Dem dey make assumptions based on Big name players. Some people said Morocco was sure for the semis last AFCON, na "I like to move it, move it" people still bundle those ones comot.

AFCON is literally anybody's game. Your team may be filled with brilliant players, but the lines may not fall in place the day you need them to.

See CIV with Haller, Zaha, Aurier, Pepe and co, you would think semi finals sure for them, only for you to hear that Zimbabwe or Guinea kicked them out.
I laugh each time they come up with their beer parlour predictions

Sometimes judging your team's chances based on who is available or not is not the way to go.

In 2013 Osaze was out and out our best striker using EPL pedigree but we didn't take him. Same with Martins who I think was playing in La Liga then.

At the end of the day what happened? Emenike from a ''farmers'' league carried our goal scoring burden even though before the AFCON he was largely unrated.

So it's rather premature to say without Osimhen, Dennis and Ighalo we don't have hope.

komekn:

I think you are caught up with a nostalgic quest for entertainment football characterised by dribbling, show boating and skill but with limited end product.

Football has left that era behind even at AFCON and the days of gung ho, trying to dribble the whole team has Died.

When a player's is skilful, technically astute, fast, physically resilient and strong all crowned with END PRODUCT even in an obscure league. He will not be unnoticed.

Our best in form Striker is Dennis and he is not at the party, so also is Osimhen. If Ighalo plays we have hope.

Ejuke is not the outstanding player in his league but he will go to the AFCON and set it on fire. I don't agree with your optimism.

Someone mentioned earlier that it might be so because he was given the opportunity.

So let's see what comes out of the opportunity to be given to others in this tournament.
Which I believe is a major factor for osimehn's goal run. Osimehn was highly favored among our strikers.

Senegal had the best team in 2017 they choked, 2019 they lost, way back in 2002 they lost. The favorites tag might be heavy on them.

As for Algeria yes they are very capable of doing a repeat but 2019 was abit surprising most people didn't outrightly pick them to lift the trophy.

komekn:

Every football game has an element of luck and fortitude. The team that prepares properly creates team cohesion and through working as a team can beat better teams with sheer hard work and determination.

Nonetheless, cream always rises to the top.

Last AFCON Algeria and Senegal were the best teams and Senegal was unlucky.

If anything we were lucky to get as far as we did.

On paper we are underdogs, there are at least 5 teams better than us on paper. Teams that win usually have a world class top player, that gives them an edge.

I think we should go all out and attack the Egyptians. Watch how Angola and Gabon faced them in the WC qualifiers. If you show them too much respect using the Salah factor that is even when they can hurt you the most.

Same Dennis was not outstanding in Belgium and Germany so park well Ejuke is the best player for his team and they are not bottom of the table

What's your point❓

What has Dennis got to do with Ejuke, can you give some clarity.

Ejuke is the best player in his team ❓ if I was to say Vardy or Salah was the best player in thier team I would explain with some key performance indicators.

So he is the best because you said so

The beautiful thing now is that a lot of teams will write us off due to the unavailability of our regular hitmen. Na there we go for open their yansh like fowl. grin grin grin

Whoever is the top 9 only needs to position himself well for services from the likes of Chukwueze, Nwakali (if he plays), Onyekuru, Ejuke, Sadiq... (I'll prefer Sadiq as a SS over Nacho).

It would be risky. Because we always lose concentration in the second half. They will come hard on us. Best is to frustrate them entirely for the whole duration. But if the coach thinks otherwise and have the right tools, it would be lovely to go head-to-head with them. It is possible, only if we can maintain maximum concentration for 90 mins.

Komekn, I do not consider you an aficionado in African football, in fact, I don't think this is within your scope of knowledge for you to declare what is truth or sentiment.

Just stick to making wild theories about NFF's relationship with dual nationality players.

I don't consider you anything and you don't know what my scope of knowledge is for you to make deduction about it or me.

I am not sentimental and emotive driven.

I'll give you first hand information. You can believe it or not. Sone Aluko was dropped from the SE because a particular " bullish SE coach," no names mentioned.

Required that he change his agent to the coaches preferred agent take up a contract in Turkey , otherwise he will be dropped from the SE. That is the facts of the matter, to prove it with preponderance of evidence in a civil court may prove problematic but that's the fact.

I don't do Wild imaginative theories.

I could say more, to what purpose, recognition on a faceless forum that's ludicrous.

Epl, la liga and Seria are the Big 3. Their goals holds more weight than any other league that’s why I said “on current form”.. bundesliga and Lique 1 are among the big 5 but they’re still farmers league.. to me, 1 goal scored at Epl, la liga and Seria is an equivalent of 1.75 at bundesliga and Lique 1 while 2 at all other backwater league
Sir,is there anything like big 3?what we have is big 5 and if you are doing it well in any of these leagues you are free to go.......according to UEFA statistical ranking of top 5 europe league which center on co- efficient and method rating...in this we have goalkeeping standard with post shot expected goals minus goals allowed, distance from goal per shot, pressing vs errors, wage + age and the ranking.....based on these there are confusing part on which league to rank number 3 between Seria A and Bundesliga but EPL and LA LIGA stand out in the rankings.
