Hardest course in University can be proved from secondary school down to university. Right from secondary school, science class is considered harder than other like art, social science and commercial class. Science class from secondary school is believed to be convergence of brilliant minds more than any other class. In science class, most brilliant minds are either aspiring to study medicine or engineering (..in majority than any other). Further maths remains difficult subject on secondary school among science students.

Many science students run away from it by sticking to economics because it is mostly considered difficult subject than other. Even among many science students who prefer to study medicine in secondary school, they do so by running away from further maths. Biology is easy to pass in jamb compared to maths at jamb level. When you get to university, further maths majority of brilliant minds in secondary school run away from becomes elementary or introduction to engineering maths in University.

As from 200level, advance engineering maths and it's related application remains toughest and hardest course. Therefore, engineering remains toughest course of study. Medicine is not as hard as engineering, it is only given prestige because it deals with human being while engineering deals with engine or non living thing.

Had it been we have computer Programming as a course in Nigeria, it should probably qualify as the hardest course because it requires a lot of analytical thinking which also involves being good in maths.




Medicine like you said isn't difficult like many think, the only thing is, it is more prestigious than engineering because it has to do with saving human lives unlike Engineering.

Pharmacy is never harder than medicine.
Let me tell you a little about medicine.
In 100level, medical students do better than all science students in physics, chemistry, biology & maths.

Now back to medical courses proper.
Pharmacy students find it very difficult to understand anatomy. Meanwhile anatomy is like ABC for medical students. Same goes to physiology & biochemistry.

The biochemistry you think is so difficult are also studied by medical students. If you are studying biochemistry, pls do well to interact with 300level medical students. Then you will understand what I mean.
The medical curriculum doesn't end at that level.
Those courses are regarded as basic medical sciences.
Now for pharmacology which both medical & pharmacy students offer, it is very glaring that medical students understand pharmacological concepts much more than pharmacy students. This has been argued repeatedly but to confirm, if u are currently studying pharmacy, do well to interact with a medical student at 400l. How to go about it? Test him on topics both of you have been taught. However, if both of you are close to exams, you can test him on all aspect of pharmacology.

The medical curriculum doesn't end at 400L(pathology & pharmacology). Infact, those, along side anatomy, biochemistry & physiology are regarded as basic medical courses.
Infant, the real medical lectures begin from 500Level, after you may have attained some competence in basic medicine.

You talk about duration, Pharmacy is also 6 years, law is also 6 years, vetenary medicine is six years, same with optometry and physiotherapy. Engineering, agriculture, forestry, fishery, crop science, animal science, etc. Are 5 years, so don't come here to be imposing your view on anyone.

I won't choose pharmacy if I were to choose, I think the hardest course is vetenary medicine, but I can't be forcing my view on anyone.

In health sciences, medicine is the most difficult course to study.
Engineering is at the same level with medicine. however, it is Important to state that students who are withdrawn from medicine do very well, sometimes getting a first class in engineering.
That leaves so much to say about medicine.

Pharmacy is a noble profession. It's surely a stressful and exhausting course, but it's worth it in the end. As men of honour......
And noble shall pharmacy remain!
