Tbh its shocking seeing the nwakali slander here....same people who would sing praises of jorginho, busquets are the same bashing him, apart from that time he dallied on the ball and was dispossed i think he did what was expected of him which was to keep possesion of the ball...
Sentiments aside nwakali had a decent performance today, make una cut am some slack abeg

It's the hypocrisy for me.

Jorginho is hailed and termed Top Class by some and World Class by others (including me) for doing the same thing Nwakali does ooo. Keeping control and being tidy in ball possession, distribution and pass recycling.

It is funny. Amnesia have struck them all. grin

Do you know stats are only indicative not conclusive .

You can do twenty accurate short passes that do nothiny and have no impact on the game between you and your Midfield as you keep possession.

Nwakali had little impact on the game he brought NOTHING.

Ohhhh not this one naa... Lord keep this one away from me please... this one cannot reason at all naa

I have a question to ask

APART FROM OKOYE don't we have a better Goal keeper?

Abi hu na nor watch the match?

That guy is tensed whenever the opponents attacks.

Even the commentator made mention of it.

If we are going to go far in this tournament.

OKOYE needs to be replaced.

Because if we meet cameron or senegal na Goals we go just dey pack left and right.
Once they penetrate our defense

Why.

Because the goal keeper is still inexperience.

When watch OKOYE in the pitch I see a kid who still needs massive tutoring before putting him as our number 1

I don talk my own.

You all are ignoring.

The day we go collect!!!!

Na that day hu na go start to cry.

Just take a look at the penalty

Aina , while full of energy could be a little sluggish and lackadaisical in decision making. While he is okay and could do the job , I personally favor Ebuehi.
Sir,pls stop this...Ebuehi is damn good but Aina I watched against Egypt and Sudan has nailed RB position, nothing like sluggish and lackadaisical in his games...Aina today reminded me of Chidi Odiah.

My stand has been Ebuehi to the right Aina to the left.

Ndidi couldn't hide his frustration. His fans are saying he looked calm on the ball , maintained possession , blah blah..

Make we jam country like Cameroon. Nwakali will be so badly exposed. Everybody will get to see he's a wack player.. Imagine frank the Tank on the bench and you are bringing Nwakali into the game..

Dude does not have the energy to play against top level opposition. We will see it soon. Let Eguaveon continue to give him exposure at the expense of our team play.

Think in this direction; if your midfield couldn't click with "world class" Aribo against lowly rated Sudan what will happen when you battle teams with excellent midfield play , and you are losing those dangerous possession ?...dem go just tear your defense!

Well it seems the whole of the coaching staff at Arsenal, MVV Maastricht, Venlo, Porto B and even Huesca in the Segunda Division where he is the second lowest paid player in his club. Seem not understand him.

So not just the fans but all the coaching staff in that have been involved with him apart from the NFF coaching staff who have given him undue opportunity.
Well I dare say you are correct grin with a little modification though which is they probably do not need his skill set. Not every team will need an Nwakali kind of player, he is the type of player that can only thrive in specific tactical setups. It is who they are, it's not their fault if you do not need them and decide to move them on.

Nwakali came to England on the exception allowed for work permit, which is exceptional talent. He was supposedly the best in the world from the U17 world cup.

Nwakali came on the same framework as KC. However, Arsenal discovered he was not as good as they had speculated. I mean they signed him on a 5 year contract.

When he arrived Saka, Smith Row, Falorin were 12/13 Willock and Maitland were his age group and he wasn't better or up to thier level.

Nwakali needs to first of show quality in his club and league he has played in Europe for five years plus and nobody has considered him good enough. That's why he has remained in the Segunda even his stats are not encouraging. What is surprising is how he got into the SE.

I don't know a Championship side that will take him even league one it will not be easy for him.

So he needs to really up his game, you don't come to the SE to learn football you come to showcase it.

From what I've seen Nwakali is a central midfielder not an attacking midfielder and a Mikel obi type of a player --- a player who was an attacking midfielder in his youth but has become more of a central midfielder..

