How many assist did finidi had for Nigeria? because his goal record of 6 in 62 no be am at all considering that people rank him as Nigeria all time best winger. Him or odegbami

I don't know how many assists he had for the super eagles but Finidi was a right sided midfielder, while Odegbami played no 7 for the Green Eagles but was a No 10 for IICC (Shooting stars) so in essence Chief Odegbami was a forward masquerading as a winger, while Finidi was a winger and not a forward hence the difference in their goal scoring statistics for Nigeria.

And also the era of Odegbami was a weak period in African football compared to Finidi's. That was a time that Burkina Faso ( Upper Volta) used to collect 7 goals from the Green Eagles and the likes of Ivory Coast, Senegal and even Egypt chopped 4 goals from the Green Eagles.. The only real competition for Nigeria in the Odegbami era were the North African teams like Tunisia, Morocco, Egypt and later Algeria. In West Africa, our only rivals were Ghana and Guinea..

Nigeria's opponents in the Finidi era were made of sterner stuff..

Finidi not only scored the crucial goal that qualified us for the WC in Algeria but also scored and set up goals in the WC..

6 in 62 is a poor record anywhere as a winger except your assist speaks volume.

Na wa ooooo. This guy is not bad at all.

Can you please remember the goalkeepers Rohr invited but didn’t give chance to play?

I think Dele Ajiboye. Not too sure though.

Ezenwa became prone to errors by becoming scared and rushing out of his lines, thereby exposing our defence to conceed goals. Hence, he was dropped.

Ezenwa never had a blunder for super eagles he was keeping cleansheet back to back for eagles during qualifiers and he conceded two goals in 6 games and the goals came through penalty none came from an open play and something spectacular about ezenwa you hardly test ezenwa in goal the reason is because he has a way he arrange his defense and bark instructions to his defenders

Let's us use the Social Media to force Eguavoen, Agu and the technical crew to give the Israeli GK a chance. From the little I saw,he can displace all the GKs we paraded in Afcon 2021.
I believe there are better GKs here in Nigeria and they may not necessarily be in the NPFL .
Alloy Agu is a fraud.

I know there are forumites here who knows or have people in influential positions that can force the hands of the S.E handlers.

Adebayo Adeleye must be made Super Eagles number 1.
I want to see him in goal against Ghana in the world cup Qualifiers.

The Ghanaian would go on rampage against the S.E. I expect them to shoot from every angle knowing fully well that our G.Ks are bad.

Will do so bro

Thanks sire.Will also do likewise.
I would find time to visit a top sports journalist in the North this weekend at his home.

I am also appealing to every member of this thread alongside ghost readers to also do likewise. Let us bombard every social media platform and handle of our sports administrators, coaches etc with the names and videos of goalkeepers and players who are good enough for the Super Eagles.

Where is Sir Bascovanveli? Please sire, can you do a video of Adeleke Adebayo and other good quality goalkeepers on a new thread?
We are also calling on Supermod Semid4lyfe to push that thread that you will create to the front-page to gather more views and opinion of member of the public.

Barrister, You are quite active on twitter. You can push our agenda further.

Thanks everyone.

Judging by this Afcon performance of the SE, I strongly beleive we need Ighalo against Ghana, and at the world cup. In fact, we should forgive him and make sure he starts probably ahead of Osimhen.

I know Why.

Sir,Segun Odegbami remain Nigeria all time best winger....the same Burkina Faso was Finidi launching pad, came in for Austin Eguavoen and made three assists,if I can recollect Nigeria beat Burkinabes 7-1.....I can't really recollect when Green Eagles beat Upper Volta 7-1 in Odegbami era.

In Green eagles era only two team can make it to the world cup and this really affected our chances,1978 would have been our maiden appearance but own goal by Godwin Odiye denied us.The same team went ahead and won 1980 Afcon just to tell you how good was the team....the only difference between 1980 Green eagles and 1994 super eagles was US 94 appearance.

Pls go and watch Odegbami clips and you will realized that Odegbami in 90s would have benched Finidi and dwarf Yekini....quite agreed with you on Odegbami as winger in CF ability but fact remain Odegbami was a winger with ability to score goals and create chances but Finidi was a pure winger and nothing more.

My man Segun Odegbami was a class...I doff my hat for him when he quit the game due to then Oyo state governor Colonel Oladayo Popoola undue interference in running IICC shooting stars, disbanded the team for losing to Zamalek.

Ezenwa was a calamity waiting to happen. Dude is never ever calm in the box, his decision-making is very average. He is a good squad player at best.

Signor, I know chief Odegbami was a terrific player in his days short of old clips I've seen of him.. From what I've seen it looks likes he was a great dribbler and a good goal scorer but truthfully sir, many of the Green Eagles players during his era were average players compared to the SE players since 1994. They looked good against each other (IICC shooting Stars vs Rangers), but their averageness showed whenever they faced a team with semi-pro players. The only players from that era that could have made the modern era Super Eagles teams were Okala, Chukwu , Odegbami and Muda Lawal...

My point once again, is that Odegbami was a natural forward playing on the wings for the national team hence his high returns on goals while Finidi was a pure winger/ Right sided midfielder...

Egbon you're right about Odegbami being a fantastic footballer infact I would put in the starting Xl of my all-time best SE players.

That said Odegbami was more like a forward who could operate on the wings because of his dribbling skills but Finidi was a proper winger. Blessed with great pace and excellent crosses non of these inshallah types we see from our wingers these days.

George also had real football brain, knew when to popup and score important goals for Nigeria.
