No negative effect on the team, the boys know and they are aware that he is a fidiye (interim) coach. They will play for the badge bro.
TheGoodJoe:

The point is the effect on the team. You can argue that they will want to prove themselves to the new manager but the genuine message is that Eguavoen is not coach. Which is not the message to send before the competition when Eguavoen is leading them to the competition.

I don't think announcing Peseiro as coach is a good call at all. Few weeks to the AFCON? The guys should have gone to the AFCON with the mind set that if they play well for Eguavoen, he might retain the job and keep them in the team.

Now the players will go to the tournament with the mind set that Eguavoen is not their coach.

Pinnick is such a disaster. I wonder why some people come here to defend him.
Not even an issue of announcing, the whole appointment should have been done after the tournament. If you appoint him without making the announcement, it might backfire after the tournament cos imagine if Eguavoen wins the trophy then few days later a new coach is announced, you'll be the first person to criticize it.

There's absolutely nothing exciting about Peseiro's appointment.. His CV says it all..
Only thing that make him look better than Rohr is that he has actually won a few trophies in his career..

Let's see how it turns out...

somehow:
He has only managed a job for 2 years. The rest has been 1 year or less.

That in itself should TOTALLY disqualify him for the job.

He had no history of outstanding achievement ,he had failed everywhere he has been.

Why then did we appoint him Only the NFF politicians can answer that question.

Does anybody recall the disclosure given by Glenn Hoddle in the public domain . That he would have to give 50% of his salary to some official in the NFF. The NFF did not even contest the claims.

This new coach is very hungry and desperate and will do anything the NFF ask him to do.

Why don't we get an established coach with real pedigree who is not hungry and desperate.

There was a time Nigerian players had the accolades if being top goal scorer in Europes top league and teams.

Ikpeba prince of Monaco
Yekini the lion king of the Portuguese league
Finidi Wing wizard
Taribo the Iron gate of Inter Milan
Kanu the Magician
Okocha no intro needed
Olise our own Pogba
Mikel
Yobo

To mention just a few

Nigerian players at this time played in the top teams of Europe and were respected.

Now look at were we are

Enthroning mediocrity in self deception to say we are improving and or outstanding. These were the days of overt and blatant racism but our player's thrived and overcame to succeed.

I am so sure if you were to analyse the team then
With your prejudices and sentiments towards anything English you will criticize those guys as not good enough and will prefer English League 1 players over them except few that are privileged to be in the EPL

He would tell you how John Fashanu and Efan Ekoku were better than Yekini because they were in the EPL while Yekini was in the Portuguese league.

Has he won any trophy before even when he had the luxury of time to prepare a team not to talk of now that everything about the team preparation and Nff is in turmoil. Guy Eguavoen can not win a tea cup. Just lower your expectation and enjoy the Afcon. Serious team that desire the trophy are in camp and have a well detailed program in place and those not in camp already just exited a tournament a week ago.

Eguavoen likes a midfielder that can dictate play from deep with long balls. That is a natural skillset of Nwakali.

And nobody else can do a long ball better than him in Nigeria. Are you joking

He is so good that he has remained in complete obscurity and mediocrity since he stopped playing youth football.

He is the lowest paid player in Huesca ,what does that tell you.

You can't be a lowly mouse in your league and all of a sudden become a Lion in the SE.

The basis of selection can only be outstanding performance in club and league not historical accolades obtained at youth football 7/8 years ago. That's ludicrous.

So because of criticism, you will tell the players the man taking them to the tournament is not their head coach. Better to go with all ammunition to win the competition than sabotaging it because of criticism.

It was not long ago when KC was Leicester city best player and you praised him with shame but now you are using lookman to diss him which is very stupid of you

Lookman is loved here ,if lookman was a naija born talent I am sure you would have let us know he flopped at Germany and can’t make it in England but you are quiet concerning that

I don’t really like going your useless way of talking down on players ,so because Ademola scored the winner against Liverpool means nacho is a bad player ?

Actually Fash told me himself that he wasn't good enough for the SE, he was a physical kick and rush player with no finesse.

Efan was also a very good plsyyer but with more technical ability and finess but not better than Yekini.

The EPL was not as good as it now then .

So your assumptions are once again very wrong.

And yes I know both of these ex players, which you may find difficult to believe.

This is seriously giving me 2013 vibes. It was on the former thread everybody was doubting keshi and his boys before the afcon. Not saying Eguavoen would win, just drawing parallel.

He said Lookman have only played 8 times which is a lie

And even the minutes he has played is more than the minutes Iheanacho he is berating him for has played this season.

Not to talk of the 4 assists Iheanacho has done he is not even adding up

Why would you list an uncleared player in your provisional 40 man list and even send it to Caf? Also, in what village does it take over 2/3 years to switch a player nationality? Most of our African counterparts that had made a nationality switch only took few months…

Ademola's switch started last month, and he got named with hope that the switch will have come through before the tournament proper. We did same with Moses and Aina during World cup qualifiers. It is no rocket science, so quit ranting

Keep deceiving yourself and accepting mediocrity. Someone that has already declared his intentions to play for Nigeria in over 2 years started his switch last month and NFF thought it’s wise to include a player that started his switch 1 month ago on their 40 man list…. The problem with Nigerians citizen is their absolute tolerance for mediocrity.. NFF are doing everything purposely to justify Ahmed musa and shehu underserved inclusion on the team ahead of the likes of Lookman, Nwakaeme, bassey and akpoguma and we have imbeciles justifying such behavior.. they don’t realize that a winning team is as good as it’s bench…. On current form, Alex iwobi doesn’t deserve to be on SE team ahead of Lookman or nwakaeme let alone Musa..

It is simple. It was a wrong call.