At least he was making runs with the ball and playing for the team and also maybe playing too safe for some people on this thread.

Swears bruvv. Even that shaky Okoye. We aren't being truthful. Cameroon and even Algeria won't miss those chances and runs that Sudan did against us. We still have work to do. That hype we got because we beat Egypt is getting into our heads. The truth is that we improved but Egypt was poor that day if not we'll have ended up with a draw .
I'm not taking anything away from the Super Eagles but our attackers need more composure. The Super Eagles are still tournament favorites tho.

Ndidi Played all 90mins and recorded 7 recoveries. Nwakali played 25 mins and recorded 6 recoveries.

This is in addition to all the other stats I have mentioned.

Lad played a good part in bringing calm and control to the middle unlike the Uncoordinated middle plays we saw in the first half. Unless you just don't know football.

Lana, that backpass you call foolish kept our possession and allowed us rebuild again. Unlike rushing buildups and losing the ball unnecessarily.

Also, he didn't even give too many backpasses....

Nwakali nailed 24 accurate passes. 16 of those were into opposition half and only 8 in own half.

So explain Lana, how was he backward thinking?

You see I expected this mob mentality gang up against Nwakali but I am ready to dispel the fallacies many will bring forth today.

And understand one thing. I DON'T EVEN KNOW KELECHI NWAKALI PERSONALLY. It's Osimhen I know ooo... as for Nwakali. Never spoken to him. But ofcos some of una no go believe.

16 passes out of 24 accurate passes into/in opposition half and 3 long balls accurately delivered 2 of which set up Iwobi for a cross and Zaidu (I think) for another cross from both wings.

We were tidier in the middle with Nwakali. That is the truth. Anything contradicting this is Caps coz even the stats show I am right.

Comrades cool down. Eguavoen wanted to see Nwakali more today. We will know if he played to instruction today going forward in the tournament. Personally I thought we had better control of the midfield in the second half. I had wanted Iwobi to come in early and Eguavoen did just that. I was very impressed with Iwobi in particular.

Sadiq on his part has not played like he deserves more game time.

I am not impressed with Zaidu’s attack game. He does a decent job defensively. I am curious what Ebuehi can bring both attack and defense wise.

Really I think it’s time for Musa to rest.

I am happy that we were not excellent today, so Eguavoen knows he still has a lot of work to do.

So far I would say the hosts and cup holders are the teams to watch. Forget Algeria started slowly. As long as Nigeria keeps getting better we can go all the way. But I want to reiterate we miss Osimhen.

Aribo was good going forward. Aribo attacked the box very well and could have had a goal or assist if he was more aware in the box.

The only thing is while in the middle, Aribo and Ndidi tried to pass their way through tight spaces and closed markings. They should have avoided the press by spreading play a bit more and even going backwards to recycle and rebuild again. They failed to do this and this explains why we lost possession much more in that first half.
But Aribo had a good game overall.

He was even more hardworking than Ndidi today up until when he was replaced. Ndidi stat-padded the rest after Aribo left.

Nwakali brought calm to the middle and kept things tidy. We lost possession less with him in the middle. That's for sure. Iwobi also helped in dictating plays alongside Nwakali.

But Aribo remains my starter. That's non-negotiable.

First of all, Ndidi and Aribo did the right thing by passing the ball through tight spaces instead of to keep recycling the ball because the Sudanese game plan was to keep us away from their box 18.

That was why they played deep into their half when they didn’t have the ball.

Recycling the ball was actually what they wanted to run down the game or at least win through counter attack through long balls.

We needed to score by creating chances through those tight spaces and it actually paid out.

Oga,pls stop this Aribo vs Nwakili, the two young men are representing us for God sake and one must be on the bench which is normal in football....we need to be mature in our analysis...am more impressed with Nwakili today but Aribo I saw today is unplayable with Simon Moses,Wilfred Ndidi,Ola Aina,Kelechi Iheanacho,Taiwo Awoniyi and Troost Ekong who I don't rate but so far in this Afcon these seven are unplayable.
