jimbson:Hello, was there no start date on your admission letter earlier? If there was, has it passed before you attempted to resume? Again, what school is this? If the negligence is from their part, you need to be firm in your communication with them (perhaps the school’s international office. Express your dissatisfaction with how the whole thing turned out - if it is their fault like I said earlier). Tell the school to give you a support letter to the Minister of Justice and Equality who overseas immigration. In the letter, they should own up to their dereliction of duty. In the same vein, you should do your own letter praying the minister to grant you permission to stay in the country (with the terms of being able to work and support yourself within the period) pending the resumption of the purported September start. You should attach the school’s letter to the one you will write yourself when you are posting it to the minister. Further, your case should be based on the fact that you have resigned/liquidated your means of sustenance before coming to Ireland and that you don’t have what to return to within the time to September. In addition, you can say you didn’t plan for the extra cost the move back home would cost you. This whole process might take time, so you need to be very proactive. If your prayer is granted, you should have the right to work full time pending the start of classes in September. I hope this helps. Cheers. 1 Like |

shonaspark: Go to your bank and request to pay school fees with a Form A. Your bank will sort it out for you at a more favorable rate |
Re: GENERAL Irish (student)visa & Work Permit-New THREAD*** by ICaSNg(f): 6:09pm On Apr 04, 2022 |
shonaspark: Payment is made through CBN Trade monitoring system, its after the confirmation is received in your email before your bank can complete the payment. Also request from the finance team a payment invoice stating your tuition fee and university's account details you will need to upload that on the CBN trade portal. UL finance / tuition dept email <student.fees.office@ul.ie> |

Can a 8 months gap in education between high school and university lead to visa denial. Gap would have been 3 months originally if not for ASUU strike. Please I need opinion on this |
Re: GENERAL Irish (student)visa & Work Permit-New THREAD*** by ICaSNg(f): 3:16am On Apr 05, 2022 |
tall2ce: Explain gap with proof . E.g : Newspaper publication or a Reference letter for a voluntary job role or a training you had during the period. |

ICaSNg: Is newspaper proof of the ASUU strike good enough or a newspaper website link to the strike in that year? |

4 months or more. I had to go to Nigeria on expired passport and renewed mine there |

It's 3 in my experience. I'd say you're better off renewing in Ireland if you are not going away. Moreso, you can always ask for fast track with a cogent reason, eg, Visa needed for work travel, etc |

Kaylifestyle: The closer you are to Dublin or Cork the better for you. Unless you plan to school or play Rugby or GAA, i wouldn't know why you went to Kerry as a newbie. |

Re: GENERAL Irish (student)visa & Work Permit-New THREAD*** by Dwebb55: 9:25pm On Apr 11, 2022 |
Kaylifestyle: It can be kind of tough adjusting to the rural/country life but your best bet would be Dublin, Cork, Galway, Waterford and Limerick. Bigger towns but the bigger it is, the more expensive it gets. Rent in Dublin is crazy. It also depends on your work. If you work from home, then you can go to any city and be fine then. My preference would be Galway or Waterford which are a bit big but still have that rural charm and you can get a good place that won't break the bank. |

Chukdobz20: If you have an EU passport then you should be able to simply apply for any jobs on the popular websites like indeed. |
