Brief History of Enki, the Annunaki

Enki has been a permanent feature in early Sumerian and Mesopotamian culture and religion, dating as far back as 5400 BCE according to some history books.


Looking at excerpts from worldhistory.org, we see that –
“Along with Anu and Enlil, Enki made up an early Mesopotamian triad governing the high heavens, atmosphere, and earth. He is also listed among the earliest seven Sumerian deities in the god’s list which also includes Anu, Enlil, Ninhursag, Utu, Nanna, and Inanna.”

He is often depicted as a bearded man wearing a long robe. But what makes Enki special and grand among his worshippers in ancient times is his alleged mighty powers –

The bible made us to believe that during Noah's time some angels were sent to the earth on a mission but failed to carry out this mission rather they ended up marrying the beautiful ladies on earth. Those ladies gave birth to children that later became giants and powerful like their fathers, the bible also told us that this angels and their offspring were cast to the underground but never pointed out the exact. For me I think those angels are the gods some nations worshipped which they believe live in outer space why others still manifest their powers around us.

@Op Uptownerd, so because you've read Zecharia Sitchin's 12th Planet...

Enlil, Enki, Anu, etc, these are gods worshipped by the Sumerians. The Akkadians worshipped same gods but with different names: Enlil=Marduk, Innana=Ishtar. I think Marduk/Enlil was worshipped by the Babylonians as Baal.

My point? The Sumerian religion wasn't the first. There were others before them.

There is nothing unique about their gods.

They also record a variant story of the Deluge (the flood) just as earlier Canaanites have for the flood (another version was recorded in the bible).
