I've tried FCT-SON before, I sat for their entrance exam, they didn't release our results. The school just release admission list. I was not admitted. (But now, I'm not interested in SON again cause I will eventually want to go back for my BNSc at the end of the day)

Even my friend that went to a private SON has gone back to the university for her degree through DE.

I don't want to pass through the stress of going to SON, then going to university again.

Thanks
You are welcome.
Although you are right anyway.
My sister and I have connections at OAU SON, because our parents are staff of the teaching hospital. So I might say that actually gives us a bit of edge over other neutral candidates.

That's where we find ourselves in these country, na who no who the door dey open for faster. Just prepare well for the p.utme, so that you can meet the cut off mark and hope God crowns ur effort with an unprecedented success.
What I can assure you is if by the time you finally enter uni to study nursing, you might encounter ups and downs, strike here and there, but once you graduate, you won't even suffer looking for job like other graduates. Even sef on your convocation ceremony day you will look back and it would be as if it was yesterday you gained the admission, all the stress of attending a public university in NIGERIA would be finally forgotten.

To be on the safer side, you need to target at least a score of 220 and above in JAMB so as for you to have a high chance of gaining admission into the Ladoke Akintola University Of Technology to study Nursing Science.

Don't be desperate bro.
That niggar sounds like a scammer.
Remember this is election period, don't go linking up with unknown person anyhow ooo...
Portharcot of all places, den of cultists is where some is saying he will help you out with such a low score. See the staff of that uni that told you that with that your score there is nothing that can be done is right. Don't trust this pennywise abi whatever his name is. Me sef that quoted lautech official page that said 220 and above and you are good to go for Nursing science knows that before you can be considered you must have connections, or probably be an indigene, since you said you are from the south west, hence my suggestion. So bro just be calm. And don't let anyone dupe you. Entering school shouldn't be a do or die something.

If you not careful, Last lass you go just miss your admission again. Just pick either OAU or UI teaching hospital complex (school of nursing), 4years degree course, full of practical experience that makes one confident in oneself as a certified nurse. School fee is #150,000 per session, the form is out. It's just #12k. They are not under ASUU. And you have a better prospect of traveling out to the UK for practice once you are able to pass the conversion exam.
It's not everybody that must go to university,
University isn't for everyone.
I wasted 7 year studying that yeye cramming course called pharmacy in OAU. See nursing has better prospect once you leave the tertiary institution and join the labour market. See Nurse's are hot cakes not like iranu pharmacy.
Happy sunday bro. Please how do i reach you? my kid sis is in lagos. she got 205 in jamb. so i have decided that she will go to a school of nursing in Lagos. i need someone who can help guide and tell her the process pls. you can drop your contact or i drop mine?

Am personally not friends with this young guy.

Hi, so sorry to bother you, but I would like you to be of a little help here.

And, please be sincere and honest with me, your say on this may shape a journey, once again, please be honest sir.

My questions:
=> Did you study pharmacy?
=> If yes, at OAU?
=> Was your result, I mean cumulative result good enough (above average)?
=> Are you unemployed (for the course you studied i.e pharmacy)?
=> Are there some of your colleagues currently unemployed, if yes, can you estimate an approximate percentage?
=> Is the proposed salary at job interview reflecting saturation in the field (i.e meager salary)?

Please sir, I have a friend whom I have advised to change his course to pharmacy, I wouldn't want to look like a devil to him few years to come when he ends up in a non-existent job market.

Thanks in anticipation, sir.

Your friend should go ahead and study the course irrespective of this guy's responses
Most times, outcomes are dependent on our inputs.
The least amongst the popular medical/health courses, especially in Nigeria, is Medical Rehabilitation

