Mainland sef get levels.
Ikeja is in LM.
Surulere is in LM.
Yaba is in LM.
Magodo is in LM.
Go and ask of house rent in these places and you'll understand.
They cannot be compared to places in Sangotedo towards Awoyaya to Lakowe, Bogije, Onosa, Ibeju which are still on the Island.
Rent depends on a lot of factors.
You just need to look for what suites you.
Type and age of building, condition of roads, proximity to certain facilities and neighborhoods are all factors that determine rent in Lagos.
I currently pay 580,000 naira annually for a 2-BR apartment somewhere on the island.
I have a friend who's paying 1.3 million naira for the same house configuration, also on the Island.
And it takes under 15 minutes to drive from my place to his.
I seriously doubt if one can a good 2-BR apartment for 580k in Ikeja.
That's Lagos for you.

Which part of the island do you stay? 580k for a 2-bedroom apartment? Unbelievable.

Everyone can't concentrate on the mainland.

Some people genuinely do not like it there...

Others have their source of livelihood hence their decision to reside close by.

My dear mainland sucks. I dont like it here either. But then, can we cope with the island stress and hold up too ?

The sanity level reduces on the island.

Coming out of Ikeja to go to the island if you are working there is not that smooth. Gbagada is better.

Traditionally she should have gotten apartment around that Orchid estate eleganza/axis. I just can't understand how people live with that holdup on a daily. I don't understand how Nigerians manage it..She needs to relocate closer to her work. Jakande/Igbo Efon/Ikate Elegushi/Agungi would have been better

A room self in Agungi is about 500k (serviced apartment) excluding the agency and agreement fees. She pays lesser at LBS. Not to even talk of Ikate where you'll be paying millions.

Now don't laugh this off. This is a rather serious comparison as it's my first time in Lagos and as such my first time on the Island.

According to the topic, I will like readers especially those who reside in Lagos to share their opinions as to which of these major residential areas in Lagos is actually more value for money.

I've lived in the Ajah axis of Lagos Island for about 7 months and I can confidently tell you that I will not advise any newcomer to pay rent to live here. Electricity is bad, water is terrible, roads are bad too and for those who commute the Lekki-Epe express road daily know how hellish it can be when there is a surge in traffic.

Tbh, most people living on the island are suffering and smiling, even those who you think are well to do are having it worse.

I'm considering moving away from the Island and finding a serene environment on the mainland to live in. I heard that Magodo/Berger area is true, please how true is this? I will like readers who reside in Lagos to share their thoughts on other serene environments one can live in where one can get good basic amenities. This will definitely help other people as well. Thanks.

This comparison always comes up. One babe was staying on the mainland but always longed to live on the island.

She eventually moved to lekki. Now she wants to go back to the mainland and is looking for a place. She said the life there is fake. People are just packaging. A guy will wind up his car windows but has no AC cheesy.

Bad water, traffic, fake people, etc.

This is true depending on where you reside on the mainland, I live in the Berger area and power is at least 18 hours, I use prepaid as well, good road, water, cheaper rent, etc. the only but is traffic when coming to Island if you don’t leave the house early, I have friends who leave house 5 am and a couple of them leave 6 am.

Alternative locations on the mainland that are close to the island include the following.

- Gbagada
- oworo
- Yaba
- costain
- ketu

You can get a decent apartment in a Serene environment in any of these areas, especially the 1st and the last. wink

Ketu? Lol Firstly Ketu isn't close to the island and it's not serene. Did you mean Maryland or maybe Ojota?

Total package, a room self Osapa London/Agungi is always 750-800k

The environment on the island is different from the mainland which is why i'm coming back.

We all need to regain perspectives. When our parents generations where at our age. The first factor they considered was affordability so funds could be channeled to building finances and their lives. When we choose very expensive places and start with that, we starve ourselves off disposable income which could have been channeled to building our lives at the expense of comfort and luxury.

Let me gist you what i did when i left the island

My business is in the cloud which means i can pack up and relocate anytime. I structured my business this way so my life doesn't stop whenever i need to move. So guess what, i relocated to Mowe. Guess what i enjoyed?

20 hours light

Road access perfect

2 Bedroom, wardrobe and all i didnt spend more than 300k total package per annum for a house thats worth almost 750k per annum on the island. Within that one year, i built up, climbed the ladder faster than i did on the island in 5 years. With finances built, i re-routed to berger and grew 5 times more than I was at Mowe cause i had saved more disposable cash. 3 years now, mmy blueprint shows the success rate i would never had achieved on the island in ten years within just 3 years. Now im returning. SO if you see the projectile curve i took, it was channeled to self development. Island is making lives stunted. People remaining on the same financial level for years

Everything I do is strategy.

My monthly income is atleast seven digits, So why is 2k per meal too much ?
I have preference for such employment.
I would like to be informed of the details.
I would leave my email for ease of communication; bryan4kenneth@gmail.com

Do not mention Ajah, Ibeju Lekki in the same sentence with Magodo or Berger.

Magodo is 3 times more expensive than Ajah and Ibeju Lekki.

Move to serene part of Ikorodu for your peace of mind. Serious value for money. Dry land too. With canoe, you will be in Ajah in 30 minutes.

Ikeja is my all time favorite hood in Lagos, though.

Technically cause it takes me just 30 minutes to get to Mowe from Berger. I take a bike. But dont confuse me. I had apartments in Mowe and Berge and Ajah at he same time so i'm always moving. If i feel dull in one city, I move to the other

when it comes to high quality of living, distance is rarely never a factor for making a choice; especially when taken the bad indices of Lagos in relation to global livability standards.

globetrotting within a particular region in Nigeria with a uniform culture is a little bit farfetched.
I guess touring would be likely appropriate for such situation.
well, Nigeria seems like a country with very few developed places.
Some places that meet the global benchmark for cities are fewer than five.
most regions like North East, and its adjacent places are very wanting in that area.

That is a good reason.
But you have to consider better reasons like light, security, the cost of living, and serene and less toxic environment (fake life, and high risk of catching affluenza).
