that day

4-4-2 isnt bad if you have technically sound midfielders, also the overload on the wings is an added advantage, personally i feel its a nice formation if we get a good cm to pair ndidi..
Iheanacho/iwobi as ss
Ejuke and samu on both flanks, oshimen wouldnt be short of supplies

What are u saying?

Nice analysis by Eguavoen.

Seems like an upgrade on Rohr in terms of player knowledge, tactical formation & game play.

However, he seems to be stuck on 4-4-2 formation and the finidi/ammunuke-esque wing system which is outdated and has almost been phased out for inverted wingers.

Anyway, football is played on the pitch and not on tactical boards so I'll reserve my opinion until the AFCON.

Yeah 3 games will reveal much about his playing style but i am not too happy that he is stuck on the 4 4 2 formation.... which he has an alternative like 4 5 1 formation to make for counter and thick the midfield when playing against attacking minded teams like Senegal/Algeria

If we play 4-4-2, teams like South Africa or those North African teams will play basic triangles around our players until we chop goals like sardine. If we had like a talent like Scholes or Gerrard who can pass and dictate the game on their own, I won't be too worried.
Equeavon teams always concede but tend to score alot of goals
Later in 2006 afcon be worked on this and conceded just 2 goals in the whole AFCON and qualified with whopping 9 points from a group that has Ghana and Zimbabwe
