Thank you for saying the truth. When they are offering 8 courses in 100 level in conventional universities NOUN Students are offering 13 courses in 100 level. When they are sorting lecturers in conventional universities NOUN Students has no lecturers to sort, they will read their course materials and face computer to write their exam and the computer will show you your scores immediately you submit with no way to manipulate your scores.
Most of them talking down of NOUN can not defend their certificate the way NOUN students will defend theirs.
I did my master degree there

That's great grin

Let me drop this info, there are some of our client that made it strictly that they only want graduates from NOUN, Covenant, OAU, UNN and UI because of their performance. Honestly, I do under estimate them before until I started working as a recruiter.

I have offers in Australia and Canada... I am just waiting to publish some articles so I can clinch a scholarship..... Underestimate NOUN at your own peril.... go back to the ranking and you will understand better

University ranking in Nigeria is only based on Cybermetrics (Search popularity).

The work and school policy has been a global standard used by most first world countries to balance education and work life so long value of quality education is not compromised. You smoothly transit from school to practical work place after graduation. It’s like killing two birds with one stone. It boosts employability. NOUN is championing that legacy and other schools need to follow suit. Life is not all about book book book, the stigma tag of half baked graduates is due to the fact that people there is no balance between work and school. After school seems like a whole new and unfamiliar environment for graduates. Your choice of NOUN is wise, work hard to earn your certificate with hustle by the side.

I'm a fresher in NOUN BSC info tech, I have plans to study and prepare for japa in the next 5 years. I've done BSC in a conventional University. it's a nice choice.

Good day everyone.

This is a quick one; are there any disadvantages of getting a first degree from NOUN? Please, avoid speaking out of prejudice.

I have resolved to acquire some digital skills and intern afterwards in the said field, and this plan may not permit me to go to a conventional university. The only possible option is to run a degree in NOUN and work/intern concurrently.

What is your honest advice?
Mods, kindly move to frontpage. Thank you.
my advice is as u dey get noun degree, try get masters join in a more recognized university

To me Noun is still work in progress. Many companies still don't recognize the degree from this university. Even moribund private universities are still somehow ahead of it. Well, nobody knows tomorrow. You can give it a trial. But I will suggest u try public university if u are still below 20. That's my own advice.
Why don't they recognize it?

NOUN is far better than over hype UNILAG. Their students are smart, maybe because most of them are adults before furthering their education.

As a recruiter, I have met a lot of them from both schools, so I know what I'm talking.

I graduated from NOUN with a 2:1 in political science. Would love to meet you for a possible placement for a job.

NOU is not a bad idea.
You have your reasons already, so it's just an extra to have you advised.

The only minus for NOUN besides the exemption from national service is just the youthful exuberance.
NOUN is designed for serious, working -class adults, who have a clear vision of why they must pursue a higher education - most conventional universities undergrads are bereft of this!
Thus, no partying, no hostel-ing, no gangsterism etc as obtained in the conventional universities.

But for NOUN to have been NUC approved and recognized internationally, it meant her curriculum is rich!

Your problem is ignorance. There are lot of NOUN students who are sound, academically. I did my 1st degree in a Fed Uni and came on top of my class. However, I discovered that NOUN isn't meant for "dullards" during my coursework(MSc). Let me further shock you, my MSc project( Neural Network Modelling of Type II Diabetes gave me a partial PhD offer abroad but I couldn't supply the other 50%( that's a different story). Oga before you talk, make sure you know.

Isn’t that stupidity??

It's those who go to NOUN but are less than 30 who actually don't have sense...

NOUN was instituted for civil servants and adults who already have jobs that will not allow them attend conventional universities...

So not even in a thousand years will NOUN graduates be allowed to go for NYSC... because the act which created NOUN did not empower it to even accept students who are less than 30years old...much less prepare them for NYSC
