Russia will be right to preempt the situation and attack Ukraine though because of the future threat of proxy war on them. NATO too will be right to respond. Russia and China have to do away with their supremacy quest. The world has gone past the stage of conquering territories and redrawing borders.

Actually Russia has always had problems with their tech, either lack of maintenance or something else. Even 'SOME' of their tanks and naval vessels are not in good conditions, except the newer models. They still use the auto reload in their T-72 tanks although it can lead to destruction of the tank if hit by enemy fire at the correct point.
