gypsey: Accused? He was charged and arrested and several people, including his superior, provided written affidavits. He still has to be arraigned, tried, sentenced, and sued. His license will be suspended at least temporarily. Affidavits from eyewitnesses are powerful and none of them will perjure themselves. Regardless of how bad a place needs doctors one who has proven to be a liability will be shunned. |

vicksbaba: You described the test but after SEVERAL tests, her reflexes didn’t kick in to stop the slap like you said happens in a patient who is faking hence her injuries so HOW dare you say he was right to think she was faking? You totally contradicted yourself. A doctor of his caliber follows protocol, he doesn’t create it. He was on a power trip and went way too far and now he’ll suffer the consequences. |

juman: Small case? The $3,000 bond is only the beginning. He won’t qualify for a public defender and will need a lawyer for the arraignment, trial, and malpractice suit. His license is also at stake. Nothings small about this case. |

gypsey: In America, you are charged with a crime before you are arrested. Whether or not you will be convicted is not certain |

1stGenAmerican:That was what i tried to articulate earlier that he is just being accussed that doesn't make him guilty the case could still go in his favour after the court hearing. |

gypsey: His chances of winning are slim to none, especially with eyewitness affidavits. |

1stGenAmerican: Hi, @1stGenAmerican Good day. Please read the report again and note the following lines; The staffer said that despite seeing the patient clearly attempting to stop her hand from hitting her face. So yes, I dare say that she was faking it. This is most likely a case of Munchausen's syndrome. The patient attempted to stop her hand from hitting her face. All reflexes are lost in unconsciousness If she was unconscious, she wouldn't know that the doctor did a sternal rub. Please read the line below (the victim's own statement); The victim told police that she was “semi-unconscious” during the interactions but that she clearly remembered Nwabuko striking her and telling her that she was “faking the seizure,” per the affidavit. A patient who presents with generalized seizures with associated alteration of conciousness of any kind cannot remember events that occurred during the course of being unconscious. Her statements betrays her; she was clearly faking it. Yes, the doctor was wrong to have gone as far as inflicting injuries to her. He's most likely eccentric, and seeing the patient faking a seizure gave him a good laugh. Wrong, I know, but in the end, he was right. Yes, a hand drop test can be repeated severally; this is not just because reflexes are easy to miss but also, ones observation of a reflex can be biased. Like I said earlier, he breached the physician oath of "doing no harm". And that's why he got nailed. Protocol is a very vague word @A doctor of his caliber follows protocol; We don't know the full story so I can't really tell whether he followed protocol.. but from the statements made, I can make the following assumptions; 1) attempts at resuscitation had already being made 2) IV fluid was already in place (most likely had dextrose saline to correct hypoglycemia if she was hypoglycemic).. her blood sugar was fine 3) she failed the sternal rub test, and the doctor knew something was wrong. He then proceeded to do a hand drop test I want you to know that painful stimulus is normal protocol for accessing an unconscious patient. Squeezing the lunar area of her thumb with a pen would have been a better option than a hand drop test. P.S; Patients with munchausen syndrome often already know the handdrop test; most times, they have had this done for them in the past.. he was wrong repeating the same painful stimulus over and over when he knew he was dealing with psychogenic coma. I strongly doubt that those injuries were sustained by the hand drop test,.. the force from your own hand will not cause the lesions described... but that's story for another day... I want you to know that patients with munchausen can fake symptoms and injuries 2 Likes |

vicksbaba: Again, he overstepped his authority and committed a criminal act which led to him being charged. So for what reason would the other medical professionals that witnessed his actions risk their careers and freedom by submitting sworn affidavits? I would not be surprised if one of his colleagues recorded his actions when he returned to the room after his first exit. His arraignment will be interesting. |

1stGenAmerican: Yh, true he over stepped his authority. Going a third time to reconfirm a diagnosis he had already made using noxious stimuli was uncalled for. Yh, his arraignment will be very interesting. 3rd of March it is |

What kind of doctor is he, the article did not say? Anyway, there is a lot of information missing, just a couple of eyewitness accounts. Howbeit what would be his motivation for allegedly battering the patient. If the patient is faking from his medical opinion (for whatever reason) why not document it and request a consult from psychiatry for the patient? However, this could be a setup and the guy is just being blackmailed by a couple of people who hate him for being black and African. |

Village people are doing their shift again. What kind of seizure test was that? You should never accuse a sick person of faking their illness. Treat them and then note your observations. |

1stGenAmerican: Not forgetting this lady is going to drag him to a Civil court as well. I suspect stuff like this happens occasionally from medical people to especially junkies etc, however if your colleagues don't like you for whatever reason, be it arrogance or skin colour, you will soon find out that "shoe get size" |
