drDoom3:Doctor,and Calvin Bassey is the solution? In the just concluded Afcon, our defense lines were superb, losing to Tunisia had made a lot to talk shit about the team. I don't mind see Bassey as our LB competing with Sanusi and Collins.....my question do we really need a world class CB before we perform as a team?NO and fine we don't even have one, left for the coach to bring the best out on the available ones,a team with Semi,Awaziem,Omeruo,Ekong and Balogun should not be disturbed and our outing at last Afcon testified that we have a good defence line. I watched Bassey with keen interest recently and I would say a very promising young guy with full potential as LB but would be a great asset as SE squad member cos he can also do it as CB,meaning Collins out and one CB shoukd be dropped to give way for additional midfielder. 1 Like |

I just da laugh most of wanna for this thread, they sentiments and double standard wer wanna da practice ehhh, I remember last week most of you guys here wer bashing and insulting Hudson Odoi simply because he said he was only going to play for Ghana after the world cup qualifiers, most of you here insulted him and called him glory hunter, that if he were to be a Nigerian you guys will never allow him into the team, cos he doesn't want to suffer with the team during qualifiers but he wants to enjoy in the world cup. Now Olise has said the same thing (that he is going to play for the SE after the qualifiers) and you guys are here praising him for making a right decision, for accepting to switch blah blah blah. Mak wanna remember sa what is good for the goose is also good for the gander. 5 Likes |

Eguavoen Had Talks With Four Ex England Youth Stars On Switching To Nigeria- Two Accepted, Two Declined thedabigal.com.ng Feb 21, 2022 2:04 PM A source close to the coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Austine Eguavoen has revealed that he had talks with four players of Nigerian descent during his tour of England. The coach as first reported by this portal arrived England in the company of his assistant Emmanuel Amuneke for a visit an online meeting with players of the senior national team of Nigeria. Aside the meeting were issues surrounding bonuses were discussed. The coach also took out time to visit and hold talks with players eligible to represent Nigeria ahead of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers playoff game against Ghana. We gathered he spoke with Crystal Palace duo of Ebere Eze and Michael Olise on phone through a close contact. While details of their meeting still remains sketchy Olise however agreed to playing for Nigeria but will rather wait till after the World Cup qualifiers playoff. Eze on his part still asked for more time and said he is still working his way back to full fitness after a lengthy injury lay off, saying even if he files for switch now he will likely not get the all clear to play for Nigeria this year. Olise has no such issues. Meanwhile, Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo met with the crew where he made it clear to them that his intention still remains playing for England at senior international level. Southampton Nathan Tella was the other player spoken to by the crew. Tella expressed his excitement to playing for Nigeria and told the crew he is ready to play if called up as early as next month when they take on Ghana. He however need his switch of nationality to be in order before then. |

andrewbaba44: You are clutching at straws and making a false narrative. Pedro was essentially a youth player before he had played his first game for Las Palma's he was already in negotiations to sign up with Barcelona. He played his first game for Las Palma's at 16 on August 16, 2019 within two weeks he was contractually signed by Barcelona. Allowed to complete the season and after that he's been at Barcelona. That's totally misleading he is not a Segundo division created and found player. He is essentially a young Prodigy from Barcelona. His award's were won as a Barcelona player. Jordan Ibe played for Wycombe Wanderers at 15 , Liverpool bought at 16. Would you call him a league one player. I reiterate tell me how many player's have left the Segundo division to the top 5 teams of European football then top 5 of La Liga, then the EPL, Seria A, Bundesliga ❓ That's the question stop muddying the waters and changing the goal posts. Meanwhile it seems you have a very short memory. Let me remind you, 27th March 2018 , friendly football match in London Nigeria vs Serbia, we got beat 2-0. and who scored the two goals after mashing up our defenders Mitrovich. Dude dominated in the game. Finally, I doubt if there are any Segunda Division players good enough for the EPL. That's why there are none in the EPL. 2 Likes |

Eizzy003: Actually Hudson -Odio does not qualify to play for Ghana until after the qualifiers. He has 3 senior England caps one in a competitive game but all played before he was 21. This allows him to switch after three months when the FIFA mandatory time lapse would have expired. 3 Likes |

Kog45: Irrespective of longevity in the SE your club and league performance are still a barometer for selection to any national team. We don't know how good someboyis until given justifiable opportunity and selection. Omeruo looks slow dated and unable to cope with physicality from strong physical forward players. In the last AFCON Ajayi seemed a lot better to me, in addition Ajayi brings aerial dominance at set pieces and in defence. What does Omeruo bring , old age , longevity ❓ He should be dropped. We need better. Calvin is clearly better even better than Balogun. 4 Likes |

