Brother, you are not lying oo. I used to live in festac phase 2 (Abule ado precisely). There we have light at least 18 hours everyday even when it's raining. People in Abule ado can confirm this, house is affordable there too I stayed in a room and parlour self contained with running water and was paying 350k annually, then job took me to Island, I live at Eleko because of the proximity to my work place, I can confidently tell you that I have not seen NEPA light in the last 8 months, I'm not exaggerating!
House is a bit expensive here too because of the large number of workers in the refinery, Eleko is underdeveloped, the only place you could hang out is at Eleko beach which is nauseating because a lot of folks go their to defecate early in the morning, in fact, let me describe the beach as toilet in the morning, relaxation place at night. Food is the most expensive thing here because they assume everyone is rich. I cook at home yet i spend 7-8k weekly as a single guy on food stuffs.
I pay 200k for 2 bed room, no parlour because is the only fenced house I could see that is affordable. Note that I pay that amount because I kind of did the finishing on the house, lighting, W/C, tiles, plumbing, wiring too.
I pay that amount because it's an agreement prior to the renovation and moving in but normally it should go for 300k. To be frank, I can't wait to leave this place for my beloved Abule ado
but ELEKO isn't island naa

Expensive isn't the word. It sounds stupid. Why? An adult needs like 4 noodles to be okay. Immediately I asked for 3 noodles and 3 eggs, it shut up to 1200. She could have told me she was selling something else..

@ OP...I left mainland for Ajah, since someone said Ajah is not island. Fact is when I came, mainland was wack because of bad road. No sooner did I move than they started road expansion around Ajah-VGC axis. The balance presently favours the mainland but I am certain that once they are done with the roads around Ajah, we will be fine. One reason I am grateful is that during Endsars life was a lot more safer and secure here on the island than the mainland, however, to each his own. I can tell you for free that on the mainland, Gbagada, Ogudu and Oworo are most central as you can access Ikeja and elsewhere easily. All these talks about surulere and ikeja don't quite cut it for me, too crowded and noisy. In all, Lagos na wash.

I agree with your last statement, lagos really is wash.

Ajah has underwhelmed me hence my decision to move away from here, there really isn't anything here and the cost of living is expensive.

It's 400 on the mainland. Now, it goes to buttress the reason i left the island and why many youths should leave. Lives arent been built up maximally and many don't know it.

By the time one spends an average of 2-4 hours in hold up daily, it means one has lost 2 days every week

By the time one spends an average of 300 naira excess per service/activity, mutiple it in a month by ilke 30 times, mathematically what should serve as disposable income is soaked up as expenses, in the aftermath many youths can't save or have good savings.

I told someone today, most youths there can't save 60,000 monthly. How then will they be able to marry even in 5 years time? A good environment must tolerate all of these when viewed holistically. The best decision of my life was leaving the island

Bros. Low Key. You're a Foodie... lol.
Nice one

DoctorOlasDesk:

I left island for Berger. I'm enjoying it

The light is stable

My monthly salary can pay my house rent like ten times. Unlike Ajah where six months salary will be used in financing house rent where one would be contributing to the ladnlord's development at the expense of one's personal growth and development.

In Ajah/Lekki axis, the annual rent feee is many people's 6-12 months slary, so they can't save. It's hand to mouth always. So instead of stay 2M per annum, i'm on a low-key on the mainland at 200k per annum setting up multiple businesses every month, next year, cash out big time.

Food is super. I buy six raps of semo and eight meats for 1200 Naira. You can't buy this at Ajah at this price. I always add yoghurt/Milk/Malt to make it 2k per meal. Bro, i'm living the yankee life in Berger..

Yes, and i change my soup daily. I can change up to as much as six different soups. More so, i'm known. Some time i could be in a hurry maybe i'm headed somewhere, without cash, i can take up to 2k food..

I have piexpress for my mid day snacks

When i want to change dollar, i dash into the bank call my aobki, less than 45 -60 minutes i;m done

Men, i'm in NewYork City in Berger

No issues at all

You need to see how im watchful about food combination, calorie and nutritional intake. How i blend meats/yoghurt/milk to provide additional nutrients. I'm going on GNLD health supplements soon to provide extra needed food nutrients.

I'm the ultimate foodie.. Btw, I'm a medical research scientist so my health is closely linked with my nutritional intake to me

My brother the crux is that the whole lagos has now been destroyed by tinubu endemic looting. Island was supposed to be an island but today its a bigger slum than mainland. I once stayed in ajah in 2016 in that estate opposit penninsula estate close to abraham adesanya.
i was working at the now defunct diamond bank on that street. Now if jonathan was able to hold on to power in 15 things would have improved but the great thief connive with northerners to destroy the country. Next i lived at opebi area close to allen ikeja and that place was ok with electricity but no job and nothing.
if you can you can go find a place in opebi its just like island too .

OP, if you are considering moving to the mainland, try these places - Magodo/Berger, Ogudu GRA, Ikeja, Surulere (specifically Shitta/Akerele/Bode-Thomas/Adeniran Ogunsanya), Costain or Gbagada.

I stay on the Island too, but I think it's just a place filled with overpriced houses with no matching amenities.

That holdup at Ajah ehn. Anywhere wey carry me pass Chevron, I'm not going. Just that the rent and other amenities is killing. If I am to leave the island, I won't go past Surulere. The life there too can be compared a little to the Island.

Move to Surulere. Surulere is very central and easily accessible. Down to the island from Surulere is less than an hour long journey.

Surulere to orile to festac and to Badagry is very accessible. Surulere to Oshodi too is within reach. Surulere is your best bet.

Surulere is like the center of Lagos to me, every where is accessible from there.

Ikorodu, badagry, Island, all the angles in Lagos.

Traditionally she should have gotten apartment around that Orchid estate eleganza/axis. I just can't understand how people live with that holdup on a daily. I don't understand how Nigerians manage it..She needs to relocate closer to her work. Jakande/Igbo Efon/Ikate Elegushi/Agungi would have been better

Everyone can't concentrate on the mainland.

Some people genuinely do not like it there...

Others have their source of livelihood hence their decision to reside close by.
