The narrative is changing. 2023 will greatly test Nigeria's democratic system.
First of all, people should quit thinking of any oppostion or ghost party takeover. It won't happen
APC needs to act maturely and follow the gentleman's agreement reached at a round table and we will witness a smooth transition of govt.
Else if: Chaos.

I strongly believe APC will follow the right path.

These guys would never come out to condemn bad but will be quick to hypocritally condemn an attempt to resist those bunch of greedy politicians!

There's hardly anything they can do for you against your politicians cause you practice democracy and your politicians are democratically elected. You alone can help yourself. Let's not project blames. They only get involved when a certain group of people forcefully take over power.

cool

Our problem is not religion and ethnicity, or a lack of science and tech

Our problem is we think we can live on the revenue we earn from selling raw materials to western markets, instead of using the same raw materials to make products the world needs.

Most of the industrial countries became industrial when many of them were still largely religious. It is only in the last 50 years that most of them have abandoned religion. A lot of inventors were deeply religious.

But like I said, we have to become productive, whether religion or no religion.

I don't like Buhari, but in two years, he would be gone.

There is no sign of him going for third term, he won in 2015 and 19 because the opposition was divided,(especially in 2015, when PDP lost states it had no business losing, and in one case, they lost because the PDP governor messed up after 8 years) and because he had the kind of voter base that was built over a decade that many of our politicans don't have....and no I don't regard him as a good leader for those reasons.

God really saved Buhari that he didn't increase fuel price.
Those who advised him to remove subsidy at this time are his enemies. He should beware of them.

The reason why they cannot do that, corruption aside, is that most African countries use the revenue from their preffered raw material to do the function that tax revenue does in developed countries.

In Nigeria, we rely on oil for our revenue for budget every year since the early 1990's. Meanwhile, oil prices most of the time are never where we want them, and as a result, revenue from oil is never high enough for our needs. Thus we take loans and thus we don't have enough money for roads, etc etc.

We could solve our budget problems if we raised more revenue from taxes, and if we remove subsides on petrol as well as diversify into selling other raw materials, and long term, industrializing. But we won't do that because apparently we are poor and apaprently imported goods are better than Nigerian goods. And we have a poor opinion of our selves. The corruption that we blame for all our problems makes the bad situation worse.

And army rule does not improve things. Most African countries had coups, and still ended up being poor several years after the coup. Mauritania had a coup, and the country is still broke. The same Army you are looking for salvation comes from the same mass as the civillian rulers.

Democracy and good governance is always hard work. Do the hard work of holding leaders accountable. You are not going to get a general Park ruling you if the army takes over, most of the time it is a general Mobutu, who took over by coup in Congo to popular acclaim, and left in disgrace with a fortune larger than his country's reserves., and his country in shambles.(and even Park was a harsh and wicked ruler, who just had the good sense to leave economic and industrial matters to experts)
