Looking at how this afcon has played out so far, I have the feeling that Rohr would have taken us to the final with his conservative style of football.
I enjoyed our style of play during the afcon but we were not ripe enough for that approach, got carried away with initial success and threw caution away.
How we outplayed the Tunisians even with a man down showed our superior quality. with a more careful approach, I feel we would have dispatched them. Two major events in the game prove my point;
1. Ola Aina was in a better position to intercept that long pass to the scorer or at least maintain position to prevent the player going on a run with the ball. Awaziem or even Shehu would have done better in that instance.
2. Iwobi received a simple pass, ball was under his control and in a split second he lost connection with the ball and desperately lounged into a bad tackle.
Lastly, the fact that we lacked clinical finishers and good goalkeepers should have made us more careful.

If Rohr was in charge, we would have lost to Egypt and struggled the second spot with Guinea B.
The Rohr I saw during the Qualifiers, has got absolutely nothing more to offer.
Man would be losing at home to the likes of C.A.R, and co.

Let him go jare...

Why are you still arguing with these people?

It's obvious they have a strong bias for local coaches(competent or incompetent) and will support them in whatever they do. They are guilty of the very same thing they accuse other people of. If it was Rohr who lost against that depleted Tunisian side, would they have made the same excuse they're currently making for Eguavoen?
Tunisia is a top team all of a sudden. The same Tunisia we beat at the last AFCON and it was their first eleven.

I hated Rohr's tactics. I totally despised them, so much so I stopped watching a lot of our matches but the man gave us results when they mattered the most. Results are the most important thing in cup competitions.

This is why I wanted him sacked AFTER the AFCON and not before, especially if he didn't win it. That way we would have a much better excuse to get rid of him.

Rohr's team would have reached the semis of this AFCON, meaning they would've beaten Tunisia and BF but I can't say they would've defeated Senegal.

Senegal currently has 7 UCL players. Significantly more than any other nation in the AFCON. They simply have better talent right now and should win this cup hands down if they can handle the shenanigans and dirty tricks that Egypt will bring.

Would we have topped the group to meet Tunisia in the round of 16 when we don't have players in the mould of Salah in our team?

I don't know why most of us are not considering the possibility of us ending second in the group to have met the opponents that the Egyptians met in the later stages. I'm sure we would have left in the group stage with the absence of all the key players we have.

Our opposition in the group stage now was tougher than 2019 yet we ended second in the group.

well, Ghana can still contract him to work as an advisor to the team. At this point, Ghana is not looking at all to employ Gernot. But I personally think they should pick his brain on the Nigerian team, and of course pay him for that consultancy. That is a pragmatic way to go.

I wish Ghana would do this and take the advice to heart. Rohr wey no understand the tools at his disposal

We can only predict the future based on the past until it proves otherwise. I believe we would have topped our group.

We would would have defeated Tunisia based on what I saw Burkina Faso do to them..

Rohr would have had different players to start with anyway. Rohr does not field players based on how they're performing in Europe. He fields players based on how they perform in the Super Eagles. From his long experience with the team, he can tell quickly whether a player brings something to the table or not.

So many variables to count.

Under Rohr we would have lost to Egypt in the opening game.. Struggled against Sudan and maybe lost to Guinea-Bissau.

We would have held hands with Ghana bowing out at the same time.. to meet again in the double header

I blame am in some ways, but at the same time stuffs like this can happen to very good keepers, if we had equalized and carried the day maybe he would have made up for it at some point and it will all be forgotten.

This is sophistry not real argument. Did we lose because we played "fancy football"? What was beautiful about the way we played? Was that beautiful football? Was the match against Tunisia beautiful football in your eyes?

Lol .. LiveScore fans..Then plenty everywhere.. Anybody that wants to label Eguavon a failure is doing so out of painment and not reality.

The main reason I'm supporting him to continue is because I saw a lot of improvement in the team under him.. Individually, some players like Simon, Ekong and Ndidi put in the kind of performance we have always wanted from them, while Aina and Aribo were given more freedom to roam. As a team, we pressed more, attacked better, retained possession better and moved the ball around better.. Even Eguavon's hardcore critics can't deny the facts on ground... One moment of bad luck doesn't mean there won't be better ones ahead.

I remember when Klopp took over from Rodgers in the middle of the season.. Our performance greatly improved with the same corp of players Rodgers was playing rubbish with..That same season we reached two cup finals but were unlucky to lose both. It didn't stop most of the fans from believing in Klopp..We know what happened afterward..

Eguavon is no Klopp, and I'm not saying we should give him 5 years like Rohr.. But looking at how good he made the team look despite having a short period of time and unavailable key players to prepare, I'd say he has earned the rights to another chance!
Will Eguavoen succeed or fail in the future? I don't know. But to label him a failure now because of our early afcon exit is simply unfair.

Rohr had 5 long years oo.

There's just something about Egypt and finals, you just can't bet against them. Concerning Senegal, I just hope they don't turn to the Belgium of Africa, so much talent, little trophies.

My bro, hear talk. I'm surprised at the narrative here.

Abeg tell me, did we play beautiful football? The quality of football at this present afcon was so poor especially the opening games such that when Nigeria played, we played with energy and co-ordination and people were impressed. Tell me, what extraordinary thing did our players do that one can say they played beautiful football and that was what made them lose?

Wingers who couldn't cross, is that beautiful football? GK who could not command his line and be alert, was that beautiful football?

We lost and all of a sudden, there's a bawling condemnation of beautiful football. So is this real criticism or the fluff of painment?

Bottom line for me in all these talk, is that don't lose. A wise man is regarded as a fool if he loses.