I studied pharmacy but didn't graduate, repeated a couple of times, had to quit at my penultimate year. I had no future with that profession. Pharmacy has never really been my thing. I hate cramming large dose of bulky contents. My dad forced me into studying pharmacy. Am a person who loves calculation and chemical engineering has always been my dream course by my dad refused that, that only destroyed our friendship till date... dad see pharmacy as a profession that you can start up with out waiting for government to employ you but engineering is about strong connection, which he feels he doesn't have. I wrote this year and I had 270 and physics was my highest score, shows I love calculations like mad. Am only considering OAU THC bcuz it won't waste my time much so that when I finish I can japa to Zambia work there as a nurse for two years max, get Zambia passport. And japa to the United States. Why won't I go to Zambia Nigerian passport is as useless as tissue paper, Zambia passport will open doors for you to work in the US. Although Nigerian password may still take u to the UK with your nursing degree Sha. But am not a fan of the UK. Being in the US will help recover all wasted years of suffering I endured studying pharmacy.
Some of my pharmacy colleagues got places in community pharmacies as pharmacist and are getting well paid like let me say #75-120k per month depending on the location as regards how market dey move for the side. Most dint get placement at hospitals if not their pay would have been between #120-150k as starters.
See pharmacy is for intelligent crammers not stupid and senseless crammers, that will just be cramming all the materials without deep reflection on what you believe the lecturer would really want you to focus on from the whole material. In pharmacy you can't have time for your sef, the no of labs in a week is enough for you to breakdown, I feel sick countless times dues to overstressing my self cramming beyond what my brain can retain. So I had to drop out and find my calling. So I took another jamb and filled in school of nursing.
If your friend Sabi cram, he won't repeat stall bt may result some courses and if he reads well he will pass the resisted courses and promote with his classmates to the next class, max no of courses you are allowed to resit is 3 subjects, if after resit results are out and your failed just one pere, you go repeat. And if you are already on repeat before, Dem go withdraw the person with No mercy.
If your friend come Sabi cram and also Sabi calculate especially all those pharmchem courses, he will be on distinction. If he doesn't know how to calculate, then he should be ready to link up with colleague's that Sabi calculation, that one go still make am for pharmacy. But if cramming is your problem abeg no go pharmacy ooo. You won't just graduate. You fit like repeat each class two times na you Sabi. Spend nine years and in your finals your project defense or overall performance is poor, you are going home if you fail part 5 twice, hence you here of pharmacy students committing suicide even after getting to their final year. As have said you will see a botany students having 4.0. cgpa in year one who couldn't meet pharmacy utme cut-off mark but crossed over to pharmacy in year two and still lead us all and finish with distinction, why, it's bcuz she Sabi cram book die(does kind ppl wey fit cram Bible from Genesis to revelation). But person wey score 300 for inside jamb enter pharmacy after part 1, the person was on 4.00 only to get to part two and performance started dropping. Maybe due to lab stress and wahala of having to write lab note for about 5 or 6 different lab you will have in a week and still want to be social and still add church activities then maybe school politics, my brother na for that year two Dem go chase such student commot. Why? bcuz he can not cram like the botany student who can cram a 39 pages pharmacognosy material from Pali to pali.
Let me confess.
I knew in my last year in pharmacy I felt like my brain was failing me, and I just read more and more, sleep only for two hours out of 24 hours in a day, I grew slimmer and ended up muddling things up in the exam Hall due to restlessness and lack of enough sleep. Going blank in major exams I read so hard for. So I knew within my self before results came out that am going no where with the nonsense have written in my exams so I went to take another jamb. So when results came out and I failed I wasn't even surprised. My parents even already forgotten they have a son in pharmacy since they have started doubting if if I will ever graduate due to repeating a class everytime. But it's doesn't concern me. they don't pay my school fees I trained my self in school, I run a pig poultry farm with my own money, so going back to school to study nursing is my choice. My biggest motivation is this as long as I don't have a Nigerian girl as girlfriend or any woman in my life. My finance is safe, my business is bumming. And no girl(leach) would pressure me into committing myself to marriage. So I can easily go back to school without feeling as if am wasting somebody's daughters time without marring her. Also my parents can't say shit to me about marriage to me since dey don't pay my bills. Marriage will happen when I reach the US not now. Am still a virgin and have never had a girlfriend, so it's easier for me to archive all these my aspirations with out any distraction (Nigerian girl).

Wow, sir, you're great.

Thanks for this open, honest and sincere response.

I also have to commend your good and persevering spirit.

I'll just copy some of the key lines and send it to him, especially those of school and study life, if he's up to it.

Once again thanks for your openness.

Wishing you the best in your new quest.

