The Nigerian government has said it will no longer be able to revitalise the Ajaokuta Steel Company in 2022 as it earlier pledged, citing the impact of COVID-19 and the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/business/business-news/521193-buhari-govt-unlikely-to-fix-ajaokuta-steel-as-planned-minister.html 1 Share

The first blunder was to have engaged Russia out of all countries of the world to build Ajaokuta Steel Complex project. From 1979 to 2023, the company hasn't produced a sheet of metal. Now, the baton has been passed to next government. And worst of all, the official position of Nigeria on Russia-Ukraine war is that Russia should pull out. It is possible President Putin has used the copy of the agreement he signed with Buhari to smoke weed. 11 Likes |

Na una Sabi. What about NNPC? Rubbish! APC were rushing to complete roads and bridges started by previous administration because they are low hanging fruits. Rushing to complete and commission rail lines without commensurate security gadgets so as to use it for campaigns to perpetrate themselves in power. Hiss! 9 Likes 1 Share |

festacman:They gave the contract to Russia because Russia supplied Nigeria a lot of weapons and technical assistance during the Nigerian Biafra civil war, the result was that more than 3million ethnic Igbos were brutally killed by the Nigerian government. |

The amount of money spent on this project is alarming. From Babangida era to these days and they keep putting money in a trashed hole. Lord have mercy. The amount alone can be used to build a bridge from Nigeria to UK Front page from back to back. Show me love with some likes. It will surely make my day. 10 Likes 1 Share |

nor be today Buhari nor they fulfil his promise. he use these shit for campaign. tinubu and others will still use it to campaign. na the strategy. one dollar equals 1 naira u didnt fulfill we nor talk, school children feeding you didnt fulfil we nor talk, etc so this is not new. we know you can't do anything. if you were 23 yrs when buhari entered, you will be 30yrs when he leave. if you vote another failure, you will be 38 yrs when that one leaves, so think about the future of your children as you campaign, support and vote. those that collected rice to vote buhari didn't collect it for 8yrs. those that collected 5k to vote Buhari didn't collect it for 8yrs neither does the 5k solves their problem. Think wisely, vote wisely 4 Likes |

Nigeria voted in the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA ) against Russian government occupation of Ukraine in the on going war between Russia and Ukraine. It was quite sensible for the federal government to take a neutral position or just abstain from voting but the federal government under President Muhammadu Buhari foolishly voted against Russia our business partner in the rehabilitation of the moribund Ajaokuta steel. Now Russia will want to single out Nigeria as parts of those unfriendly countries. Neutrality was best for Nigeria government to adopt but the federal government out of ignorance and illadvice missed the neutral position. NIGERIA IS EVEN AN ASTUTE MEMBER OF THE NON ALIGNED COUNTRIES ALONG SIDE INDIA. Today as I am speaking India is buy cheap crude from Russia in defiance of the west that imposed economic sanctions on Russia. 3 Likes |

APC campaign promises in the next coming election on Why they failed to meet up to the expectations of the masses was because the effect from Covid-19, ENDSARS and the war between Russia and Ukraine was what slowed down their performance.

Arrant nonsense!!! They keep feeding us bull crap and we just lap it up and some who have sold their birthright for a morsel will even hail them. But then I don’t blame the government. Push Nigerians to the wall, instead of fighting back, they will rather face the wall and pray for it to move and give them more space. My advice for anyone reading this, for your own sanity, just give up on this country and don’t expect anything good from these politicians. If not you will just die from frustration. Peace. 1 Like |

festacman: The West refuse to support Nigeria's steel ambition in the 1970s, they claimed that Nigerians were not technologically and operationally advance to manage a steel industry, with the way events have transpired they are probably right. (I recall reading this in Newswatch magazine in the 1980s ). One of Russia's concerns was locating the steel complex in Ajaokuta, although it was close to the raw materials in Itakpe iron mines, the Russian preference was to locate the Steel plant closer to the ports and industries in the South to reduce logistics and Electricity cost. Locating Delta Steel Plant in the South hasn't bought any benefit to Nigeria, so it is obvious that corruption and backwardness are the two main reasons why the steel industry has failed to produce in Nigeria. Nigeria can't even extract and refine its own oil despite 62 years of exploitation, the fact that Buhari is the Minister of Petroleum and has failed to repair or build a single refinery is evidence of Nigeria's precarious industrial situation. Nigeria should focus on the light manufacturing industry such as agro-processing, textile and pharmaceutical these industries have few moving parts and are still electro-mechanical. Nigerians should be protesting the fuel shortage , corruption and insecurity rather than missing the 2022 FIFA world cup in Qatar. 3 Likes |
