hosey: I even know one married nurse, got place in Canada, allowed to bring kids, spouse. No wahala. Besides, it's better to go to these developed countries with a tertiary qualification(unless you are going there for undergraduate studies) |

hosey: I take it that, you have never stepped into the US, so point arguing that. Also, I am not denying the fact that some ladies get 'locked up and trapped' in the US and used for the acts you have described...but it is harden criminal gangs with links and connections that do that in the US. The uncle can threaten her and will pray to be right all the times, he only require one slip and there is something she can do to checkmate her uncle and put him on his toes. It will only take a phone call from a neighbor, a friend, a coworker or a scripted message from her to outsiders for the authorities to come knocking. And unless the Uncle is a sadist, die-harden criminal belt on self-destruction, no person of African descent knowing what they have passed through to maintain their US credentials and having the ability to invite a relative from Nigeria to join them abroad will want to risk all on that and their immediate family in the US by doing what you have just described.....the risk-reward (if at all there is any reward, though I see none) is not even close! 1 Like |

I will advise you numerically. 1. Check if truly your uncle owns a hospital. Google is name and cheek on the BBB website to be sure. ***Some years back an American lady was introduced to my friend for marriage, he was told she owns 3 hospitals we later discover it to be false. 2. Due to covid 19, most embassies unofficially suspend visa issuance. They also give denials for those with previous interviews appointment. ***I don't want to mention their names but I know of an embassy that has a 30-month backlog of visa applications. They have decided that throughout 2022 they will only issue visas for undeniable cases, they have decided to use 2022 to restructure their staff and do renovation work. Given the above, I will advise you to pursue your nursing career and before you know it, you are done. With your nursing certificate, you have something to fall back on and if your uncle is sincere, he can then help you. 3. Signing a contract with your uncle is not advisable. *** Your uncle may likely use a visiting visa, what if after two years he tell you babe you are on your own. By then you would have overstayed your visiting visa and been branded as an illegal migrant. Do you know the pain of being illegal when caught? 4. If you don't have a passport now, it may likely take you 2-3month to obtain one. Another 3 months to get an interview by then you have wasted a year. Please pursue your nursing career now you have the time. 1 Like |

Aunty you better stay in Nigeria and finish with your nursing school, Nursing is a hot cake, you will see how opportunities to travel legally abroad will open up for you after you finish your nursing school. Don't mind your uncle and don't let your family pressure you to go. Goodluck 2 Likes |

Cousin9999: And, where did it say that, she is been trafficked or you guys just came up with that or you are assuming the worst case scenario as the default thing that will happen here? There are valid nanny visa in the USA, though very hard to get; so it is not entirely impossible that the Uncle is saying the truth because childcare in the US is very expensive if it not government subsidized....Yes, I agreed that anyone can be potentially trafficked, but US is not high risk destination for African traffickers and the risks of getting caught and severely punished are very very high. Traffickers also know that, the US is not like Europe when potential traffickers are afraid of reporting to the Police for fear of getting deported, in the US an illegal's immigrant can walk into a Police station or dial 911 the slightest chance they get and drop the phone without saying a single word and the authorities will come knocking. Nothing here say, she should not be cautious; but we should not default to the worst case scenario here. |

This is a very dicey situation and many points have to be answered before you make your final decision. 1. Your uncle wants you to come to take care of his children. In America today, people really need childcare especially in this COVID era. That's his primary concern, not your education. How sure are you that he will sponsor your education as he said when the time comes? Childcare here in the US is EXPENSIVE. 2. How are you going to come? Like someone said, are you coming as a visitor? I hear getting visas other than student is a daunting task now and that interviews are backed up until 2024,, and there's even no assurance you will be granted a visa. Are you willing to hold your education on the premise that he will "sponsor" your education after two years? If I were you, rather than wait, I will enroll in Nursing school. Getting into the US these days is not as easy as it was before. Don't build your future based on mere promises. Get your qualifications first, then write your NCLEX exams. You will have a better chance that way than to come empty handed. Nurses are in high demand here in the US. I know that cos my mum is an RN here and i know how much she makes. Your uncle's priority is his children, not you. 1 Like |

Even without considering the scamming risk, why be a nanny when you can be training as a nurse and getting valuable experience? There's also the issue of the visa. This "uncle" is likely to have you there illegally. That will ruin your chances of legally working abroad in a good position. 1 Like |

The thought of wasting 2 years of your life babysitting doesn't appeal to me except if there is a contractual agreement that you will be paid for that services. Proceeding with your nursing school will be a much viable option. Thanks. 1 Like |

linearity: America isn't Disneyworld. And even if the uncle never harms her, you have to look at the reality that he likely won't finance her education, and will have her there illegally. She also likely won't be earning much money if any, so what is she getting out of it? |
