The twitter will one way or the other pay tax to Nigeria, new income generation. As for border closure, you have no idea about how our local products owner have increased their production as we are being limited to local products which generate more income to grow our local products 2 Likes |

Border closure: created the protectionist environment that helped the establishment of many large, medium and small scale rice mills. Unbelievable number in the last two years. The figures I have from Chinese and Indian rice machine manufacturers about sales to Nigeria is like wow. Nigeria can now compete better in the global rice community. We hope smugglers have been taking out of business, if not the borders would be closed after elections. People should not be smuggling rice. Twitter: Proper registration in Nigeria, corporate and other offices known. They will subject themselves to Nigerian laws and regulatory imperatives. They will pay taxes. They will ensure their algorithms are fair to all social groupings, individuals and governments. They won't be used to forment social disorder |

We told them it's won't work here on nairaland ...rice was the main reason to close border has it worked ? ...this is the problem when u put incompetent people in power The questions any serious government should ask is 1) why do Nigerians buy foreign rice ... because it's cheaper and have better quality 2) why are foreign rice farmed 10s of thousands of miles with more expensive labor and transported here still cheaper than our own rice farmed with cheaper labor ....this right here is the key The answer ? Seedlings and infrastructure While it cost you around 250k to farm an hectare in Nigeria , the best results you can get is 2 tons ..and most times u can farm once and get 1 ton that means a bag is 12,500 cost of farming alone ... The farmer sales at 15,000 and the Millers buy , transport ,process bag and sale for 21,000 while u get it anywhere between 25k to 30k In Thailand farmers get minimum of 10 tons and farm twice a year minimum because of effectively developed rice field with irrigation systems where farmers can rent per year Say with improve seedlings you spend 350k to farm one hectare and you get 10 tons this takes your farm get price of rice to 1,750 ( yes from 12500 that's the miracle of a good seed ) so even you say at 3500 that's 100% profit ,milliers would mill and sell for 6500 to 8000 ... sellers buy and sale for 8,000 to 10,000 ..at this point you can allow foreign rice into our ports and a tax of 50% this would take foreign rice to around 15k to 18k ... naturally foreign rice demand would die a natural death But instead of focusing on the cause of the problem they started treating symptoms The funny thing is that with all this my knowledge and illiterate aboki has better chance of being in a place to implement this policy than me and Igbo man ...and that's why Igbos want Biafra 4 Likes |

RiceProducers:Nigeria rice can now compete ? Milling was never the problem , they are only competitive because of the artificial inflated price ...allow free trade and see if they won't crash in 2 months Our seedlings are bad and need research and development ...Nigerians and focusing on symptoms and never root cause of the problem Smh 3 Likes |

It is either buhari dont listen to advice or he has bad advisers around him. The 2 policies are bad policies that drag the nation backwards instead of forward. The border closure increase the prices of food, despite the fact that we withness increase in rice production, the end products are mostly bad and expensive. What is the benefit and wisdom of local production when the local price is way much over the imported ones, local production are meant to be cheaper and easier accessible. On twitter, money was lost by government and youth during the closure , what has changed since government opened it. Buhari and his team are clueless, visionless. 1 Like |