(By the way, one's father is always one's father. Everyone makes mistake, sometimes easily redeemable, other times not so easily redeemable.
Forgiveness is the key to happiness, you forgiving yourself to begin a new journey should also be you forgiving your dad to begin a new and informed relationship.

As much as I don't like interfering with other people's personal lives, I just can't resist telling you this: Your dad did that not because he hates you, but because he wanted the best for you.

He thought, the way same he had to force your little self to go to crèche and kindergarten against your will (as with every other younglings), with the end result being you graduating from the high school as one of the best brains, could still apply.

He only wanted what is best for you. My friends elder brother was a graduate of chemical engineering, his dad? A senior medical consultant, a very influential one in fact. And with all the family prowess, this young man had to search for job in and out of the country, from Lagos to Ibadan for months before he could find a place to hang onto.

That's a graduate with a very influential father, so your dad might have seen incidents like this before concluding you had to go for pharmacy.

My point, all this rigmarole of mine is just to try and explain to you in my little knowledge of families that your dad wanted the best for you, it just didn't work out as he had foreseen.

Now what I want? Okay, it's a very simple wish of mine, which needs an approval of yours: By this time tomorrow, I want your news of family reunion to have hit the front page wink)

Thank you sir.
thanks also for your input. I got one or two things I picked up from it. I really don't have issues with him anymore. Just dat he feels bad dat he held me against my wish. Since he has come to this realization am kul with that. My decision to pay my school fee my self is because he knows am capable of paying it myself. He himself set up the poultry for me years ago before I gained admission into OAU. He bought me the land I use. So if I have the money to pay for my school fee today it's still all because of his investment in me. Am even at his place discussing how he can give me money to get a tokumbo pick up so I can use it for supply of crates of eggs to my costumers, since the small golf car i use has many problems. And he's surely going to give it to me. Thanks once again.
I might not create any topic Sha, I don't know why I don't fancy being on the front page.

radiographers dey get job for Nigeria Wella... This is why............Radiographers are not all fat salary earners. However, the opportunities to achieve your short term and long term goals abound.
The opportunities begin with recognition given to them. Notice how radiographers Youth Corpers are treated during the service year. They are most likely to be give accommodation by the authorities whether in the city or in a remote village! Even Doctor Corpers may end up having to fend for himself. Am not sure of nurses.
Other opportunities are from the fact that their services are perpetually in demand whereas the personnel are always few. Even where a lab technician or an expert radiologist is present, and they know how to carry out every diagnostic procedure, they MUST NOT carry out any radiographic diagnostic procedure unless by that qualified radiographer.
The cost of an education in radiography is the same as medical lab tech or science. The practice is guarded and regulated by an association of radiographers with a radiographers registration council. This means every radiographer is documented and licenced to practice radiography in Nigeria. This of course has resulted in a well protected profession in Nigeria and all over the world. Not all radiographers have to practice in an hospital environment. There are consultants, administrators, educators and other assignments to be taken up. All of this people MUST be licenced radiographers.
Radiography practice is also gender friendly and gender neutral. There is no bias often associated with engineering, aircraft pilots or nursing.
So while many are busy crying about job hunting, job insecurity waisted number of years searching for employment, admissions or traveling abroad just consider radiography, a profession often overlooked because it remains relatively unknown.

Unlike the competition for Nursing, graduates in this field getting jobs in Federal hospitals is very tight(connection things), although the best of the best still lands the job, hence most settle for private hospitals and end up been paid peanuts, or others strife to get jobs at state hospitals and end up been owned salaries. As long as it isn't UNITED STATE OF AMERICA u plan to japa to, traveling to may UK, canada, UAE and the rest where nurses are hot cakes, hence are more valued overseas. For radiography UK won't even give u visa since you are carrying a Nigerian passport. Reason is this.... [b]The United Kingdom is set to begin issuance of a new visa that allows holders of first degrees, masters, and doctorates to travel to the country and work in fields such as science, technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship by May 30,2022.
The visa – high potential individual visa, allows applicants to relocate to the UK without a prior job offer or sponsorship. Meanwhile, some of the requirements exempted those who graduated from Nigerian universities.
The UK government had said that in order to qualify for the HPI visa, applicants needed to have been awarded a degree from an overseas university. The university has to be one of the top global universities as published in the global universities list by the Home Office.
The government noted that the list would be compiled annually and would comprise institutions included in the list of the top 50 universities in at least two of the following ranking systems: Times Higher Education World University rankings, Quacquarelli Symonds World University rankings, and the Academic Ranking of the World Universities.
Also, the applicants must have been awarded a degree, equivalent to or not less than a UK bachelor’s degree.
Meanwhile, checks showed that Nigerian universities do not appear in any of these global rankings.
The UK had been one of the choice destinations for many Nigerians seeking to relocate abroad for academic and work purposes.

