I remember when two boys in our BQ got sent home from state primary because teacher said they must bring toilet roll for him/her before they can attend. I couldn't comprehend it. Then imagine the primary school in the village and those in the North etc.

Govt has no business with tertiary beyond potentially providing loans, but has every business with primary and secondary and standardisation of learning across the country up till the age of 16. These ensure a decently educated populace upon which to base economic activity and true democracy. Not the one Imam can tell Almajiri anything at election time and he can't think for himself and assess the options before him.

State governments run public secondary schools and primary schools owned and funded by the respective states .

FG only run few secondary schools ( at most 3 in each states of the federation ) . FG does not run primary schools ( to the best of my knowledge )

Another dude was forging expense claims. Once he was caught his entire paper trail was spooled out. You can commit fraud in any system, but you can't do the normal burning of records office in this case.

Anyone who has worked in an enterprise environment with an enterprise payroll system will honestly have been embarrassed by ASUU's claims

You get courage sha. In our school when results are released they don't use PASS or FAIL.

They use "THOSE WHO HAVE SATISFIED THE EXAMINER" and "THOSE WHO HAVE NOT SATISFIED THE EXAMINER", meaning theoretically you can answer questions correctly and not satisfy the examiner. After all who is to tell a man what satisfies him and what does not.

There was a lecturer who kept failing his own son because of beef with the boy's mother. Funny thing is both father and mother were Profs in the school but not together. All the senior lecturers and Profs kept begging the man but he said the boy had not satisfied him. Case closed.

ASUU members had complained of a series of unexpected deductions from their salary. During some months in 2020, lecturers were complaining that some professors received a pay of less than 100,000 naira via IPPIS.

Did you hear about those complaints? They said the deductions were too much and unusual.

I think the demands of ASUU members are genuine and the strike (though painful for Nigerian students) is justified.

Primary and secondary education falls under the preview of LG/SG. Even that the FG still has UBEC (Universal Basic Education Commission) that assist state in that regard.