Eizzy003: Well....even though dts his intention too,to rep us at d world cup if we qualify... However juxtaposing the two comments..odoi said point blank DT he would only switch "if" Ghana qualifies(dts a conditional statement ,his switching hinges on Ghana's qualification, however for oliseh statement he said,"after" d Ghana's games..meaning he would be willing to join us once we are through with d Ghana fixture's whether we qualify or not So oliseh choice of words is d difference here ,although deep down we sabi say oliseh dey eye any country wey go qualify btw us and Algeria 1 Like |

komekn: What is segunda players coming to do in the epl when there is Laliga ,Laliga was the best league in the world till Chelsea lifted the champions league ,so I guess you where expecting segunda division players to make a move to the epl and leave Laliga which was the best league in the world then ? You must be joker Why are there no championship players in the Laliga ? Because they are not good enough also ,since you want to be using nonsense analysis Stop being delusional ,who asked you about mitrovic scoring against the eagles or not ? does that change the fact that it’s 100k weekly that’s keeping him at Fulham ? Mention the championship player that has won golden boy award and stop speaking out of point ? Should I remind you that he beat Jude Bellingham to win the golden boy award Oga pedri played a full season at las Palmas at the age of 16 playing over 35 league games before he moved to Barca took place ,no matter how you twist it he remains a segunda player before joining Barca Look at your solanke that failed at every epl club is now doing well at the Ekuke championship ,that should tell you how poor that league is |

komekn: Who did I make an assumption of? Is it Tammy Abraham, Tosin Adarabioyo, Jordan Ibe, Nedum Onuoha, Eberechi Eze, Olise? All these have something in common. They are English. From reports, even Lookman took time to submit his transfer request letter. The NFF should change its policy to reach out to them to play. Only players that are mentally prepared to play for us should we break ourselves for. All these traveling to beg and red carpet treatment should stop. Let them enjoy their egos until they are ready to play. When they are ready to play, their agents can reach out to the NFF to alert them that the player is ready to play. The NFF should have prestige. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 10:36am On Feb 22, 2022 |
Kog45: That should stop. We should have a policy that they reach out to us. We should focus more on youth development. We can raise a mean squad if we channel much effort to keep raising high-grade players from the youth level. We raised Ndidi, Iheanacho, Osimhen, Omeruo, Awoniyi, Isaac Success, Chidera Ejuke, etc from the youth grade system. If we channel funds and groom our coaches to make our scouting and development at this level proper, we can keep raising quality players. Coupled with any foreign-born with the passion to reach out t o us. As for any homegrown player that wants to focus on his career, we should give him full support by allowing him to focus on his club footie. Our focus should lie on those that want to play for us. Whether foreign, or home grown. We need the likes of Osimhen that was ready to defy odds with his club to play for us. Mikel went against Conte to join the Olympic teams. These are players with passion. Enough of all these red carpet treatment. 1 Like |

JohnBullMySon: All you are saying here does not change the point. The point is simple. Anyone bigger than the team should be given a chance to stay bigger than the team with his club. I do not care whether family or friends pressured him. That is his business. What matters is that they are not ready and we should focus on those eager to jump on the plane to play for us. I do not care if he will play AFCON qualifiers or not. Olise's passion should be for Nigeria to make the world cup and he should be willing to do all he can to help Nigeria make the world cup. He is showing he does not care if we make it to the world cup or not. All he cares about is that if we make it, we should call him to benefit from the glamour of playing on such a stage. Eguavoen and Amunike should shut that guy out of the team. For now. He should try next year if he is ready, wait for Algeria, and enjoy his stardom in Crystal Palace. 1 Like |

charlesemeka85: Other teams can belittle themselves. That means nothing to me. We have loads of players to fight and do well. We should only seek those with passion to play for us. It is meaningless if the players do not have the passion to play for us. I repeat, in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, Argentina and Brazil had far better players than us. Great talents from that later went to some of the best clubs in the world. With passion and dedication, we won that competition. Football is not only about talents. With teamwork, passion and dedication, we can move mountains. If these guys are too big, let them go. |

TheGoodJoe:imaging where you are referring to, 1996? The same reason that made many believe that since we won Brazil and Argentina then that we should beat them silly anytime we meet them Oga football done evolve so get rid of this ur 1960 mentality. The nff tapping to a practice that is common in world football today even amongst the best in the continent and world football I see nothing wrong with that The aim is to have a group of talented, exposed and tactically disciplined players that can withstand the best from the continent or the world in general Atlanta 1996 na wey u carry em matter come for 2022, imagine the gap self 5 Likes 2 Shares |
