My advice is simple. Do not employ them . Their look alone is not how we want our kids to look like. Dress well and be addressed well. If you come in a Rastalike look, be ready to have a good number of ur students think and look d same way. Puff puff

If he pass your aptitude test why not. If wealthy people or popular artist puts on dread you guys envy and wish to be like them, if unknown or broke guys put on dread you liken them to be criminals , Igbo smokers etc. Dressing corporate doesn't make you less of a criminal or irresponsible.

No, I wouldn't want to lose some parents who may see it as offensive to please a teacher.Teaching also is a noble profession,if you want to carry dreadlocks, then look for job in a music industry or cele church and not in a school.....

shocked

If it's natural dreads it won't be seen as much a big deal..highest students go jes dey call Uncle/Mr Dada

The case is not the same for artificial dreads,.intentions maybe harmless but such individual will still be seen as irresponsible,ill-mannered,pervert,worldly,cumly to say the least. No school or institution go even think am.

P.S My answer is applicable only in Nigeria My country

I can even employ a man with Mohawk and tattoos. .

As long as he appears neat and well dressed, he is good to go.

The main thing is for him to possess the special ability to pass on knowledge and mentor young ones to greatness while showing great discipline and responsibility.

It’s actually a silly question! What does his hair have to do with his teaching abilities.

This is a question you will only find circulating in a country like Nigeria where we judge people by their looks. Dreadlocked hair = irresponsibility!

No need asking the question,he is irresponsible and would affect the image of the school

Don't forget Jesus was a Nazareth(had dreads) and was not judged using his hair type. But then, our society has stereotyped dreadlocks as a sign or show of irresponsibility. We think low cut or bald portrays responsibility which is not necessarily true. 99% of criminals and terrorists paraded were not wearing dreadlocks but low cut. So, as a school owner, i'll give every applicant a fair treatment and later make them understand how the society sees things and how the way they see things may affect our business. A sensible dreadlock applicant would reason out my explanation.
My school teacher then de so Jerry coil. Lol

Most people who wear dreadlocks are Rastafarians, and Rastafarians are very intelligent. Moses who led the Israelites, John the baptist who baptized Jesus Christ, Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia and the legendary Bob Marley all had dreadlocks, and were great teachers. And not forgetting Lucky Dube and Alpha Blondy, and the rest. Great teachers.
