congratulations on your landing,
please I will like to know if Montreal is your destination or your port of entry?
Thanks

Ikechi12:
Landing gist

I travelled to Montreal from Mexico via Air Canada. They have the best plane that I have entered. The screen was large and modern. The food was not free though, you would have to pay with your card. Only the drink was free.
I arrived in Montreal and the officer asked why I didn't travel directly from 9ja. They then asked for my enrollment letter and after then, I was issued my study permit. Everyone on the flight was selected for covid arrival testing and I (fully vaccinated) was required to quarantine until the result was out. The result came out on the third day of my arrival.
At the moment, it is not very cold here. The minimum temperature so far is -4 degrees.

Hello everyone,
Kudos to all the gurus in the house.

I would like to ask if someone intends to pay full tuition fees for a masters program and also pay about 10,000Cad for GIC, does the person still need to provide proof of funds or SOA for visa application. Also like what amount should be provided if POF is still needed.

Imagine the romantic letter you're drafting to your well-admired Cinderellas. From my observation, you must be one of those whom varnished after getting PPR without reciprocating in accordnace with the norms of this glorious platform so as to enables others gain more knowlegde based on your timeline and documentation. Kudos to ET, else, you would have landed in Pluto jollificating and bragging to have successfully off-bracketed the Nairalanders on Polynomial equations. Welcome back. Your eyes don clear abi? I pray this your second Pro bono romance pays off.

Hello lovelies, compliment of the season. students from university of northern British Columbia {UNBC} Prince George campus should kindly read through and advice me. I got my study permit by November this year and booked my flight with ET on the 29th of December, on reaching to the airport to board I was asked to present an enrollment letter which I do not have I was advised to contact the school which I did. they [the school ] responded and told me to register for courses since then I've been trying to register but can't find my way through .. Any good attempt to assist me is highly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Hello Ruby

Paying full fees isn't compulsory as many applicants have gotten their Visa without paying full school fees, some pay part school fees, some pay just the deposit..

GIC isn't compulsory at all, many of the applicants that share their approval testimony do not do GIC... It's very possible to get your Visa without GIC..

Then lastly, SOA is a very important and vital document required by IRCC.. It is almost impossible to get any Canadian Visa without showing proof of funds...

So to answer your question, out of all you have just mentioned , SOA is the most important, so you have to submit it..

Peace

Good day

Please I’ve applied to NBCC for about 6weeks now no response I want to know what I need to do in preparation for visa application.

I also applied to NBCC and I have received my admission letter. When did you apply? I applied sometimes in July 2021
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 20 by Chinnychappy: 10:43pm On Jan 02, 2022
Wow.. Soul lifting response...
Osemigho:

I believe you will only need to pay for your January semester courses. So, pay school fees and secure your enrollment letter. That's gives you some money for rent and feeding.

When you arrive, get a part time (20 hrs) job. Popular ones are McDonald's and Tim Hortons. You can also get a cleaning or admin job in and by your school. You clean classes at night before everyone resume. This is one of the best international student hustle I know because some schools give perks like tuition discount to their staff. However, it is often man know man because of the numerous perks.

If you are required to pay your full tuition, pay it to secure your seat. Then borrow about enough for 2-3 months rent and feeding allowance. If you are prudent, you will pay it back in 3-5 months with a part time job after you arrive. Alternatively, reach out to your church branch or school alumni in your destination city in Canada for help. Some may have spare room for you. However, this option makes you to obligated to them. So, I will advise you to avoid it if you can.

Your part time job will pay your rent and feeding. You will also be allowed to work full time during summer break. So, considering you have your full tuition ready, your financial situation is far better than many international students. Don't loose your seat in the program.

That’s true. It can be boring and lonely when you are new and have not made friends yet. She can try these approaches, which helped me when I was new in Canada.

1. Let her try to liaise with her programme coordinator (the officer who engages them on course registration or the international student office) to please connect her to current Nigerian students in her department, like those in their final year or graduating. Once she gets attached to one, that helps a long way to put her through on all she needs to know, and with that, she can start expanding her network. Canadians here dont joke with mental health so i am sure they will try to support her.

2. She can also call this African store. I just googled, and I can see that they have an African store in Regina Saskatchewan called " Rosemond African Food & Market, 215 Victoria Ave E, Regina SK S4N0P4. Mobile No. 306-352-5252. Weblink: http://www.rosemondafricanstore.ca/.
She can introduce herself being new and ask if there is WhatsApp group of Nigerians in Saskatchewan, I am sure there would be one and start building friends from there. Nigerians here are always willing to help especially those who have been here for some time and fully into the system.

3. Once classess start, she might be lucky to see a fellow Nigerian in her class and they form a clique.

She would blend with time dont worry.

