honestly Russians arent really in fighting mood ATM. And it would likely remain that way until or unless any external forces challenges russia militarily. Or interfere in their internal affairs. I can imagine that this is why the US haven't DARED trying to overthrow putin. Whenever any country gets on the nerve on the USA, what they do is first is try to overthrow their president, replacing him with a friendly one. They've don it many countries. They've even tried it with Erdogan, the president of Turkey. I was surprised that they've never contemplated trying such nonsense with Putin and this article totally explains wht. According to the CIA, the Kremlin is the most coded place in the world. Putin has even started clearing off some elements that he doesn't trust fully. The moment he notices that the USA are trying anything, he would be sure to leak it to the Russians who wouldn't have any of it. So the hands of the US are tied right now. The more they decide to interfer in Russia's affairs, the more the Russian people would become anti-west which I'm sure they wouldn't want.

This is very funny. Yeltin, the man who was the president of Russia before putin, was a certified western ass licker. The man did as he was told to do by the USA as they constantly humiliated Russia. Note that while this man was ass licking the ass of the USA, he was still criticizing their move to expand NATO towards Russia despite the reason why NATO was crated, the USSR was no more. When putin took over, he was fairly pro west as well. His attempt to join NATO was thwarted. NATO needed an enemy and if russia joined, pretty much NATO would become a useless bloc.

Which is why Putin asked in Germany, 2007.
"Are we still your enemies that you keep on expanding your alliance towards us?"

It is obvious that after the dissolution of the USSR, Russia legit wanted to form ties with the USA and the west. But USA felt like they won the Cold war hence they can treat their former rivals which was now a shadow of his former self, however they like. They became the proud fućks that they've been known to be.

Meanwhile, If USA can manage to overthrow putin and replace him with a pro western president like they did with Ukraine, believe me they will treat Russia with more respect than they have since the fall of the USSR. But the thing is, it is too late.
Lavrov, 2 days ago said "the illusions of Russia forming ties with the West is all but over now".
Meaning, instead of trying to create ties with the West they will instead with China and others in Asia and South America and even Africa. Russia has been of late increasing their presence in Africa. I don't know if it is just me that notices it
leave this your epistle of blame and focus on the real issue on ground. Queen Catherine annexed Crimea in the past and Puttin is towing the same path now which is not something new to the Russians and also to the Ukrainians which is the recipient of this their madness. Russia's led USSR invaded Afghanistan back in 1978 and installed their preferred president, and they were strongly repelled by America and the rest of the world which is one of the major catalyst that led to the collapsed of the Soviet Union. So it is not lost on so many of us that at the end,Russia will still fail on this ground. however, you blaming the west is what I find more annoying, and the sole reason is because of your hate for the USA not because of your love for Russia.....

That is what the bbc article is trying to sell but we know better. America is not humble in this case because it has learnt the art of humility. The doctrine of MAD has simply made it humble. It has weighed the human and civilization cost of intervention and cowed down. If it were a country say in the caliber of Serbia, they would waste no time to intervene militarily.

No country, quote me again, no country will interfere in a potential world war with almost certain use of nuclear weapons. Such country must be heading on a suicide mission.

It’s not like they are powerless but they know this can easily lead to nuclear war world war 3 mutiple millions will die.

If we play out the scenario NATO vs Russia. NATO wins but at what cost.

Just imagine the level of destruction.

We are talking nuclear war Hiroshima and Nagasaki was atomic bomb which is of lesser strength compared to nuclear
Story!! DO they actually need to make announcement before entering the war. They are sending there best weapons(except nuclear warheads)and getting there ass whopped. If they officially join the war and loose like they lost against talibans. It will be the ultimate disgrace to them. America has joined the war in Ukraine, under the guise of volunteer fighters and humanitarian support(which is basically budgeting huge sums of money for millitary hardware) , and they are loosing.
For idiots that usually like to argue blindly

Ukraine has also been courting the west for investment and they also want more military power.

This is international chess on play. The west want to weaken Russia because he is a thug with weapons .
A thug with weapons defending herself against Western bullies who invade smaller countries for economic reasons. Russian has the right to defend herself and stop NATO trying to circle her borders.

