These are examples of Nigerians who went to school without asking themselves for one day, "How can I solve real-world problems with the knowledge I have acquired in school?"

One thing they normally do is blame the government for unemployment. Yes, we have them everywhere.

There are people who are professional students. They love to sit in class, learn and write exams. However, they find real life application very challenging. Something as little as being a bad interviewee (cannot market himself) could be his problem.

Very laughable title, "two degrees and a Ph.D". What then is a Ph.D? Maybe if his Ph.D was classified as a degree, he would have gotten a job.

Which universities awarded his degrees and doctorate?

Did he actually complete a Doctor of Philosophy program in 3 years here in Nigeria or elsewhere?

BTW the phone number provided is not reachable!

That is why they are categorized dumbs. Anyone that chose higher education above basic means of life...is simply fool.

Basic education is must, basic means of life is must also. So on the scale of sanity, anyone who chose higher education above his means of living is fool.

Don't tell me that his current job offers him a security for his means of living.

By means of living, I mean standard life. So I know you're smart to know so.

You are still making the same mistake. That someone chose differently from you does not mean that they are dumb as long as it is what they want.

The issue of being dumb or not will come with them trying to deny or not take responsibility for the consequences of their choices.

He chose to be educated and couldnt find a job that matches he profile he had to face the consequences by doing the job that is available.

What I would consider dumb is that if he had chosen to be educated and afterwards couldn't find a job that matches his profile instead of doing what is available but rather resorts to crime like most Nigerian youths and when apprehended they will blame it on the satan or the economy of the country.

What about someone that is educated and found the perfect job but lost it and decided to that which is available until something better turns up are you going to consider the person dumb? What of someone that is educated and while searching for jobs that matches his or her profile decided to do other jobs in the meantime are you going to call the person a fool?

We live in a country whereby most of the degrees we acquired do not correlate with our jobs. I graduated from the Department of Political science & International relations, but I currently work in a heavy equipment operator training firm where I am earning well. Most of our trainee operators earn more than what some firms or banks can pay their employees in a month. We have trained Ph.D. holders, masters, and even BSc graduates to operate heavy machinery. Therefore, working in a company or a bank as an accountant does not mean good pay. some bank workers are earning between 50k to 100k depending on their duties and ranks. Maybe he is earning more as a laborer.

Please boss, I sent you a private message.

It is not always about pay my friend! It is about applying your knowledge and skills where it is more appropriate. That is what would guarantee job satisfaction!

I'm sure this man would have preferred working with his degrees as a lecturer in a university or as a researcher in a research institution or other organizations, but the corruption and nepotism in Nigeria hindered him. It's unfortunate!

People! Never you make the mistake of studying higher degrees without a job first, especially PhD. It usually doesn't end well for the person.

I don't know his whole story but with a PhD, he should not find it too difficult getting a lecturing job (if he wants to lecture) with all these private higher institutions springing up.

In trying not to be biased I will like to know more about his profile. How many papers has he published on international journals ? Has he put his knowledge into use or he follows whatever direction the money goes ? I say this because when I completed a bachelors + masters in computer science and moved to nigeria as a youth corp member many (family members) made fun of me for refusing to listen to them. I was trying to get a software development job as a youth corper but they said I must teach. By the time I came back from camp I had an offer letter (contract) from a tech company. A friend later came to advise me to get in touch with an uncle who was senior at NNPC to get me a job there as I was wasting my time with this tech thing that doesnt work in nigeria. Within a few months many of them began to question my source because they felt I was doing far better than they expected. Many times I wrote to potential employers I told them about some of their problems and how I intended to solve it. I once met with a bank director (one of the big five) and told him how they needed to unify their software systems across the different countries where they had recently bought over other banks and how I had done a similar project in the past. He was impressed and asked if I could bring up to 4 people with me to form a team. An offer came a few days later but I had to turn it down because the offer required my fulltime presence which I wasnt ready to commit to.

My point is that as individuals we need to overcome our fears and face challenges as they come. If I had listened to my family members 5 years ago I'd have abandoned computer science and gone into the immediate next thing that paid some money. One of my friends back in university was someone I saw as a potential top virologist. She was so good and earned a masters in virology with an option to continue to PHd. While this offer was on the table her uncle in Atlanta assisted her in securing a fellowship at US CDC in atlanta in 2015. Her parents asked her to return to Nigeria and get married as she was nothing if she wasn't married. She moved to nigeria , got married and never went back to the field of microbiology/virology. She's now into bead making/sewing.

Nigeria has a way of killing people's dreams and most times the people we hang around with influence our decisions . There is so much quest for money among nigerians that people tend to face the direction of the money. A commissioned army officer will not leave his job after a few years to go and become a security man in mobil because they offer him more money. I know a doctor in training who abandoned the field to go into the business of buying cows in the northern region and taking to sell in the eastern region. His reason was that it paid him more money than he will earn as a doctor in training. This is the kind of society we live in where its all about the money
