Shebi you people are seeing what I've been warning you about. The negative effects of whataboutism, suddenly we have 10 pages discussing things that had absolutely nothing to do with Deborah's death. Such that even the terrorist apologetic has found succor in the deviation.

Whataboutism serves to only deflect from the issue on ground. When something bad is done, people who align with that bad deed will seek to divert your attention to something else. THE AIM IS ALWAYS TO MAKE IT APPEAR AS IF TWO WRONG MAKES A RIGHT
Eg, if you talk about the dangers of cybercrime, it's apologetics will begin to hammer on the corruption of politicians as a reason why. FALSE EQUIVALENCE.

Let's review exactly what has gone down in the last 3 days again so that someone can tell me again why we suddenly have 10 pages arguing origins of Christianity.

First, we hear that a girl has been beaten and burnt to death by her own classmates and countrymen. We are all shocked by this, we further see the video of the barbarity and watch with tears how her own classmates gleefully kill this helpless lady in the most despicable and tortuous method as done by a retrograde mob. We further see perpetrators gleefully take ownership of their hedonistic actions.

We seek to know what could inspire this entire seemingly well-groomed young group to engage in such hedonism and we're told she did the unthinkable by blaspheming against the prophet. At this point we know it's not right that someone is killed brutally for speaking ill of a man dead for thousands of years but we still wait eagerly to hear exactly what blasphemy is spoken of here. From the transliteration of the released audio, NOBODY CAN POINT OUT ANY BLASPHEMY UTTERED SO FAR

At this juncture, we should all be furious and angry that an innocent student has been murdered by her classmates for nothing and has become a victim of mass delusion and an ignorant and temperamental society. But instead of the mutual furore and sorrow that should be shared by all and sundry, we begin to see prominent personel voicing support for and backing the actions of the barbaric mob. We see a whole presidential candidate retract his condemnation for the barbarity and instead release a statement that he has fired his social media team and that the statement did not come from him.

This begins to give you a window into the minds of your fellow countrymen. One where even it's leaders are afraid of condemning evil when it has occurred and indirectly shows how pregnant the future is, with a potential of reoccurrence. When evil is not condemned, it is tacitly accepted.

So please can someone tell me again why we now have people arguing about Christianity in the case of Deborah?? I mean, for all we know she could even be an atheist, seeing as we see nothing of her engaging in a religious argument, she is simply telling people to stop making wrong use of a particular group platform.

WHATABOUTISM IS A DANGER TO HEALTHY DISCOURSE. Rather than us, a rough sample of the best young minds our country has to offer, sitting down to discuss ways and avenue by which we can at least try to enlighten our fellow countrymen and ourselves on unity and a utopian future and how we can achieve it, we painfully let the narrative be hijacked and diverted by unscrupulous elements with a cynical affinity with terrorists apologetics. Let's do better.

I sincerely don’t like atheists, lol.

I see them as confused people who take advantage of non-violent Christians to attack them. You’ll hardly see them attacking or countering Islamic beliefs, always Christians.

That’s why I don’t rate anyone that claims to be an atheist.
I don’t get why people assume that atheist are lenient to Muslims

I don't even know who Joseph Atwill is. I did my own research independently and extensively some years back and came to that conclusion.

If you say Yeshua was a real person, that's true according to my own findings. But if you say Jesus was a real person, I won't agree with you.

Jesus Christ is just an idea invented by Rome using the history of Yeshua, who was a giant man that existed in the homo erectus era.

Some Christians that don't know this fact tried to fast for forty days and forty nights (as a homo sapiens) like Jesus did in the Bible, which imperiled their health.

But they don't know that the Jesus himself is an idea (a word), which the clever writers of the Bible invented based on the history of a giant man (Yeshua) that lived in the old world, and his massive body could sustain the fast of forty days and forty nights.

Some of the miracles that Jesus supposedly did such as Yeshu's very loud voice, sharper sight and sharper hearing as a homo erectus were due to the natural abilities of the old human species. They were nothing supernatural or spiritual.

But others were illusions, tricks manipulating certain properties of nature.

If you follow research in archeology and paleontology, you can learn about the old (extinct) human species, especially homo erectus.
Rest in Jesus name.

“We proved four times this season that we can produce peak performances to compete with them at this kind of level. It showed in all results that we deserved and they could’ve gone in our way and could’ve gone in their way. We produced these peak performances against them.

“[We] have everything it takes to win trophies. We proved it [and] we have the Club World Cup and European Super Cup. I don’t feel sorry that this was the beginning of the season and winter.

“[We] can produce peak performances and we have the mentality in the club to shape the mentality of the players to have these peak performances but over the last years, Man City and Liverpool have proved you need to show that at a level of consistency we don’t have and that we have struggled with. So we need to find it, build it, create it.”
“While I will not promise victories, I will promise that we will deliver, heart, passion, commitment, and living up to the fullest and having no regrets.”

Isn’t it ironic that this type of killing occurred in an institution of learning (College of Education), a tertiary institution for that matter?

