We hear that Tinubu said that come 2023, he would run with a Muslim NorthWesterner as vice-presidential candidate. This was in reply to Northern elders who told him that they would NEVER accept a Christian running mate from the North. The simple implication of the above statements are as follows. The North cannot accept a Christian from their stock to be a vice President and Tinubu has no issue with that. This is so because he believes that the Christians in APC like Boss Mustapha, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, etc are inconsequential to his dream of ruling Nigeria. What stops a credible presidential candidate from impressing it on his Northern friends that the need to allow for equity in the polity by allowing him to run with a Christian as a running mate? A big question for the Nigerian Christians and indeed all well-meaning citizens of Nigeria is "What is wrong with allowing a Christian from the North to be Nigeria's Vice President?" One would have expected Tinubu to question his hosts as to why the Christians in the North are not good enough, rather than assuring them that he would choose a Northern Muslim as a running mate? Is Tinubu now more interested in satisfying the Muslim North only or does he believe truly that the Christians are truly inconsequential? Perhaps the latter is the correct perspective of Tinubu's presidential dreamland. Tinubu's love for a Muslim-Muslim ticket did not start now by the way. It was said that prior to Buhari announcing Osinbajo as running mate, Tinubu was in fore-front pushing for a Muslim Muslim ticket with Buhari. It was said that for the stance taken by the likes of Bukola Saraki, and perhaps Buhari himself who saw it as a suicide mission, Tinubu saw no issues in intentionally violating the Nigeria secularity and religious balance between the two major religions in Nigeria. I know some folks would like to strike off the religion card as irrelevant, but I dare ask what would happen if a Southern President like Jonathan had picked another Christian as running mate, what the same folks would have said.
In the second assertion from the same statement, Tinubu was said to have asked his friends to forget about the South-South and Southeast, as the two regions are inconsequential, so to speak. This is not only insulting but a slap on the people of the two regions. A credible presidential candidate would have been sensitive to his or her utterances but not the Jagaban. He believes that he only needs the North and his SouthWest region to become president. That statement is a big pointer to where his presidency would like to serve. He has indirectly announced beforehand that his presidency would effectively exclude these two regions, thereby towing Buhari's 5%er analogy and clear relegation of the goose that lays the nation's golden eggs.It is on records, that the successive Nigerian governments have been insensitive to the yearning of the SE and SS for inclusiveness and resource controls, respectively. The current Nigerian structure favours the "assumed" majority tribes or oligarchy, who have remained indifferent to the need for equity in the Nigerian nation. Weeping up these known injustices even before being nominated as a candidate of any political party is a suicide mission for a jagaban presidency, I dare say. An astute and sensitive politician would at times like this choose his words and not boisterously and hauntingly see himself as the man the cap fits. Perhaps hindsight would have reminded Tinubu that the harmless statement attributed to Obafemi Awolowo, that he would definitely 'probe the outgoing military regime' at the onset of his campaign in 1979 made him lose to a little-known Shehu Shagari. Those who boast of their following and as such throw caution to the winds as Tinubu has started with, end up losers, bitter, and sometimes resort to self-help. The seeming inconsequential statement of the Jagaban also stems from the fact that the two regions of SE and SS are predominantly Christians, So, we wish him luck in his luck!

Who is your preferred Candidate?

You should be writing about your candidate, not someone you hate with passion.

I am a christian n will still vote Tinubu.
If you Igbo father like he can wail to death this morning, same Tinubu you are working hard to disparage single handedly made Ambode a christian the governor of Lagos.

Sanwolu another christian replaced Ambode I wonder what sort of foolishness is now plaguing the dead stone father as on his head.

Muslim Muslim ticket is a failure as per Nigeria. Besides, the Lagos you mentioned had a Muslim deputy to ambode so stop being economical with the truth.

This people should leave their wailing for 2022 proper. Yorùbá will show you how politics is played in Nigeria and not by attacking people. Ibos think blackmailing will work on us but they've realized Yorùbá don't even count them as a threat on all fronts. Na hausa and fulani be our threat politically, not iboe will tiny 5 states that's just few yards bigger than Oyo State.

Nah, they aren't threat... They are just noisemakers looking for relevance.

I as a person don't care whatever religion the president and is vice practise. It's got jackshit to do with competence. Also, I'd prefer that toad eyed slowpoke not to go anywhere near that presidency. Having said these, I think it's time Christian northerners band together and support the south. Those creaky old Muslim squeaks from the north need to be taught a lesson on how a brain is used (if probably, they have functioning brains).
