I'm an intelligent, smart and hard working guy. I'm not really an introvert because I do visit places.

The issue is, I always prefer to be an assistant than to be the Leader. Infact despite been good at what I'm doing I hate taking the Lead. Another thing is...If I work as your asst. and I'm doing my job very good, I'm fond of diverting the thanks and gratitude to you (the boss).

During my Nysc 2019, I was elected to be the Financial secretary in our CDS but I declined, I said I would rather be the asst. Fin sec.

I attend Winners, last sunday (1st Sunday) our senior pastor called out new excos that will be running the church affairs all through this year and to my greatest surprise, I was privileged to be the Head of technical unit.

I rejected it, I met with the pastor after service, He said I should write him a letter stating why I don't want the position and why I also chose to be the assistant, then if i convince him enough, he will reshuffle it.

Despite been a graduate in Accounting, I'm also a good sound engineer, Infact I lecture even graduates in engineering how to set and control sound (Pls I'm not bragging, I'm Jst telling you how serious the issue is).

I don't like Leading. I don't know if it's normal.

You're afraid of responsibility and attention...You just need someone who will always assure you that you can do it at every junction. Every genuine leader no matter how great carry this consciousness of not being suffiecient hence the need for someone to supply constant assurrance.

personally I don't want to be a leader. Some said I'm weird.

When I asked my mom if it's normal. She said when I'm going to give our pastor the letter, that I should let her know, so that she can tell our pastor to bind the spirit that is making me reject leadership.

The features of a thing are indicators of what it is meant for. Op excels in sound engineering to even lecturing career sound engineers, in that field he is designed for leadership even if under another leader who in this case is his pastor.

You're simply shying away from accountability, duties and the responsibilities that come with leadership and that's a sign of laziness.

Leadership roles can be very demanding and mentally draining because everything kicks off from your table. strategizing and putting everything together for the smooth running of your administration is quite tasking. I speak from experience as one who has held leadership Positions at various levels and even in my current job as a consultant. Its not easy and can be very demanding.

Sometimes, I literally break down from mental and physical stress just trying to get the system functioning effectively and efficiently.

I wanna believe these are the reasons you shy away from it. Though I'll advise you take it up so you get to master the act/skill because you never know where you'll find yourself tomorrow. You may even be faced with running your own biz and having to lead your team. Then, how would you go about it? Hmm...

I'm glad today that i didn't shy away from it then.

Get books on leadership...and stop turning down the opportunities to lead...

Nothing bad about it. The bane of blackman is that everyone wants to lead. Some people are born leaders while others are made leaders.

There are others that are not leaders but they are the backbone of leaders. You are one of them. They don't like spotlight but they prefer doing what they know how to do best quietly.

Those behind the success in advanced economies are not too popular. No leader succeeds without them. The most brilliant consultants don't usually own businesses but no business does well without their input.

Some years ago I used to be invited by some middle class in my church. I taught godly business and financial principles. They appreciated the delivery and gave me gifts. In one occasion my mind started telling me that I should look at my car and the big cars of those that came. That if I was that good why was I not rich.

I almost lost interest in the program until the Holy Spirit reminded me of the old testament prophets. They were not rich nor kings. But no king ever ruled well without the backing of a powerful prophet.

So who is greater? The king or the prophet that he depends on.

Big man no matter what you do you will become a leader in one sphere of your life especially as you said you are good in sound engineering. So start prepping yourself

Because I dislike leading, I had to tell the other guys to negotiate with the party members trying to offer us some monetary gift. The end is that the miscreants lied about the amount they received and shared the remaining money at my back.

I was persuaded by my classmates in my undergraduate days to become the course rep but I refused even when I had all it required to be one.

I just don't like leadership as it exposes one to people of higher authority which I am not comfortable with. I avoided anything that will bring me one on one with lecturers.

I think not wanting to be worshiped is also a factor. I don't like people according me unnecessary respect. I would rather you call me by my name than use "sir" like I am one big god.

God dey promote u, u dey reject am. Ur problem is timidity and low Self-esteem. U are scared of doing or going wrong. U are scared of challenges. If na swear self, reject am.

You obviously have leadership qualities for you to keep getting selected for the role. But you shy away from it for reasons known to you...it could be that you don't want to take the responsibility of any hiccup or mess up, or anything.

Finally I have met my kind of person. I hate leading roles. I love to learn under someone before I mount the head.
I remember vividly when my church was about to elect a new campus fellowship leader I was on the first list to take that position but I decline and shy away from it. Presently I shy from being the SUG president of my school to be a S.R.A I. My tribal meeting people in school want me to be the president but dam I just don't know what to do.

Where did you pull this fallacy from? The dude is not a leader! He will do better as an associate or an outright assistant. Period!

All leaders were once servants, just continue to be a very good assistant wherever you found yourself, one day, your good work will automatically give you an edge over others in the eyes of the kings.

Mind you, there are some things you need to change before you become a leader, otherwise you may not last in your position like former president Goodluck Jonathan. Self confidence and positivism are very essential in the life of anyone inspiring to be a leader.

Out of thin air . Leadership is in the DNA of every man. God made Adam a leader and by inheritance every of his children. The trait may be passive in some and active in others, but it's there.

Wow! We are very alike in many ways just that i worked on myself to overcome my social phobias and am good in one on one meetings but the crowd or public speaking still makes me uncomfortable except i prepare.

It's not bribe. It's a gift mostly brought by the top political parties. It has no means of influencing the election results.
