Thanks a lot for the advice. I have a better perspective now.

Hello b139

Like I always advise applicants, one of the things to put into consideration when applying for a study Visa is Home ties.

There are 2 ways of applying for a student visa as a family:

- You can apply as a family for a study visa application and still get your visa but the chances are very slim, the reason is that this is a temporary visa you are applying for and not a permanent residence Visa.. So you will have to come back home after your studies( even though no one comes back home) cos that is what the Visa officer wants, and there must be a concrete reason for your coming back home and this is where Home ties comes in, now when you all go together, the Visa officer knows you wont come back since you are going as a family, considering you actually applied for a Temporary Visa..

2. You can apply alone, when you get to Canada, you can apply for a spousal permit for your Hubby and Visiting Visa for your Kids. With this kind of application, you have reasons to come back to your home countries i.e your family members will stand as Home ties, cos the Visa Officer will know that you won't wanna leave your family and stay put in Canada.. So you will use your family as home ties and convince the Visa officer you can't leave your family behind in your home country and remain in Canada, so that is why I always advise family applicants to go first and then apply for their family members once they get there..

So bottom line, you can actually get your study permit with both categories, but you have more chances of approval with the 2nd option..

Peace

Good morning all,

Please I need the gurus in the house to help me out here.

My husband and I applied separately for a Canadian student Visa last year, he was refused in May, but I was approved in June.

We applied for the second time for his as he would like to further his education as well, he doesn’t have a BSC and would like to get one. We included everything possible, however this time instead of his brother sponsoring him, he is sponsoring himself, we included what he’s been doing since graduating secondary school and what he is doing now, with strong SOP but was refused again.

Now we have been advised to apply for a spousal open work permit (sowp), once I get my study permit and then he can come and join me. I also ordered for the gcms so we can see what we are missing.

I traveled to Canada in December to obtain a study permit, on getting there I found a school I prefer much more than the one I initially applied with, I applied for a 4 yr bsc even though I already have a masters, but it’s a different degree. Now I found a shorter version of the course which is 2 years diploma.

I applied to the school and I am awaiting decision, however the school resumes in sept 2022 which exceeds the 150 day out of school rule, so I can’t change my dli on the portal. Instead, I came back to Nigeria as I didn’t want to violate any rules while I await response for the school and re apply for a new study visa.

Now my question is, can I include my husband in this new application as accompanying and apply for a SOWP without it affecting my decision because I don’t want to do this without him, we have been married not even 2 years and I am dreading separating from him.

Also we have ordered the gcms notes and should get it before the new application, that way we can see the issue on his applications.

I have a good travel history and my bsc and msc is for a uk university, I also have an active 10 year Uk visa.

I just need to know if we should go ahead with our decision or any advice that can be rendered will be very much appreciated.

Thank you in advance

Good morning house, pls I’m about to submit my application my place of work is sponsoring me, and they hv provided all documents required of a sponsor, including payment of my first semester tuition of 9800 CAD. On my own part I do not have any physical cash but I hv landed properties & my immediate family here as home ties. Now my concern is that, is it necessary I submit my SOA where my salary is been paid even though there’s no money in it? Is it important to have my own personal money or gift deed as POF too? My admission is in May, is it wise to defer it till September to enable me raise money or I should depend solely my sponsor’s SOA. Pls I need your advice gurus in the house as this would enable me make this decision of submitting the application or deferring the admission @Makano @ketima @@frankrobbn1 @lekiboboe @ anon123 and other gurus pls help a sister

According to everything I have read so far, and based on personal situations, it would be advisable to add your personal finances and assets even if you won’t be sponsoring yourself. You should try to add pay slips from the company or the account the company pays into.

If you can, get someone to send you some money and do a gift deed certificate on the money so there is something in your account.

They always want you to demonstrate personal finances and assets no matter what.

It’s all right ☺️

Basically you can’t be in Canada without a status for more than 150 days.

Just apply I know of a close friend that got his student visa without even submitting his SOA. Your tuition seems like that of Algonquin college. You can get it without your own SOA.

Good evening everyone grin,

I'm here again with my wahala grin
So my sponsor has this landed property which she had acquired back in the days, then she didn't get a deed of assignment or any form of documents to prove her ownership of the land.
So my question is:
Is there anyway I can prove she is the owner of the land to ircc.
My personal opinion on landed documents she should do a deed of transfer, and survey plan then register it with the Ministry of lands. Or get a C of O but getting C of O is costly oh. Registering it with the ministry is cheaper and still recognized.

This is a very tight call and bold decision. I just hope they reconsider your next application and grant you a study permit on the ground of good conduct or character. Honestly, you are the only person I have heard off that entered Canada and returned back to Nigeria to apply again for study permit after the first application was granted. Your best bet remains leaving your spouse behind. That amongst others could be one of the main reasons for your previous visa approval. Unless you have lots of established home ties, applying with your husband may weaken your application.

Ok first of all this isn't for me. I applied for my best friend, Bsc., Memorial university.

First application: March 3rd
Refusal: July 7th
From gcms notes, based on proof of funds and her mother's salary of about 170k was not commensurate with her salary and they couldn't see the account statement clearly (it was blurry because of low quality)

2nd application: 27th September
Upfront medicals and biometrics from previous application.

What we did different was she took IELTS for NSE, used mybankstatement. Her dad brought his account too (he didn't before) and she paid first semester tuition and started first semester online. We didn't defer. We believed.

Medicals wasn't updated and I felt they didn't see it and so I kept resending it through webform till it was updated to pass the following week.
Eligibility started December 7th
Ghost update January 14th or so
2nd ghost update January 31st

Over 600 emails to different offices(who begged me to stop) and 50 webforms. Only Abuja helped honestly.

PPR dropped February 7th
Abuja even sent a mail saying I have received an IMPORTANT LETTER from Nairobi. God is wonderful.

As for me, I have applied to university of Winnipeg for this fall for Msc. I got a supervisor with over 20k dollars in funding and I am just waiting for the official admission letter. I now have experience from processing my friends own and from this wonderful nairaland thread. Anyone who comes to me for advice I need only give them this thread link.

Thank you family. Canada will favour us

Thank you for responding.

I know it’s a tight call, that’s why I am checking all possible route before taking this step.

My options are to either attend and pay for a semester at a school I don’t want to go to and waste 2 million naira, then my husband applies for a SOWP, reapply without attaching my husband, after being granted he would then apply for sowp or add him to my new application.

At this point, I am at a cross road.
