Israel halted an attempt by the US to transfer several batteries of the Iron Dome defense system to Ukraine over worries it would damage its relations with Russia, the Ynet news site reported on Tuesday.

According to the report, the defense system’s capabilities — especially during the 2021 Gaza war — piqued the interest of Ukrainian officials.

The country’s representatives began working vigorously in Washington last year to persuade US lawmakers to initiate a transfer of the rocket and mortar defense system to them.

The Ukrainian government officially asked the Biden administration to transfer Patriot and Iron Dome missiles to Ukraine last spring.

At the time, when then there were no worries of a possible Russian invasion, both Democratic and Republican lawmakers supported the transfer.

According to the report, Israeli officials made it clear to the US administration in informal talks that it wouldn’t agree to the transfer of Iron Dome batteries to Kyiv, fearing it would hurt its relations with Russia, especially in light of Moscow’s influence over Syria.

The Ukrainians, in turn, have in recent months made direct requests to the Israeli government and asked for officials to approve the sale.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said last Wednesday that his country was seeking greater cooperation with Israel on air defense technology amid fears of a Russian invasion. An Israel TV report specified that Ukraine has been in contact with Israel regarding the Iron Dome missile defense system, other missile warning technologies, and cyber defense technology.

During a press conference, Kuleba said there was “very deep cooperation… under the current circumstances” between Kyiv and Jerusalem, without elaborating.

“We are also interested in deepened defense cooperation on defense technology, in particular related to air defense,” he told a reporter from the Kan public broadcaster.

He added, “we would welcome the effort of Israel to play a diplomatic role between Ukraine and Russia,” apparently owing to the Jewish state’s close ties with both nations.

It's all about relationship and Ally. The world has changed from before, every country is now relevant because of their friendship with bigger nations.

It'll be rare for any war to take place now between just two countries, directly or indirectly, other nations would be involved.

So what does Ukraine has to offer? She's offering her proximity advantage of being beside Russia to Russia's enemy, US. That enough is even an importance to the West, cos US having a millitary base beside Russia is a very huge edge for them, whereas Russia doesn't even have anyone close to the US at all.

Ukraine's proximity negotiations seems to be working well for it as Russian troops are moving out now that the US has raised alarm that Russia plans to strike today.



Raising that alarm would have given the US the justification to start preparing to deal with Russia but Russia has prevented that by pulling out.


Presently, the US is still the boss in this particular 'love' triangle.

Russia made it clear from day one that it has no intention invading Ukraine. They mentioned it in every meeting they had with the West. They even went as far as mentioning the duration for the military drill.

But the Western leaders (US & UK) kept raising false alarm. They kept calling on thier citizens to leave. While the Ukrainian president kept telling the world that he does not think Puttin has made the decision yet. Ukrainian president was alarmed by the US & UK leaders actions. He knew that it was nothing but propaganda.

Why do you think that the Germans and the French didn't take the warnings issued by the US & UK serious?

Iron dome is designed to intercept cheap rocket fire by Hezbollah or Hamaz into Israel. The Israel wanted to be able to intercept these rockets without breaking the bank. This gave birth to Iron dome.

Iron dome is not going to be effective against Russia. The defense system will be taken out in no time. Israelis defense system like David Sling can be effective not Iron dome.

Israel will not allow those def missiles to Ukraine because of her big relationship with Russia.
Russia is the one preventing Iran from able to strike back Israel from Syria.
It’s Russia that allow Israel to do whatever they like in Syria and it was them that moved out Iran military advisers from getting close to Southern Syria and stopped a military operations against those rebels because that will give Iran a full advance against Israel in the south.
Around 1-2M Israelis are also Russians.