I wouldn't know how this happened, but I think is divine Providence.
Because what you highlight here is the answer to the question bothering me all these while.
.
I have almost 100% similar situation as yours, but the fact is that I'm confused right now.
.
Okay, take a cursory look at my own version.
.
I finished sec school 2015... So I faced alot of challenges with my waec, then finally I overcame it 2018 and I processed mbbs. Had 300 jamb score but couldn't beat the cutoff Mark. Tried again in 2019, had 316 and couldn't get in cos I miss the cutoff by 0.35 mark. All in u.i...
.
I've made mistakes. I've made many bad decisions. I couldn't think like a normal being a day. I keep regretting the past... Had I known, I should have just taken dentistry or better still nursing during these period but pride won't let me... I was so mad with mbbs or nothing.
Now I felt the hurt. I felt the pain as my trajectory is going towards the path I never dreamt of.
.
Ok, 2020 due to my long stay at home, I was influenced by my mum's pastor who happened to be my proprietor at sec school to choose an engineering course. Probably cos am extremely good at maths in sec school and engineering is quite easier to enter... I was given admission, now in 100l...but deep down in me, I know that I've chose the wrong path.
I can't for one day see any future in engineering. All odds are against me. My age is an enemy to employment. There is nothing awaits me after school.
.
And to make it worst, now that I have lost one of my parents. The workload is now too much on me.i will have to cater for myself while at school now. This will really hinder my grade. And affect me in labour market..
I felt sorry for myself. What seems to be a brilliant kid with a bright future then I now seen as object of gigantic failure.
.
What I believe is that engineering is not worth me wasting all this year's. It would have been better I go learn skill that will be profitable to me and make me independent.
The suggestion that came to my mind was that the skill must be learnt in a school setting. And the perfect match for this was school of nursing.
.
Now, I'm planning to quit engineering and go to school of nursing. I should have chosen nursing science at uni, but time is against me.
Now, I will have to sponsor myself...
So, I want to quit this engineering and spend the remaining months and work for money which I will use to sponsor myself through the school of nursing.
.
Yes, my goal of choosing nursing is to actualize my dream of Japa... I just want to leave this corrupt system. I don't intend to study nursing and stay practicing here in Nigeria. Though that is plan B.
.
So my core reason Is to japa. And mind you. I'm okay with UK as far as I can move over. And if can possibly move to any African countries that will pay well. I can also manage that.
.
So my plan is to make it to UK then do conversation program to bscn nursing. Which is one year program unlike here in Nigeria that it is 4 years. I know alot about migrating to UK as Nigeria nurse.cos I duly follow the thread by barbiee on this nairaland and I've also made my own research on it too.
.
I want to go through SON and leave the system on time. But now, after some research that I made on school of nursing, I became discouraged... Now that some schools are transiting from mere RN licensing to HND awarding college, thereby making the process longer. For e.g obth college of nursing is now HND four years course plus one year of internship + one year of nysc. Omo, it's too long for my eyes oo. That is almost tantamount to the nursing science with only one year difference.
So I decided to just stick to school that still offer the normal SON 3yrs.
.
But now am scared if it will not be obsolete by the time I finished the study... Im scared if I may not be allowed to practice if I go through it. And I'm scared if UK decided to change their mind and make bsc nursing the Mimimum requirements to work in their country just like the us,Canada and Russia are doing...
Im scared so that I won't just goand waist that 3 years. I'm almost 25 this year.
.
I only just want to choose son cos it guarantee me flying out... But I'm always scared if the system might change.
.
.
If am to go to nursing direct. Mhen nah to go become old man be that. Coupled with brother ASUU action.
And now being the first born I have to take care of my younger ones and my aged parent. So i am not for myself. I need to do things fast to help this people. If am slack, I'm scared things might go out of hand for them.
.
.
I know that some of my assumptions might be wrong, that is why I came to you. How I got to met you is only a miracle.
Pls can you advice or enlighten me more.
.
.
And again pls what's the jobs prospect of rn nursing in government hospitals. Do they stand any chance of being employed at all?
And is their pay not far less below their contemporary bsc holders?
.
I'm open to your idea. And I wouldnt mind if we can meet over social media.

