Game day expecting another sharp and fluid performance today that will translate hopefully into more chances created and goals scored.

May God reward their efforts.

forgiveness:

Playing Nwakili with just Ndidi in the midfield is suicide.

Iheanacho must give way for Nwakali to play then allow Ndidi and Aribo to continue.
Next time we are defending a goal, I think Onyeka
should be considered ahead of Nwakali.

Agreed without any iota of restraint or question not just suicide but MADNESS.

I am shocked but this is Nigeria where Tinubu may become president.

How can a player who had done nothing for 7 season in Europe is an anonymous big mouse with not even indicative stats to show promise. In the moi moi Segunda Division.

Will bench tried and proven EPL players like Iwobi and Onyeka. Nigeria we hail thee.

Still on October 20, 2021.

My talk on the guy was quite detailed that I needed a second post (click on the above post).

Now apologise (something I know you lack the honor to do after being proven wrong AGAIN).

komekn:

The top goal scorer in the Swedish league is a 26 year old Nigerian.

But somehow not a mention of him Samuel Adegbenro here he has 17 goals in the league this season and counting. However, there is lot of talk about Amoo, who has not done as much as him..

The double standard and favouritism is not even hidden.

Right about saying I show double standards and favoritism against Adegbenro? Is that what he is right about Andy? No please answer this one.

We do take note about amoo but not someone who have scored 17 goals or so ,despite the fact that he quoted you I am not pointing that question to you alone .

You do give us detailed information about so many of our players so you can’t be faulted .

This my oga self cheesy

Simon has an incredible work rate , plays to instruction and although he has poor end product he defends as well and is crucial to the team.

Awoniyi

My take on this young man is one word. Flawless.

He did exactly what was wanted of him. Keep the Egyptian defenders uncomfortable. When they are with the ball and when they are not. I think it had to do with spotting gaps and creating chances for threats.

This ruptured the shape of the Egyptian defense and created gaps for the other forwards to exploit.

However, he needs to get his finishing game on if we get chances of scoring early and have more gaps to exploit.

Agreed without question guy plays for the team and to instruction.

If you have a game strategy you need players to follow up it with discipline and strict adherence in their work rate in the game.

Awoniyi is central, he has taken his opportunity and SEIZED IT. I hope he scores two goals today.

Okay but Andy, he quoted me. U gerrit?? angry

And yes, I know not everyone has the time to check on all the players. Even me, I just do the best I can.

Should not the fact that I have at least mentioned him a few times exonerate the rest of you? I mean, you all know I take it upon myself to cover as many players as possible and you guys engage with it as your own discretion. So what is this talk of double standards again? It's 2022 and it's tiring.

Some of these teams we are overhyping, hope we know its expected that they hype us too, if not more? grin

We say that vs Egypt, and their Coach attested to that. The same Egypt that most of us never thought we'd win o. Sotey its almost costing him that job.

Glad Eguavoen has said he won't underrate any team. But its Sudan o.

I'm even thinking like "lets outplay them in such a way that whatever Egypt plays vs them, it wouldn't equal how we bested the same teams.

I personally want Iwobi to start. But what do i know about the first approach?

I also believe the Ndidi-Nwakali-Aribo midfield can work. Which will mean losing Awoniyi for Iheanacho. However, we need to keep in mind the setup the manager is working with.

So far, we have not built ideally from the back, through midfield to attack. It goes into the Sylvanus Okpala Nigerian football philosophy, we are Rushians.

Due to that, Eguavoen prefers an offensive block. That is, more players in the attacking unit. So we ended up sacrificing a midfielder for this. The gap in the hole between the midfield and attack gets field by players dropping into that space when attacking.

So for now, I doubt Eguavoen is willing to break that shape, unless Nwakali grows into the offensive role. However, it can work as the team progresses. That is with a Kelechi Nwakali-Kelechi Iheanacho attacking pair. With Aribo and Ndidi in midfield.

However, Nacho needs to offer more running forward. Kelechi Nwakali can also drop deep to pick the ball from the midfield pair during attack.

As I said, interesting times ahead.

You are lost my friend in the Nostalgia of times past of U17 football.

I admire your dream team combination.

But thats what it is dream not REALITY or underpinned by with objectivity.