Greetings to all the selfless individuals in the house, I have been reading threads upon threads regarding the Canadian study permit and it's been so enlightening

Congratulations to all who recently got their permits and to those who are still on it, I wish you good news this year

I have few questions and I will be so much grateful to get the input of the gurus @Lekiboboe, @justmellow @frankrobben, and everyone else who would be gracious enough to further enlighten me.

1. I graduated with a 3rd in 2010 and I have been working as a sales exec for the past 7 years, I am considering a PGD in Global business management or Business analytics in one of the colleges, is this a good idea and if so, I'd appreciate recommendations

2. I have a mentor who's willing to sponsor me, will his company documents and bank statements ALONE be sufficient to show as POF?

3. What are the chances of getting my family to easily join me after landing (we're a family of 4)

Looking forward to your counsels as always

Thanks

Good morning house.

I don't know why each time someone mentions GIC as a proof of means of financial support, some members here (names withheld) show strong disapproval of it. It is true that GIC does not guarantee approval. Likewise, nothing guarantees approval as far as IRCC is concerned.

According to IRCC (Screenshot attached), GIC can be used as proof of fund. I think that is what matters.

Hello nolookingback

1. Whatever course you wanna choose, just make sure the course is very related to your work experience and not your undergraduate degree.. It's been over 10 years you graduated, so it won't be ideal choosing a course related to your 1st degree, so go for courses related to sales.. And the courses you mentioned, if they are closely related to your Job or you have strong reasons for choosing the course, please go for it.. You can get a PGD admission with your 3rd class coupled with your years of work experience..

2. I assume your Mentor is a 3rd party sponsor, and we all know the Visa officers pay detailed attention to 3rd party sponsors, I.e the Visa officer wants to be convinced that the said sponsor will be committed to your studies.. It's not about your sponsor having all the millions, but about his commitment to your studies and also to your living expenses in Canada.. He must pay at least a year of your school fees..
You must also show close relationship with the said sponsor if he isn't your family member, if he has sponsored you in the past, that will be a very good tool to convince the Visa officer, so work on your relationship with your sponsor.. Also I won't advise he uses his company's SOA, it's not a good move, unless he pays your full school fees and transfers all the remaining funds for your living expenses and missileanous to your account and he will still have enough money to pay his workers comfortably..

3. This depends on you, you can apply alone, get to Canada, get your study permit and SIN and then apply for a spousal permit for your wife and visiting permits for your Kids, you will have to use your family members as hometies to convince the Visa officer that you will surely come back to your family, cos no married person with a spouse and kids will abandone his family and jet away..

Or you can apply as a family, with you being the principal applicant.. But you must have very strong home ties since you won't be using your family as hometies... Many applicants have gotten their visa with both categories, but applicants that go alone first are more than applicants that apply with their family... Many married applicants here apply alone first and immediately they get to Canada, they start applying for their spouse and kids... So the choice is yours..

Good luck on your Canada journey, one more thing, you will need to have lots of patience in this journey, just telling you in advance...

It will end in praise.

Peace

You can also click on the link below of the post I made last year on the guideline on how to request for your GCMS note, it's the recommended site by IRCC and it's cheaper than the 3rd party site I dropped earlier, but you will need someone in Canada to do this though..

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 20 by makano: 10:26am On Jan 03, 2022
Hello Bola

If you re-apply with this same profile, you may get your Visa...

Final decision also depends on the Visa officer that attends to your application.. Some Visa officers can be so strict with their decision, while some can be lenient, so far you have done the necessary things that needed to be done..

I personally know of an applicant who I worked with, that got refused despite paying full school fees and living expenses being transferred to his account, he was planning on Judicial review, but I advised JR is expensive that he should re-apply with the same docs he submitted, the only difference was that I worked on his SOP and LOE, but he submitted same documents he submitted in his refused application, no addition, no subtraction and viola he got his Visa.. And this is cos another Visa officer worked on his re-application and saw reasons for his approval which the previosus VO didnt see..

That's why you see some almost perfect applications getting refused and some not too perfect applications getting approvals..

That's why I always tell applicants that they should pray that their applications gets to the right Visa officer..

So if you know you met all their requirement, and you did justice to your POF, then you can take my advise or you go for JR..

Peace
BolaT53:

Hi Ketima,

I honestly don’t understand what the VO mean when they say sufficiently/availability. In my situation my sponsor paid my one year full tuition, transferred my living expenses to me, booked a return flight ticket for me. I as the applicant had about 1.5m my personal funds and my sponsors statement was about 40million no lump sum. But my visa was refused based on he has concerns on if the funds will be sufficiently available for me throughout my program. What do you think went wrong in my application.
