UN, ECOWAS Condemn Attempted Coup In Guinea Bissau by Nobody: 5:59pm On Feb 01, 2022
ECOWAS is following with great concern the evolution of the situation in Guinea Bissau on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, involving military fire around the Presidential Palace.

ECOWAS condemns this coup attempt and holds the military responsible for the safety of President Umaro Sissoco EMBALO and members of his Government.

ECOWAS asks the military to return to their barracks and maintain a republican posture.

The United Nations has also expressed concern over the incident in Bissau.

The @UN Secretary-General, @antonioguterres, is deeply concerned with the news of heavy fighting in the capital of Guinea-Bissau.

Mr. Guterres asks for an immediate end to the fighting and for full respect of the country’s democratic institutions.

Portugal condemns "armed movements" in Guinea-Bissau's capital

The Minister of State and Foreign Affairs, Augusto Santos Silva, condemned today the "armed movements" taking place in Bissau and stressed that there is no news of any problem among the Portuguese in the country.

Statement by the Chairperson of the Commission on the situation in Guinea Bissau

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, is following with deep concern the situation in Guinea Bissau characterized by the attempted coup against the Government of the country.

He calls on the soldiers to return, without delay, to their barracks and to ensure the physical integrity of President Umaro Sissoco Embalo and members of his government and to immediately release those among them in detention.

Hmm

Africans are waking up...just that after all of these, power fall at the hems of corrupt people again. But still, it is a wake up call for these greedy African politicians.

I hope the greedy and egoistic Western world; especially France, whose means of livelihood is being threatened by all these coups, won't use this opportunity to turn Africa to another battle field.

Oh really? Useless ineffectual,inconsequential and lightweight buffons;only good with issuing statements and condemnations. I am sure they would fall in line and to the whims and caprices of the dissidents if or when the onslaughts against the ruling authority succeed.
