You see, the whole “Ironsi abolished regionalism, which led to the collapse of Nigeria” is nothing but hypocrisy and a ruse to hide the general incompetence of Nigeria’s politicians since the 70s

Well if people don’t come out and vote, then they have given their power to chose their leader into the hand of someone else who might not vote for who they want to.

Voters education is important. If vote doesn’t count, politicians won’t be trying to buy votes during election.

The truth is that no one person will wave a magic wand and everything will fall into place immediately but things can change if we elect reasonable people across board continuously. We can begin to see changes. Government is continuum, we must have a plan on the kind of leaders we want, what we expect from them and hold them accountable.

Votes do count and in 2023, we will have chance to elect those that will pilot the affairs of the country for another 4 years. Both for states and FG.

Starting from House of assembly members, house of reps, senators, governors and President, we must be intentional about who we vote for.

I want to come direct at you now.....in your church mind,do you think Tinubu is capable of ruling Nigeria health-wise,mental and ability wise with the rot we are in now....Baba,talk true....even that atiku that has been contesting elections since when I was not born sef....

I watched your party convention,na so so consensus and hand-picking candidates from godfathers...Then we vote person like OLUSOLA DESMOND ELLIOT(ODE) who we think he is one of the "good guys"and he is commissioning toilet and pako bridge, wtf!!!! Do you think I will still be motivated to queue, putting my life at risk to vote again ....on a norms,na person like Desmond suppose dey do that kain thing

Just to prove to Tinubu and oshomOLE that Edo no be Lagos,my people came out en-masse,defended their vote for that ugly baffoon called obaseki, the guy has been a failure ever since and not paying back the sacrifice people made....

Pls who are the reasonable people,if not the endless people who have been in power like forever, their aides, consensus candidates and godchildren who are willing to do their bidding...the bad system created by the leaders has swallowed the good guys who have vision for nigeria

Nowhere in my post did I say Ironsi abolishing regionalism was what led to the collapse of Nigeria. You do not need to infer what is not there.

The context of that discussion was about how Ahmadu Bello was the one practicing tribalism and I pointed out that we were running a regional government then with which premier or leader of the region running a policy of “Our region” first.

Whether we will have progressed more than this if we are still running a regional system of government can only be based on assumptions and we will never know because Aguiyi Ironsi abolished the region and instituted a Unitary system of government.

1. Do I believe Tinubu will make a good President? Yes

2. Why? Because personally I feel a President needs to surround himself with competent people who can translate his vision into solid framework and implement it for the better for all. This I believe is Tinubu biggest strength, he’s a finder and builder of competent hands to put in position of authority. One of the major issue I have with Buhari is his lackadaisical attitude towards his appointees (Ministers and the likes).

3. Consensus is a valid means of electing leaders in internal party politics, even the electoral act make this very clear. But me personally I am against Consensus because I believe everyone should be allowed to test their popularity and canvass for the vote of fellow party members but the Governors in their usual ways hijacked everything to themselves. I know how much I stayed it during ward meetings that consensus will never bring the best among us to stand for election but those favored by the Governors/Elders of the parties who hold the structure.

4. I always believe everyone should be able to make their political choice and live with it. It makes no sense to spite your nose because of your mouth. Will Ize-iyamu be a better Governor than Obaseki? No one knows, most times we only use power of hindsight to judge which no one has when they are making these decisions.

5. If you want to change the system, you have to get into it and change it from within. You cannot change the system from outside. If you join a political party today, you will find that there are a lot of people who share your vision for a better country who just haven’t been able to get into leadership position, that’s why we must leverage our youth population to push the best of us into these positions and see if things will change.

I am a firm believer that Nigeria is still salvageable, it’s just going to require so much work with everyone putting their hands on deck to do.

Is it possible? Yes.

Will it happen? No one knows.

Till today we are still having debates about State Policing. I am a big advocate for State policing.

I think I had a conversation about this subject matter with ibime during the EndSars protest and he was adamantly against state police.

Every policy will come with its cons and pros and it must be considered very well before implemented.

ibi.me made mention of something then, can you trust these current crop of Governors with the absolute power of police? Knowing that these same Governors are owing salaries of their work force, what do you think will happen when they now added the police to their payroll?

Where will state police funding comes from?

Stop pontificating on what you don’t know about. The least you can do is to do small research before typing.

1. The stadium was renovated by DANGOTE. Sunday Dare the minister for sport was going around talking to corporate bodies to come renovate our sporting facilities. Dangote chose to renovate the MKO Abuja Stadium.

2. The match was supposed to hold in Lagos before CAF/FIFA refused saying that they can’t use VAR in Lagos stadium before the match was moved to the recently renovated stadium in Abuja and it was certified by both CAF/FIFA for the match to hold there.

I think u APC/BMC people have been specially trained to throw a few words here and there, make some submissions that look reasonable on the surface but when examined critically falls on its face.