Usa has no reason to fear putin.... Whatever the outcome Usa will survive but u see the other countries of the world that will suffer it is much more than the gain of USA... How stupid it is that Nigerians who their mothers never saw war, who read about weapons and rejoice in glee at the names, are taking sides in an unfortunate conflict. No nation should be supported to invade another nation. Be it America or Russia. Now the Russians are doing just that they must be criticized and vilified. This is not a case of western propaganda, this is a case of world survival. Alot of you are so daft that you haven't been able to research and learn what a full blown war between nuclear powers will mean for you. Russia's strenghts is in the nukes that they possess and may want to use it uncontrollably.

Otherwise their military skill and technic and their weaponry can't March that of USA at all.

Without nukes I don't see them winning ordinary Ukraine. They also struggling economically.

Says who?
You sit behind your keyboard and type opinions from your ...
Why do you think a country is referred to as a world power?
You thinks it's because of jets and rocket launchers? Do you know what a nuclear weapon is?
Every country in the world has always struggled economically.
We all know the USA mounts the largest military budget in the world, no one contests that but in an event of a nuke war ( which the USA will never allow happen. They love their high rise buildings too much) Russia will do as much damage as the USA. There will be no winners because the damages will be incomparable

1. America is not losing any damn shit in the ongoing war in Ukraine rather Russia's economy is being squeezed to the barest.
2. The war in Ukraine is a pure trap for putin as it stands now just like they where trapped in Afghanistan.
3. Rather Europe is feeling the heat for their hypocrisy.
4. America,EU,Ukraine and Russia are pure evil but always go for the lesser devil with a long fork.

Just like Putin said after the fall of the USSR, Russia lost confidence and that changed the balance of power. It is the reason he called it the greatest geopolitical catastrophe of 21st century. Russia became powerless and the reason they could control the person before Putin. The great Putin has brought back that lost glory and restore the pride of the Russia nation. There is no move they will make that Russia won't know, so overthrowing a russian president either militarily or otherwise is beyond them unless they want a nuclear war.

Just like you said Putin genuinely wanted to be friends with them but to the Yankees a friendship with Russia means no more wars. Or how else do you expect them to sell wars to the American people without enemy. An imaginary enemy must be created to fight a war.

Russia is stronger today all thanks to Putin and the cowards will never even attempt to attack them first because they know what she is capable of doing.

God bless President Putin we love of for bringing balance of power to the world.

An African alliance without any of these countries; Nigeria (due to our population), south Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya won't be highly effective.

I'm Igbo and highly sentimental with biafra, but if honestly Nigeria can harness its full potential in science and technology while carrying everybody along, we will certainly rub shoulders with other world powers, and nobody will want to leave this country. China and Russia are trying to disrupt the world order in order to influence change in power shift in the last few months.

China started with introducing covid 19 and now Russia trying to unnecessarily fight Ukraine.

This Ukraine war is a bait. Russia and China are waiting for America to dive in so that they can nuke.

America has far more to loose. They have more resources and technology than Russia but in a war. . Things will go. That's why they are trying to avoid casualties.

Russia is relatively poor and can afford to loose anything in this case. Get it.

It will take Russia many years to recover from this war already due to sanctions.

Beyond diplomacy, there is a new recognition here of Washington's military limits, a realisation that force won't get America everything it wants, however strong its army. That's an unusual position for the world's biggest military.

America is simply trying to rebuild her image, using this Russia-Ukraine crisis

Meanwhile I thought they said Russia or China was world’s biggest military, how come the opposite is being admitted here

America knows it could impose, and most probably enforce, a no-fly zone. It has the jets and missiles and pilots to do so. But, as the White House says repeatedly, mobilising the might of the Pentagon won't necessarily end this war, it might make it worse. The more America leads, the greater the risk that Putin can sell this to his own people as a fight between Russia and the US.

This is a clear case of to whom much is given, much is expected. Much sense and maturity is expected too, just as the US is exhibiting here. Which makes me wonder if it was Russia who was in their shoes what would do they have done? Maybe Putin would stupidly dabbled into the war thereby leading to a WW3 and severe loss of lives globally

Military generals can be replaced within minutes but destruction of lives and properties will take generations for it to be reconstructed. The truth is Ukraine are losing take it or leave it. US and NATO is on the sideline monitoring the advance weapon that Russia will use so as to improve there's, canada is taping on human resources in the name of helping with refugees all this will increase there human resources . Take a look at southeast after they lose to the FG no meaningful development again in that region. They have turned to begger for FG to do any meaningful project in that region.

Am not saying that war is good or that Russia are right but in the long run Ukraine will pay for every military equipment that the west gave to them and no nation will help them rebuild there nation. If u understand international politics well you will know that there is no free lunch.
