I repeat. The door should stay open to them. However, I disagree we do not have a good system. We have a system but the current NFF have chosen to abandon it.

We should prioritize our National youth development structure. Even with a poor structure,we still raised Amoo and Samson Tijani.

Let us roll our sleeves and get to work. Have a thorough comprehensive scouting structure and a working template.

We can raise good players for the team. Coupled with thorou scouting of our local system.

Any foreign born or based player can reach out but convincing is a no no for me.
Honestly you'll make a very bad national team coach because you'll leave people that you're meant to convince to buff up our squad to pursue "talents" in Nigeria due to your emotive bias and bloated ego. You'll leave the role of a coach to start scouting indigenous players to train. Remove all FB players from our squad let's see if you can draw up a team that can beat the best teams in Africa.

You talk of loyalty does not hold water at all. Will you say that Ebuehi or Leon Balogun is not passionate about the team? Ebuehi that reportedly cried at the chance to play AFCON. Maduka tattooed Super Eagles bird on his arm and he isn't loyal? You can never know how loyal someone would be till he begins to play. So stop judging their future.

As I earlier said, you allow your bias think for you a lot.

The problem with Nigeria is that we favour quick fixes and quick successes over gradual growth and development. We love big names, we love it big, we don't have the mentality to slowly build from the scratch.

Esau is a guy that loves it already made, he loves to hunt down animals he never was a part of their development. He goes to the bush to catch them already grown up and big and then consumes them. Jacob is a guy that favours raising young animals, that at the moment has little to offer him. He patiently nurtures them to full potential. The Esau kind of people will always sell their dignity, honour and birthright to Jacob kind of men, they will always end up begging Jacob.

It is so sad to recall that we once had Eberechi Eze within our grasp, but failed to tie him with a cap because he is not yet a big name.

Ejuke and Nwakali only played matches that are without much consequence in the just concluded AFCON tourney, maybe because of the coach's ego. Ejuke looked demoralised against Guinea Bissau. But our darling coach won't mind begging people that obviously look down on the team.

What will Olise and Eberechi Eze bring to the S.E that we don't already have in Nwakali and Ejuke, is it technique or creativity? Ejuke plays in the Russian league that is not even among the top five leagues in Europe, Nwakali is languishing in Segunda division in Spain, they are not yet big names and therefore should be despised, when it is very clear what these guys can offer. We wait untill they become big names and then we beg them.

Untill we value what we have, untill we develop our youth system and grassroot football, we will continue to beg, we will continue to restlessly venture outside with our FA president and the entire coaching crew to beg a player or two to consider playing for us, we try to appeal to their emotions, we try to evoke sympathy.

Nobody is against the inclusion of FB's. They are not less Nigerian, what we are against is our
inability to groom talents through grassroot football, and begging players. The door is always open to anybody that wants to play for the team.

I appreciate your concerns about the risk of the national team being populated with mercenaries like the Kevin Prince Boateng's of this world but the brutal reality is that if we want to stay competitive we would need the foreign based contingent to seriously beef our ranks.

The foreign born players get early and quality coaching unfortunately our bright young stars don't get.

Football like someone said has gone fully scientific. Even when you discover talents local talents you still have to rely on foreign clubs to polish them something most foreign born players have already under gone.

It's good we continue to groom and encourage our young talents but not shun the talented foreign guys too. These two approaches can be adopted simultaneously. The important goal in all of this is getting the best players to rep Naija. No single approach should be followed so single mindedly that the quality of the team suffers i.e. giving chances to a local prospect who is yet to live up to expectation while ignoring a genuinely talented foreign born player who might need just a little convincing.

What is the use recruiting these players with scientific orientation if they have little to no passion for the team.

Will the scientific training give them the passion to play for us?

I did not say we do not need them. I said change the policy and keep to those who show desire to play for us. It is fruitless trying to convince them because you will just get the camp filled with players with no passion for the team.

By the way, Iheanacho was one of the best players in the EPL last year. I do not think football is too scientific for him.

That is my point. We need a policy to recruit those with passion to play for us or those mentally ready. When they are ready they will reach out to us.

Stop spreading false narratives Osimhen declared himself ready for the AFCON. It was Covid-19 that stopped him from fighting to play for us.

Lol that's very untrue. Keshi was the one who reached out to Balogun before he agreed. At his age, he readily agreed to play. Ebuehi was approached by Rohr, initially he declined but later agreed on subsequent proposal. Now you can't question his commitment. So what makes you think they can't be passionate and committed after being called up?

it is the duty of grassroots coaches to discover this players and recommend them to our youth team coaches

I hv said this before that the best players for our national youth teams are in academies and grassroots teams which hv contributed to 80% of successful players exported to Europe since the past 15 years

In past 20 years only 2 players I can remember who moved direct from the npfl to Europe and had good careers in top flight European clubs are musa and taiye Taiwo

Bros how else do you want them to show this passion by getting nailed on a cross?

Balogun has suffered countless injuries playing for SE yet he's ever committed.

Aina was crying hot tears after our loss to Tunisia.

Aribo always committed as well.

Ebuehi despite not being in the original squad for 2021 afcon didn't pull diva stunts when he was called up as a replacement.

Even the local ones how can you measure their commitment and passion? Players we have to beg and pamper to show up for a match. Ordinary bench that Dennis was sitting for Moses Simon he was giving rohr attitude. Aina and Tyrone that were ignored a lot of times in favor of shehu still showed commitment to the team.

Have a policy of them reaching out to us. Nathan Tella is a recent example. He made it known that he has a desire to play for us. We did not need to convince him. He is passionate for the team. We saw same with others like Balogun.

Have an open policy for them to reach out to us when they want to play for us.

Finito.