1. I was asking why Nigeria has a 60,000 capacity stadium and it's not put In good shape which is a legitimate question to ask seeing the state of the pitch is one of the factors the players couldn't be at their best. Ask urself why did the pitch go bad in the first place? Is it not due to lack of proper maintenance?

You are busy telling me super story of how the minister for sports was shamelessly going about begging corporate entities to help put a face lit to government owned sporting facilities.smh

So it's pontification I'm asking the right question in the face of clear mismanagement?

2. So because FIFA approved a stadium due to the facilities there, our football administrators should not be reasonable enough to enusre the grass are levelled enough to aid the ball moving well on the pitch? Is it FIFA that will help them mow the grass to an equally even level after the grass was laid? Like we didn't watch Senegal vs Egypt and saw how the ball was moving smoothly on the pitch right?

I know u APC supporters would rather die than agree things are not being well managed in this country during this Buhari Era, but some us cannot help ourselves but say things how we see them.

Like I said before, stop pontificating on what you know nothing about. There’s no crime in actually sitting down and learning if you don’t know you are talking about.

You are asking why we have a stadium of 60k capacity and it’s not put to good shape which in itself is a lie because the stadium was renovated way before the World Cup qualifier was announced in January this year. It therefore makes no sense to type that they left it so late to renovate the stadium when information about how the stadium was renovated is in public domain.

This was your post I quoted:

I think Nigeria is cursed ! How do we have a 60,000 capacity stadium and we don’t take care of it ?

This fixture has been announced since God knows when , instead make dem renovate since and put everything in order dem wait till dying minutes. I believe some bureaucratic bottlenecks would’ve led to this fire brigade approach ; now see where it has landed us .

My response to your post was very clear.

Now you can go back to screaming about how the country is cursed.

Good morning

Typical APC/BMC zombie shii on display right here with a sprinkle of "On this Hill I will die " attitude.

The question is why do we have a 60,000 capacity stadium that the pitch keeps bubbling the ball here and there with players having to guess which side the ball will bounce to before kicking the ball?

You are here giving shalaye of January renovation..... A renovation that left the pitch in that sorry state....smh.

I hope u get paid well enough for these efforts tho.

The point is that it’s their region, he has the right to hire anyone they want just the same way the West and East has the right to hire anyone they like.

The interview was very clear. He was pursuing a Northernization policy for the Northern Region where all key post in the region are held by Northerners. He says if they can’t find a northerner to fill the post, they will hire white expatriate or other Nigerians on contract basis. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that policy since the remaining regions were also running a “Our region” policy.

None of anything you've said here makes sense or matches up to history.

If you listen to the man himself speak, there were only 10 northern civil servants in the North when he joined. With Igbo people taking the other roles on merit. So which retaliatory action was he taking? Amadu Bello himself was so concerned about how poorly qualified his people where that the man was actually campaigning and working against independence at the time

Secondly, The Federal Government predates independence by at least 6 years. Amadu Bello also made sure that federal government jobs in the North only went to Northerners. He's the one that brought Shari'a law to Nigerian constitution. He literally had such little interest in running a federated nation that despite being the head of the NPC in 1960, the biggest party in parliament at the time, he sent his number 2, Tafawa Balewa to be Prime Minister, whilst he remained the Premier of the Northern region.

So please don't tell me other regions were doing the same, when it's clear that Northerners weren't even equipped to compete in their own region.

La.rride said Dangote renovated the stadium in Lagos but due to issues surrounding the installation of VAR the match was moved to the National Stadium Abuja which was recently renovated. Whatever is the complain, I think CAF/FIFA inspected that pitch and gave the greenlight for the match to go on...

If the governing body of football thinks the pitch was okay irrespective of our individual takes then we have to question them...

I'm sorry this is an incredibly lazy take.

Wetin concern FIFA or CAF with that length of grass on the pitch.

It was only a couple of weeks ago that Pep Guardiola was complaining about the grass at Crystal Palace which had been deliberately left a bit longer to impede City's passing game.

Nigerians questioning the grass at the Abuja stadium in a must win game, are not questioning the infrastructural integrity of the stadium - They are questioning the competency of an entire system that can't even take basic measures to boost their team's chances....basic measures like cutting the fucking grass

Pep and Man City were away while we were at home.

If Palace decided to employ such crude tactics to disturb the smooth passing play of City then that's allowed but we on the other hand were at home, Eguavoen and the players have trained on that pitch and knew the condition before hand so, if they had a problem with the length of the grass, it would have be addressed...

Na here be the crux of the matter.

Maybe they thought they might sneak in a goal then it'll be difficult for Ghana to peg one back due to the nature of the pitch, but god of soccer get other ideas grin

But if that's true, then Eguavoen is a very very stupid coach. He didn't even have an away goal to secure things in case something unexpectedly happens(like Ghana scoring first) but he knew Nigeria's strength is always ground balls and most of our players are European-based.

Foolish coach!!!
