Nice. Bolt/Uber biz in Abuja, Lagos and PH is a very lucrative biz most people don't know or because the society make them to believe it's a job for illiterates. Most of my friends( 1st degree holders and Masters) do it and they're making good money, they make average of 10k/day excluding expenses (fuel, commissions etc). I see people earning 100k/months abusing bolt drivers, I just laugh.

I have finally resign from the banking job and I am very happy now with my earnings and freedom.

For me to resign I had to work as Bolt driver everyday I close from the bank and drive till 10pm and worked all through the weekends as a bolt driver, with this I was able to save 1million in short period of time and got loan of 1.5m to get another car.

So now my monthly savings after other expenses is 200k which I plan to pay back the loan in six month starting form this month.

I only work from Wednesday to Sunday every week now since I resigned.

Fola Adeola the founder of GTB bank now GTco had a Diploma in Accounting from Yaba tech, yet he was able to establish a bank which has become successful for over 30 years.

Its not your type of degree but your passion for continuous improvement and having the right foundation and information after you leave school. You have to look at what you can do in the long term cos you cant drive bolt for the rest of your life.
A business where everyone is into is going to will suffer profit decline, there are Poly graduates who are doing fine, study more dont just rely on your ND , HND, of BSC.

Well said. You guys are either poorly paid or you were entry level, either case, I am not contesting this as I have limited facts. However years ago as an SBE (Senior Banking Executive) my pay would not justify me leaving the job and doing Uber. The only issues i would have complained about are (1) humongous targets and (2) time constraints leading to lack of rest and stress. Please note, I was a back office staff (Legal Support Services). All in, whatever works. I was only clearing the fact that the OP was a contract staff (and his write-up also confirmed it).

Bank job na scam. Over glorified slavery especially as a contract staff. Even since I left in 2017 I have never regretted that decision.

Yes... pride ... the biggest problem facing graduates. I really admire OP for shoving pride to the side and facing reality... what makes sense... and then telling the world about it. Hopefully... this will motivate to sooooo many of our sit at home graduates to get up and fend for themselves.

Op I can relate to being a contract staff in banks, I almost lose my home cos of the job. I worked 7 to 11pm most times cos in my branch we were short staffed due to the selfish interest of my supervisors, two guys in my unit(operation) resigned and the supervisors refuse to request for replacement, my brother they overworked the tellers to the point that i had to resigned. Imagine a married woman with young kids returning from work almost 11pm everyday.. mehn bank job is not worth it even though I don't have anything doing now at least I have my peace.

A city where people live life on the fast lane...clubbing, drinking, smoking, booking hotels...

You know ball. People outside Lagos and Abuja are cashing out because of the lower cost of living, they can run many trips because traffic jam is very low or even absent, many people doing remote work prefer to stay outside major cities, clubbing and hotel business are also high.
I will advise anyone starting Bolt to try out other cities like Uyo, Makurdi, etc

Na online cab hailing apps. They are a means whereby passengers can book cabs online. You can get your car which will be checked out, ac, good engine, you submit some documents and you can start operation

I know a lawyer who closed down his chambers and start driving Bolt. He told me it was one of the best decisions he ever made.

Bolt is good but not a goldmine. At best, it should serve as plan B or an extra source of income. It can put food on your table but you need more than Bolt income to meet your needs. Don't be fooled. If you borrow money to buy a car for Bolt, you'll be disappointed and frustrated.

Wow. This is a very bold and courageous step. It takes more than a man to make tis kindda decision.

My own worry is the rapid fire increase in how bolt/Uber drivers are been targeted by armed robbers now.

How does one integrate security into this kindda business?

Look this doesn't matter at all. Be it contract or full time. The point is working from the back end doesn't in a bank doesn't pose much to u. U aren't asked to work during the weekends, u are probably not even given any target. As a well knowledged person in the operations(thank God I moved on from the slavery) you practically never have time for anything and u think being paid a paltry 250k as an ET is enough?

The man moved on from his banking job. This I admire seeing that if he makes a consistent 10k daily, that would land him minimum of 200k monthly assuming he doesn't want to be saving 100% his earnings. Alas! He would even make much more with alot of effort and God's grace and still have ample reserved time for other things. We must encourage big moves like this!

Now how many of the bank workers save that? (Remember am talking about savings). Most bankers don't even have up to 1/4 of their salary before the next payday.

80% are contract staffs that receive 30k to 60k monthly. Those front desk, like customer service and tellers all of them are contract staffs, some marketers too.

Bolt works in Akure. I started on Monday and it's been ok so far. I have a 2008 Honda Accord which I bought toks 7 months ago and it's what I'm using for bolt. It's not as fuel efficient as a Corolla or civic but it's what I have and I'm managingg it until I can get a civic. Bolt is very lucrative here in Akure because lots of people use it.