One would have expected an elevated level of maturity and engagement in managing the incident before it degenerated into the gruesome murder of the girl. But no, the result wasn’t any different compared to if it had happened on the streets of Sokoto or near the mosque.

So, no.. I don’t think much can be done until practical steps are taken to forestall such.

I don't honestly think anything can be done to forestall a future occurrence. I think the only solution is to part ways with those barbarians in the North.

Nigeria is a failed project.

Well, you can't really say "apart from online discussion". The world has now gone digital. Campaigns are now carried fully online. Just like, that terrorist sympathizer pilot that tweeted support for the mob has been fired for his tweet.
Using our Whatsapp status, Facebook pages, Twitter posts. We can all amplify our voices massively.

You know, you seek out online echo chambers and you try and burst their bubble.
I mean, this Deborah's issue really touches me badly because I know there is nothing wrong with what she did and that is something which a lot of us have the privilege of doing.

Sometimes in my own colleagues Whatsapp group, some over zealous christian people would post those silly messages that will tell you to pass the message to seven people so that you will receive God's grace and if you don't, God will do so and so, the way I dey take change am for them ehh, I'm now imagining being killed, for doing what everyone knows is right.

The world is now digital. We have a much wider reach than ever before and we should use it as much as we can.

You're largely right. But I think online discussion and engagement will only help with Nigerians in the South-West, South-East, and overseas.

A sizeable percentage of the North's densely populated people are not on Nairaland.

Even the educated ones with Internet access are too conservative. A good example is an intellectual like Amoto94.

Looking at his takes on this issue, you realize the situation is a dire one.

Thank you Nwanne

We have clearly deviated from the point and are talking about crossing lines

Why would someone post anything about Mohammed in an academic WhatsApp group? Does it make sense?

If Deborah had posted her religious stuff there, would her Muslim murderers have allowed it?

Suddenly it's blasphemy and a line that shouldn't be crossed.

Very useless set of people...

Islam is long overdue for a reform. But I don't see that happening in our lifetime.

A number of early Muslim philosophers and scientists had called for a reform of some key aspects of the religion, such as Avicenna (ibn Sinna).

But the Muslims murdered many of these early thinkers, including the ones in Egypt (just after it was invaded and conquered by Arabs), who urged the Islamic authorities to remove certain parts of Qur'an and Sunnah that are antihuman and barbaric.

I mean!! I'm still yet to see someone point out the so called "blasphemy".

For example, today I kept asking amoto94, if I called Mohammed a pedophile, am I blaspheming??
He just danced around the issue. Important to note that I am factually and technically correct.
Mohammed married a 6 year old kid and had sex with a 9 year old kid. That is pedophilia by definition. His actions have inspired such traditions like the picture below.

So tell me again, is it blasphemous for me to call Mohammed a pedophile? Who determines what is blasphemy and what did our sweet Deborah do that will justify her being burnt to crisps whether by mob or sharia court??

I share this feeling of hopelessness with you. Amoto94 is the most outspoken moslem here and he presents himself as well read, so for him to not be much different from the ones carrying bombs into churches is truly heartbreaking. It's them that even worsens the issue sef because they are best at polishing their words and vocalizing their dangerous ideology masked in deceitful tones. Have you seen his topics on his profile? He's a hardcore extreme fundamentalist.

I think that with time, more of them will hopefully become more exposed too. It's a question of time.

Funny enough, this is not the first time we're tackling this issue here.i remember that the last time we talked about this issue, it ended up degenerating into the nastiest fight I've ever had.

Funny that the issue is only becoming more and more proclaimed.

Your religion and it's legal adherents has just endorsed the legal death penalty of a man who "blasphemed". At least you are a reasonable and moderate Moslem, do you support their stance on this?
Do you think one should be legally killed for speaking against Mohammed?

After the reputational damages some folks here have suffered in my hands I knew all along they're all waiting for a perfect time to launch an assault against my person, this ugly incident provided an opportunity for all comers to have their pound of flesh. Those who were genuinely concerned I salute your sincerity and zeal for a better society but as for the usual suspects may you get what you all deserve, you don't latch on an ugly incident to settle scores no matter what.

Lols. It's a religious conspiracy to say Jehovah isn't the same entity as Allah?

It shows you don't know much about Jehovah, the God of the Bible, and Allah, the God of the Qur'an.

Well, I'm not surprised; most Christians I know don't know a lot about the Bible.

It's a historical fact that each of Allah, Jehovah, and El (or Elohim or El-Shaddai) has claimed the title of God Almighty in their religious text.

El had reigned before your religion was created.

You're merely reacting to my post emotionally. But anyone that researches the history of your religion will easily discover that Jesus Christ isn't a real person.

He's just an idea based on a real human that had lived in the past (extinct) world.

Otem Atum on the beat grin grin grin

It's an interesting but futile argument as the characteristics of Gods are figment of people's imagination and each culture will give God their own colouration.

Capaldi approach is factual, which is that Mohammed claims the same God as the Jews. It is all over the Quran.

Whether the Jews or Christians accept it is up to them. Of course they won't. But then the Jews won't accept the Trinity God of the Christians either.

You just brought in the Otem Atum angle to confuse the matter further grin
