@Amazoner01..Register to vote, get a sim only contract from a phone company. Also you can get a purchase credit card(those low or zero interest credit card), use it for your purchases, be disciplined enough refund purchases. Monesavingexpert is a good resource for personal finance literacy. Also I learnt setting up direct debit for bills is another good way. 11 Likes 6 Shares |

If someone has the international drivers license valid for 1 year, to get a UK license after that do you need to start with getting a provisional license? 1 Like |

Hello Gurus in the house. Thank you all for your wonderful contributions to this group and your contributions have been so helpful. But I need clarification for a dilemma I am in. So I got in to UK November and got a band 4 position in NHS here in London that include inner London high wages. Their checks were concluded just last week, received unconditional offer and I have giving my word through email to the HR about my starting date. She replied that I have been schedule for an induction and appointment contract will be sent by next week. However, yesterday I got a better offer in Band 5 in an interview I did early this month with higher pay and nearer to my house.... But I already gave my words to the HR of the formal offer work, with all arrangement for inductions now in place. What can I do ? |

Adewumi2888: There are certain situations where you have to look out for yourself and i think this is one of them. Just call the the first employer and be honest with them so they can have it on record. Don't leave it to until the last minute. These employers always choose about three final applicants, just incase their first or second choice disappoints. 1 Like |

Mamatukwas: One of my concerns. band 5 just gave me a call after interview that I got the job. By the time they are done with their checks, my induction and resumption date for band4 would have passed. This band 4 took 4 weeks before checks were completed. DBS, OT and references check. |

Adewumi2888: HR will be fine ![]() ![]() Since you are using the word band , I guess both are NHS jobs, maybe the referencing will be quicker since you gone through similar within NHS. Be open to both parties once you said yes to band 5 and take it from there. Band 4 will understand, inconvenient yes but u won't be the first or last to do this 3 Likes |

Go for the induction as a band 4 don’t declare that you got a job as a band 5 yet Cus employment checks can take a while. Give 4 weeks notice after the induction and tell the band 5 job your start date will be in 4 weeks Adewumi2888: 4 Likes |
