God bless you. We had plenty cheap oil money to build these things but they stole it all. Now we MUST have them, hence the borrowing. Those who criticize the borrowing should say where the money will come from

The majority of the borrowing hasn't gone into infrastructures developed, Amechi has borrowed only $3-4 billion which has been invested into rail programs, but the Buhari has borrowed close to $35 billion.

Where has the $31 billion gone too?

Please think before you respond.

Wishful thinking! APC led government is strictly for the north and Core north alone little wonder why train services are predominant in their States while others get to face the challenges of road transport sad sad

President from zone A sat for 5 years and did not know zone A needs infrastructure.

No be juju be that?
If you had understood how Nigeria's fraudulent 36 states and Abuja political structure with a whooping number of 19 states and Abuja in the old Northern region determines how a president of Nigeria presides over the country, you would have known that political overepresentation of the old Northern region at the FEC, NCS and the NASS steers the president.

FYI, the standard gauge rail lines thing were initiated by Olusegun Obasanjo civilian government. The administrations of GEJ and PMB merely continued the project.

I believe he has done much more than that, and u know it!
Am happy when I read comments like your. Yes we agree the government is not doing enough but to say everything it totally bad is just an ostrich trying to hide its head in the sand. The whole loan this nation is owing both locally and internationally is not even up to 15percent of just the student loan of the United States we seek to compare ourselves with. My point is simple criticism should be done with proper justifications. And yes I believe more needs to be done by this APC government.

fact is to develop our infrastructure to an acceptable level we have to borrow. If you have an alternative, think before you respond and tell us

Dummy try and reason,

No one is questioning the importance to borrow to build infrastructures, I borrowed thousands of pounds to buy my house. The point is that majority of the funds that were borrowed did not end in infrastructures, but consumption, corruption and recurring expenses.

Nigeria has borrowed to pay salaries and import food and refined oil. Can you equate the $35-40 billion that Buhari borrowed to the number of infrastructures on the ground? In 7 years of his government, how many refineries are working?

Think before you respond.....

Nigeria’s foreign loans set for all-time high at $45bn as Buhari begs for additional $4bn loan

Nigeria is not owing China any due payment. Abuja- Kaduna railway loan has been repaid up to about 40% since 2017.

Let those predicting it will take 100 years to pay back not deceive you.

I didn't mention Abuja - Kaduna railway. I said projects

Lol...I expected the entitlement mentality from u..
Look around the SS ..the oil they produced is moved through pipelines and some out to the oceans for tankership to easily buy and leave..they don't have a transportation problem except bad roads..if a railway is to sited there which will come in the future it won't be so viable as only few people will use it..there are no ports to take advantage of it..even the onne port serves only aba and portharcourt..and there is now a ten lame road being constructed to serve both cities...

The SW and north is a different story ...most of the food we eat comes there and these ate commodities u can move via pipeline.. The cities connected on the Lagos kano line is far grearter in population in economy Dan the SS combined...most of the major factories are in these cities.. So companies will rather have their cargoes quickly evacuated from the Lagos port which serves the entire country to be moved via the rail... By extending the line 30km to The next town in Niger(maradi) means that all their exports DAT support their economy will be moved on the rail and the middlemen (Nigeria) profit from it....if u look at the case of Nigeria. Our export is Oil(liquid) the best way to move it is by pipeline..so most of the time we can't make so much money off transporting oil...but it a different case for commodities that are solid...
Another major point is DAT..Lagos kano line has proven capability to move 30 million tonnes of cargo...portharcourt to Maiduguri is just 11 million...the Lagos calabar line is not expected to exhid 15 million...

Look economically there are a tonne of reasons why Lagos kano has to be developed first..but u won't realise it cuz of sentiment and tribal issues

Add: Nigeria is sustained by income from the SW and Northern regions.

There is no level of twists and turns, untested theories and outright falsehoods that you predators in Nigeria would not put forward to defend the system.

You raise money from Zone A but use the money to develop Zone B, build modern infrastructures in unproductive Zone B - leave the infrastructures in Zone A deplorable.

I will not insult you, I come from a good home, but we are discussing money for railways, not other borrowings. There will always be corruption in every system...and nice for letting us know you have a house

Parasite. Justifying why the hen that lays the golden egg should be starved, while the barren hens should be fed fat.
The days of your falsehoods are getting numbered. Things can't just continue like this in your type of country.