Direct entry into another university would have saved you but an engineering transcript won't meet the requirements for nursing science in Nigerian universities, since it's not an health related profession. Even 3years Registered nursing program stand a better chance.
I came to realize that no SON will do conversation of their traditional 3 program to 4 years that equals to BNS, it's HND they can offer you at best. With that sef you can still japa, but you don't have to go through Nigeria. Why? Bsc nurses that want to japa sef plenty, so just find any ecowas nation of international reputation, work there for two years, and your japa process will be easier. But with HND in nursing if you stay back to work in our obodo naija teaching hospitals here in naija, they will frustrate you, and this is the date of such person.... ( When Your academic journey has finally come to an end. You’re done with your nursing HND or midwifery or registered nurse. Here is the picture of what is to come. What is next in the labor market or at work?

Experience has shown that graduates of universities are senior officers above those who completed RN only - or together with RM or even does with the newly introduce HND nursing.
This means, if we have a staff with HND or the traditional RN and RM (or together) who had been working for ten years or more, she will eventually be a subordinate or junior colleague to new staff with BSC Nursing. That's the sad reality, as I was informed by a RN staff yesterday. So japa option remains tied on you leaving naija first.
But if you feel it's not worth it you can start hustling even as a student( (1) you can create your website look for what will keep bringing ppl back to your blog and venture into that eg myschool gist.com for example that get Google AdSense and run a monetized website for advertisement also, you can as well run a YouTube channel interacting with your loyal readers from your blog from time to time and make some dollars from that pending on the level of views, like and share up get. in short, if you are not a problem solver don't go into blogging business, we have lots of hopeless bloggers out there. (2) Freelance Writing....If you are good with writing articles or short stories, you should consider sending in applications to write for online blogs or even magazine publications. The beauty of freelance is that you can choose a schedule that is most convenient to you. You can also work for many different corporations at the same time and be paid. This way you are in total control of when to take jobs and when not to, so it does not clash with your school work)
and with it still aim for better cgpa in your chosen engineering field. Then save up/ apply for scholarship to do your master in UK. That will enhance your chance to get a lecturing job(lecturer 1) back home in Nigeria. Bcuz dose white no send our engineering masters degree holders, and won't give them any job, that even if Nigerians will still be giving us study/student visa to come over for post graduate program (fraud has really dent our image on the global scene; I will rather I hold a Zambia passport that a Nigerian passport walai). I hope you pick one or two things from my write-up, in conclusion am only going back to school to pick up the HND degree, leave this country and work in any Federal hospital in Zambia for two years, pick up their nationality/Zambia passport and my US Visa will be issued to me sharp sharp, getting a health job in the almighty US will be much easier, then when I get the job I will enroll for a one year conversation course into bachelor of nursing science(US), so that my degree won't become obsolete in the nearest future, hence avoiding being unnecessary layed off.. Not everyone must marry an old white ancestor all in the name of japa from the shit hole called naija where it's looking like tinubu will rule us for the next 8 year's( I know the old man is sick; hence does pushing him to run want to rule this country by proxy{behind the scene}).

