Let these umu Okokos come here and tell me why their soupleem reader cannot be a man like Ojukwu and give the president an ultimatum .

Can't IPOB tell him he has a 2months ultimatum to give you a referendum or you declare independence. Then by April if no referendum declare independence. undecided

That's what Ojukwu did. Why cannot Soupleem Reader do the same?

That declaration by Gen Ojukwu was a tragic mistake that shouldn't have happened and as for umu bingos their own is to collect monthly dues and organize fund raising for Onyendufu.

I as a person who lived through the civil war can tell you that hindsight is a privilege nobody has. At the time the vast majority of our people felt we had no other option. We were being massacred and chased home from all parts of Nigeria and Gowon was unable or unwilling to end the killing of Igbos.
I can tell you as somebody who lived through the entire war as an infant who was 3 years old when it broke out, there was never a time any Igbo man regretted the decision to secede.

Ojukwu became an irrevocable hero and father in Igbo hearts, we truly believed that losing the war meant our total annihilation. I can tell you I never saw anybody criticize the Biafran government not even in the darkest days of the war.

When the war was over even as a 6 years old I was able to understand the overall mood of our people was not regret, but relief that we have survived and our suffering was over.

The Biafran soldiers were dropping their rifles in huge piles at the side of the road and were in high spirits that they did not have to fight anymore and can finally go and find their out about the fate of their families.

When Ojukwu returned from exile in 1983 the heroic reception he received was a testament to how he was loved for the strong leadership he gave us at our time of need.

Ojukwu should have allowed people in the Eastern region to avenge the killing of our people in North and West than declaring unilateral secession without preparation or international support. If our people was also hunting down northerners living throughout Eastern region and kill them all like they were doing in the North they would have gotten sense by force.

We played into the hands of our enemies by declaring independent nation and they used the opportunity to deal a fatal blow on us that we haven't recovered till today.Mind you the killings has stopped when Biafra was declared. The main bone of contention between Ojukwu and Gowon was that the East refused to recognise Gowon as the head of state after the death of Gen Ironsi and Gowon's failure to implement Aburi accord rather he desolved the regions and created states that was what led to Ojukwu declaration of Biafra as a nation. If that war was avoided 3 million of our people wouldn't have died and Igboland won't be seen as a defeated territory today.
Re: Why IPOB has Not Declared Independent Biafra. by Nobody: 12:37am On Feb 09, 2022
I don't think you are old enough to have witnessed the war. We who endured the war know the reasons we declared independence and that those reasons were valid. That is all that matters .
Hindsight is a luxury that nobody has.
I 100% support how Ojukwu handled matters during the whole crisis and I assure you you would find almost no Igbo that lived through that era that would fault Ojukwu.
There were far more of us in other regions than the other regions had in Igboland, we would have lost more the tit for tat killings.
Igbos were still running home at the time of the declaration so the killings had reduced a lot as most Igbos by that time had made it home.
Many had businesses homes and jobs they had abandoned so the urgency was also not just to stop the killing but to stop it's re-occurrence if Igbos were to return to their homes and businesses.
Its easy say we made a mistake with benefit of hindsight. But nobody knows for sure whether our fate may not have been worse had we not taken a strong stance we did.
What if the killer mobs had pursued us into our region?
Trust me I suffered the war and I was one of those starving children with bloated bellies and if not because my mother was a trainee nurse, I probably would not have made it. So I truly understand why wars should be avoided.
I maintain that without the benefit of hindsight Ojukwu cannot be faulted on his handling of the crisis.

You were only 3 years old when the war started .
If we had gone for tit for tat we wouldn't have lost 3 million or more and they wouldn't have dare come into our region to kill people because that would have been suicidal for them.Majority supported the war but not everyone. Some adviced against it were called sabo just like today many of us are cautioning IPOB to thread with caution. If Ojukwu cannot be faulted he wouldn't have accepted or lobbied for amnesty from the government he fought against for conditional pardon. Why would you go into a war you know you have no weapon no food no international support nor matter the provocation. He should have resigned after the collapse of Aburi accord and allow Ukpabi Asika take over as appointed by Gowon. That would have ended the whole crisis.

Again Ojukwu never had the benefit of hindsight and we do not know for sure what the outcome of any decision would be we can only speculate.

Yes not just majority of Igbos but the overwhelming majority of Igbos were fully behind Ojukwu's decision to secede.

Ojukwu had more promises of support before the war than the support he received from other nations the war began. Even Awolowo was saying that if we secede, the West would also secede.
Hindsight they say is 20-20 vision smiley

You do not understand Ojukwu probably did not want to secede as much as the Igbo masses wanted, whether he resigned or not the unstoppable train towards secession had been set in motion and any leader not willing to secede would have been quickly cast aside.
If Ojukwu's government had just allowed matters to drift , who to say Gowon would not have invaded anyway? After all Ojukwu had stopped taking orders from Gowon and if he was not intentional with his actions and Gowon took the initiative with a surprise attack, who knows if the casualities would have been any less?
And let us be clear Ojukwu never declared war he declared independence. Gowon declared war.