Nah let's leave the team for now. It would be almost wrong to single any one out after that performance. Ndidi and Joe Aribo can do all of the above. I honestly can't remember Aribo playing a long ball but I am so convinced of his baller status that I am willing to bet he is good at that also. Plus we all see Wilf sending long passes to Iheanacho at Leicester. We just need to give them our support and confidence.
Ndidi and Aribo should remain our midfield starters for now with additions here and there

This is not true, no side lost more possession in this AFCON than Ghana in the game vs Morocco

Appreciate, brother, but that stat is 100 percent accurate based on the model used.

Possession lost by Sofascore is mechanically calculated based on any action that causes a player to return possession to an opponent.

This includes
Inaccurate crosses
Clearances
Shots taken
Offside

So bringing this into context, the player at AFCON with the most possession loss is Gambian goalkeeper Modou Jobe. Why?

Because he has come against the most attacking side in AFCON Mauritania and has had to take many goalkicks and clearances.

Does that look like an accurate depiction of possession loss?

Lionel Messi was the player with the most possession lost last season in the La Liga. Why?

Because no player attempted more shots, or created more chances than him.

Is that an accurate depiction?

Alexander-Arnold is the player with the most possession loss using this model. Why?

Because no player attempts more crosses in the league.

Is this accurate?

In the Nigeria-Egypt game, Hegazi was the player with the most possession lost. Why?

Only one player made more clearances than him in AFCON game round 1.

I used Whoscored more accurate model for that stat, not Sofascore.

I also talked about him last season too.

We are taking about outstanding performance that's consistent in the HERE and NOW.

You are trying to be diplomatic with your naked favouritism and double standard.

And you defend your position with, I talked about him last season, thats not a defence but an indictment.

How many times did you talk about him? How many times did you mention him? I was busy giving weekly updates with his name and performances in it. You can search "TheSuperNerd Adegbenro" and see for yourself.

So stop this your childish yammerings!!

I quoted two posts for you... this below being one of them... dated October 20, 2021.

You tried to cause mayhem here by saying I play double standards but now that I show you how wrong you are you will turn mute now, not so? Ofcos go ahead, turn mute. grin

Samuel Adegbenro: IFK Norrköping's Talisman AND TOTW regular

19 y/o Naija left footed Pearl, Amoo has made the Swedish Allsvenskan TOTW 3 times including the latest one.

But there's another Nigerian who has made the TOTW 5 times. Ofcos he is no teen... he is 25y/o Forward, Samuel Adegbenro. Few here should be able to recall the lad keenly.

Note: NL only permits four image/graphics uploads at a time soooo....

Not a fan of sadiq or Nwakali ,but you need to stop bashing them concerning the Egypt game

They didn’t have time to do much .

Football gives you little time.

That's why we have super subs.

Awoniyi came on and within 1 minute he had set the standard and tone for the game. You don't need 90 minutes , just 15 minutes and you can be the game changer.

He had time but did absolutely nothing with it.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m): 12:44pm On Jan 15, 2022
Also, I want to understand something.

Amoo is a player who can feature at AM and RW.

Adegbenro is a player that can feature at LW and CF. His 17-goals season came mostly with him as CF. Do we have a CF problem?

Do you see why not everyone here would talk about him? It's because we have a long list of CFs doing it in the Big 5 leagues and also in Belgium we have another tearing things up like a mad man.

But in Amoo, we have a lad that can come and be nurtured to excel as an AM. Ofcos he would be talked about more coz we have an AM problem now!!!

Isn't it logical?

Bia Komekn, did you study logic in school? Damn!

I am sorry that's LUDICROUS.

When Douglas Costa joined Bayern Munich from Juventus, Guardiola asked him if he was ready to learn how to play football. grin

What I am saying is that you can work in a team with a different ideology and then move to another manager who can develop another side of his game. I think it was Mark Hughes who said he taught Victor Moses how to defend. That was a player already doing well in the Premier League.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m): 12:48pm On Jan 15, 2022
You weren't specific Citizen. Weren't clear.

TheLoneCitizen:

It's a matter of perspective, brothers.

The fact I stated tackles shows that I meant possession lost by getting dispossessed by opponents.

Not possession lost by inaccurate passes or inaccurate shots, as provided by Sofascore.

Nigeria have lost possession by poor control or by a tackle 34 times, the most. Egypt 30.