.
Hmmm... Thanks for this sir.
.
At first, engineering is not glamorous has we painted it. The fee to sponsor oneself for msc in western countries is even enough to to establish a big business. Where would one get that money?
And the easiest route one can take is through scholarship, but getting that Is like a camel passing through a needle.
.
Infact to be factual, there is nothing available for engineering student in the labour market, except if that student can be patient to wait for like 5 years searching for job... This sucks me whenever I think about it. I felt depressed and discouraged at it.... I ever regret picking engineering at such a critical moment of life.
.
As for rn nursing, I don't care if my junior of less than 10yrs having bsc is promoted over me. Inasmuch as I am employed and I'm payed I don't care about anybody position. My aim is to get little experience and Japa.
But what scares me about the rn nursing is that are they gainfully employed like the bsc nursing? If yes then I don't care about position. I dont even want to care about what people say again. I see all those saying as deceit and poisons. That was how I was told then that nursing is a no go area that they are slaves to doctors. That no matter the year they spend in the hospital, a junior doctor will be ranked above them... What's my business with that?
This is how they polited my heart and make me loose the opportunity of choosing nursing then.
.
Now am after getting employed and paid well. Am less concern about what superiority has to do. Inasmuch as my aim is to japa. I don't care about superiority.
.
And nursing itself is a skill, you can decide to be independent and set up your own clinic, if you have the capital.
But with a b.eng, na only theory you will be thought, no practical knowledge... Engineering students are fashioned to seek for job but never to be independent. Except those that want to establish outside the scope of engineering.... engineering Is a pure scam.
.
And wait, instead of the years I will go do master, why can't I use it to go for bsc nursing once and for all.
And by the way if I finished the master and come here for msc, the inferiority complex will set in as I will always be a subordinate to PhD holders. Then there will be another quest for schooling again. That is too much for my age.
.
And for learning skill, I've been doing that. But they are easier said than done. Blogging, freelancing, web design or whatever are all saturated too.
.
If rn nursing might not provide me a job. Then I think I would rather go for bsc nursing instead of wasting my time on engineering course that will add no value nor skill on me. Only to be solving complex engineering maths and mechanics that add no value or money to life.
.
I must confessed. The fact is that I'm confused and totally depressed. I hardly sleep these days, I keep thinking and th of way out...
Sometimes i look at my junior junior who learn handwork doing well and making cool cash and here I am that I can't even get myself a decent dress... I cant continue the way. I'm just confused!!!!

Here part one you get to put on your uniform from the start of the program (about 3 different uniforms they use)...u get the opportunity to go straight to your professional courses at 100 level, Just dat year one will be full on basics in anatomy and physiology.
Oh wow,,that's good. I never knew about the 4 year program. I'll enquire about schools that run HND nursing here in Lagos.
Thanks for this info

Hi, so sorry to bother you, but I would like you to be of a little help here.

And, please be sincere and honest with me, your say on this may shape a journey, once again, please be honest sir.

My questions:
=> Did you study pharmacy?
=> If yes, at OAU?

Pharmacy is good but most of them end up as sales reps in pharmaceutical companies, unless your friend is well connected he might get something better.
If ur friend is a lady readvise her to go study Nursing. Nursing is hot cake now and highly in demand both here in Nigeria and abroad.

JimmySwaggart:

Hahahahahaha....I don laf tire here. See as you finish this course, Chimoo...
Well, now you have a better plans for yourself I wish you luck and yes, nursing will pay u well.

Hello sir, reading your ordeal as regards admission to your preferred course, I will like to drop this:

I hope you find something to pick from it.

Seeing your age at present and the psychological state that you are as you've said here, it will not be advisable that you directly quit your present course. Quitting it while you have not gotten your desired course can make you to be further confused and depressed...

Here is it, your best option is still medicine or nursing.
With either of the two, your age will most likely not affect your chance of getting job after your study.

But this is what you can do, while still in engineering you can register for next year Jamb and pick either Medicine or Nursing in Federal University (Federal university because the financial implications will not be much, but if there is still money, you can pick state university). Then prepare to score very very high in the jamb and study the admission structure of the school that you apply for and prepare well for post-utme and pray too.

Also, because of time you can consider the SON option too, but please make sure you think through and think right before you make the final decision.

Though federal school may seems slow because of ASUU strike but in the long run the years will pass. Except if you can afford private or state university.

Once, you are able to secure admission for your preferred course you will most likely forget the pain of the past or the pain will not have effect even if you still remember it.

At this point, you don't need to be disturbed, depressed or confused. You need to make sure you think straight so that you can make the best choice.

My own case,
I finished secondary school in 2012, I have to spent some years to have my O'level results and I finally get admission to U I with 2018 JAMB. (Finished secondary school in 2012 and gain admission with 2018 JAMB)

I am currently studying MBBS in U I.

Any max age limit?
. Minimum; 16years
No maximum age limit, but you won't go for NYSC if you are more than 30years of age.
