We have been trying to rellocate to canada since 2018 but God did it and my husband got his studypermit approval to resume September this year. Initially our plan was that he goes alone then i and our two girls join him later, but i just had a laparoscopy surgery two weeks ago and hes very concerned and wants us all to go with him. My question is can he apply for the sowp for me and try to use this health challenge to appeal to the VO or can he apply for a visiting visa for us to tag along or I just brave-up and let him go alone. I actually told him to apply for a visit visa and when I get there i apply for sowp but we do not know how to go about the visit visa. This is a very emotional period for us, kindly advice on the best step to take.

Good afternoon guys, I’m so happy to be here. I recently got my study permit approval and I will be traveling by ending of this month. I really need your guidance on how to apply for my wife SOWP coz I intend to submit her application asap once I settle down.

So here is the situation, my wife is 11weeks pregnant now after 2 recent miscarriage and I really want her to join me immediately. What are the docs I need to submit to support her application. All her medical file like previous 2 PT test, Scan(s), series of test results before those Mc and after Mc are intact. Does our GYN/OBS need to write letter to support her application, does our hospital need to write a letter too? Do I need to increase my Proof of fund?

What is her chance of getting SOWP before her EDD?

Please I really need you guys input, so I can get all docs before I travel.

1. Please which documents are required at the airport and POE?
2. Will I need to apply for Travel exemption/authorization letter since I'm fully vaccinated?
3. Is the covid test still required 72hrs before?
4. Is quarantine plan still required even for fully vaccinated

Also, please house I need information on how to renew both study permit and work permit inside Canada.
1. Can the renewal of both Study permit and spousal work permit be done simultaneously or the study permit should be renewed first then work permit after?
2. Any info on how to go about with renewal

This is an example of the consequence of an hasty SOWP after the husband arrives in Canada. The VOs these days do go through your study permit SOP to see the commitment you put there as home tie that eventually led to the SP approval. The way we rush things may give the VOs the opportunity to doubt our bonafide as far as SP and SOWP are concerned. Another mistake people make which I have mentioned it before is that we thought SOWP is meant to keep families together. NO, capital No
SOWP is meant to help Canada with her local labour shortage. Instead of tailoring our SOWP letter of explanation (SOP) towards how we can help the Canadian community socially and economically, we focus on "I want to be with my husband/wife, my spouse will be lonely, I just got pregnancy, bla bla). All these stories don't fly unless the VO sees something in your application dossier that he/she feels will help the Canadian community. For the fact that somebody applied for SOWP before the accompanying hubby got to Canada and got approved does not mean you will be automatically approved if you do the same. You do not know the skill and experience that person got that attracted the VO.
Then back to your case, get your hubby's study permit SOP and go through it to look at how he used you as a guarantor to return back to Nigeria. Give a valid economic reason why you change your mind. Then tailor your reason for going to Canada on what you can do to help the Canadian community. If you mention that you want to assist your hubby, try to connect how the assistance you want to give your hubby will help the Canadian community. Lastly, look for a solid social or economic tie to Nigeria that can bring you back to Nigeria
Let me share what I recommend to somebody that had a similar refusal like yours that worked. Although it requires a financial sacrifice from your hubby and you.
The person has two children, after the refusal, she applied for visitor visa alone to visit her husband using the children as ties to Nigeria. She cited hubby's busy academic work in Canada as reason why the husband was unable to visit them and she was missing him. She was given the visa and travelled to Canada, spending one month and returned back to Nigeria. She then applied for the SOWP again and was approved in within one and half months.

Gurus, the issue of spose applying immediately study permit is approved has been a debate. I have learnt so much from this debate. I appreciate every one who has been part of this discussion.

I like to know, whta lenghth of time is advisable to wait before a spouse can submit an appliaction for sowp and for the kids?

I can't say how long specifically. It depends on each case, what statements the student made in LOE, and how convincing the spouse's LOE is (change of plans, etc.)

But in general, 4 to 6 months after arrival should be fine. One will have completed a semester. (This is just my personal opinion based on experience).

***Really, if one intends to bring one's family immediately after approval in the first place, the best is to apply together if one has enough funds, it simplifies the whole process (my university advises this too).

He could not have access to leave of absence from his place of work, can other documents such as study leave from my own place of work, documents of a functioning registered company which he owns and runs, extended family, and landed properties be used instead?

I only filled family information for my kids on my own application because I used their US passport. Is it still possible to apply for study permits for them and link to my application.
