My opinion: both Iheanacho and Umar Sadiq cannot thrive in a two.

Obviously Eguavoen wants to see how Ajayi pairs with Ekong , and how Iheanacho pairs with Umar sadiq...

Nwakali has been given a life line tonight by the coach. It is now left for him to do the needful. I was expecting Onyeka and Onyekuru Henry to start ,perhaps they will come in the second half.

Watford have completed the agreement with Bordeaux to sign Nigerian winger Samuel Kalu. Final fee will be €500k plus bonus as Romain Molina clarified.

Contract completed, official announcement soon.

- Fabrizino Romano

I think Samuel Kalu's contract is on pay to play basics, wise economic decision by Watford

I hate comments like this, we all watched the euros where Sancho and Grealish barely had game time despite their fine showing last season. It all comes down to coach’s personal choices no be about ‘Nigeria we hail thee’

It would be considered wisdom to have a bit of depth to your contribution and not just superficial comparison.

You are comparing England to Nigeria

Once you loose form you are dropped look how quickly Trent Alexander was dropped.

Do you see any Championship player's in the England national team. Do you see any player that has not been outstanding in his league and club in the national team.

Do you see any player playing in the backwater league of Europe in the England national team.

It wasn't down to the coach personal preference of choice, but tactics.

Southgate decided to play a caution based game with two defensive midfielder albeit very hard working and disciplined, Rice and Philips.

Grealish and Sancho are outstanding players but so also is Saka, Raheem, Mount, Rashford, Bellingham, etc.

When Southgate makes a decision you may not agree twith him but you can definitely understand the rational for his decisions.

Thats not the case with Nigeria, most things defy all sense of reasoning. We selected a Segunda Division players who has done nothing over EPL best league in the world Midfielder. Because the Segunda player can kick long ball. That is arrant nonsense.

Do you think a player who has done nothing for 6 season can enter the England team from the Championship

Ndidi-Iwobi-Nwakali ... The midfield I have been yearning for.

Let's go boys ..
The whole defensive burden of that midfield rest on Ndidi. I just hope Nwakali and Iwobi can retain possession well enough to avoid the EGs putting us under pressure.

I am not comfortable about the idea of resting most of the starters. I hope Eguavoen’s plan is to bring them on later in the game. Our starters need more games to really gel before the knock out stages.
He may not see this game as a very good test for the lads even in a resounding win.
Well, we’ll see i how they can pull a good win.

Agreed without reservation.

I honestly believe the coach wants to give Ndidi a shot as a mobile defensive midfielder.

This is a good chance to experiment tactics without risking much.

Ndidi remains because he can't shuffle the pack too extensively, it's not tactical, it's logical. The spine of the team has to remain.

I read in Completesports that we would be having 8 changes to our lineup with only Ndidi, Troost and Iheanacho retaining their spots. They had Uzoho, Ebuehi, Collins, troost, ajayi, Ndidi, Nwakali, Iheanacho, Ejuke, Olayinka and Iwobi expected to start. I like the lineup personally, I just wish Onyeka could have been smuggled in. If the line-up is true, this is Nwakali's chance to justify his inclusion. Waiting to see who would make a strong case to play in the 2nd round. Am surprised Musa isn't listed though, seeing that he made a cameo in the last game.

His inclusion can never be justified.

It's a bit like by passing JAMB and having no school certificate but you worked hard and graduated.

It's not about how well he can do buy how much bette somebody else who is much better could be have done.

My opinion: Iheanacho could be a Ramazani, and yes, it could work.

My only problem is work rate. None of our entire attack + midfield have a good work rate. If we have to defend, it will put a lot of pressure on the team. If we stay on the front foot though, we should bang in goals. Sadiq is a colder finisher than Awoniyi is, even as Awoniyi is a better all round striker.

Ramazani played as a winger whenever Sadiq was available, not second striker.

Ramazani drifted inside a lot, almost playing as an SS most times.
