The fact that u have enough publications and professional bodies does not a guarantee the award.

Some will say publications are important, others will say they did not ask for it. I'm confused.

How many industry experience do u have after graduation?
Because of asking you for partial or full scholarship.

My experience as I had my interview today.

First mail said my interview was on 31st. This was from ptdf.

The second was from Microsoft Team on 22nd with the link saying it was on 27th 12:30.

The third came in on 25th saying maintaining 27th as my interview date but changed my time to 10 am.

I did it with my phone on the app already downloaded.

I logged in at 9:55 am and the interview came up at 9:57 am. Along the line, a call came in and disrupted my network. I couldn't reconnect again after trying. So I had to wait until 10:50 am. I sadly logged out and was asking why the person has to call that time.

Since I have another invitation by 12:30 pm, I logged in again at 12:15 pm and was waiting in the lobby. Thank God I got ushered in again and I had my interview this time successfully. It was about 6 minutes.

Questions:
Introduce yourself
Do you want a fully funded or partial funding
What course do you want to study and the relevance in oil and gas.
Pick one problem in your chosen field and how it can be solved.
Do you belong to any professional body?
They also asked me to share the last part of my transcript.

My Advice:
Have a picture of your documents for easy sharing as you can share pdf files.
If you are having multiple dates and time, start your login from the first date and time and wait until about 45 minutes later. If unattended to, login again at a later time and date.

I flew in to Abuja this morning from Lagos with 0630am flight and I was at the venue by 0930. My interview was scheduled for 1030am but we were all allowed to sit orderly in the auditorium and they were attending to us in the order you arrived.

I stepped out to visit a friend around knowing fully well I will use his Colour printer to print some document and I was back by 1050am. My interview started 11:10am and my questions were:
What is your name,
Which state, local govt?

They then asked me to submit my Documents in this order, First Degree, NYSC and O Level.
For the O Level, I gave them my NECO and the guy spotted my WAEC and asked for it. I explained to them that there was D7 in the WAEC that was why I am not using it. And he said thank God I brought it cos I can combine the results. They picked all the distinction on my WAEC and picked the other high grade on the NECO.

Afterwards, I was asked me to summarize my Statements of Purpose in two(2) minutes. One of the interviewer underline a statement on my statement of purpose where I was talking about my long term goals of developing the Nigerian Navy Cyber Security department. I shall told him the Nigerian Navy provide security to the oil platforms and all.

I was then asked for my professional bodies certificate, I gave them 4. Computer Professionals of Nigeria (CPN), Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), Cyber Security Expert Association of Nigeria (CSEAN) and National Institute of Management (NIM).

They asked why I choose the particular University on my application.

Lastly, I was asked the nature of my job in the Navy.

I wasn’t asked of any publication but I have one with me and I also have some of my awards but I wasn’t asked. They just told me best of luck and I told them thank you and left.

My Opinion: Seeing the multitude of people that came for the interview and knowing they are picking just 4 per state then you need prayers and God‘s Grace to pull this one through.
You can just wear Kaftan or sew up and down in Abuja center, they didn’t even comment on the dressing.

Sure all government approved bodies should have and not all those private ones..He insisted that being under any government aporoved membership and as a paid member, your ID card will indicate the number and type of membership status it carries i.e. student, associate,professional, executive member etc.he also asked if what i wanted is part or full scholarship .. i was like Part like how i answered Full scholarship..

Based on the politics comment, have you seen the PTDF alumni(MSc and Ph.D) list?

I hope things are different this year.. I mean really different...

The head of the programme said he last time, it 3 people from each state were picked for MSc and 2 for Ph.D.
Said budget constraints might affect this year and nothing was certain about him many will be picked.
Nothing is certain.

So no need for anyone to bother his or herself for nothing

I still have not received and my interview is for Thursday next week.

Hi everyone, just thought I should share my thoughts.
First, someone might be the best in his or her tate and not still be awarded. My take is, do your best and pray for favour because the kind of crowd that is out there..and the factors that comes in the selection criteria, they themselves don't know who they will pick based on the scores alone.
This is because. 1. Everyone cannot study the same course, If some electrical engineers are selected in Edo state, then Mechanical might be selected in Rivers irrespective of an electrical based person having the highest score in Rivers. The field must be evenly distributed, just pray that the distribution favours you. Now, in your particular state, if the top 5 wants to study renewable energy, they can't carry all of them because they score highest, this is where another factor, even distribution comes in, they might probably carry only the first renewable energy person, then pick 6th position which is a computing person then another which might be Oil and gas laws, stuffs like that.

Just pray for favour, interview and publications alone will not be enough.

I applied IT Cybersecurity in University of Glasgow and had my ptdf interview in UI.

Someone had dropped the link of the national daily that carry the news here. According to the news, 26,000 applications were received and 8,800 applicants were shortlisted for interview.

Guy why? So what if people reveal their interview experiences? Have you forgotten that awards are based on state quota that you're so concerned that someone may get and you that "deserve" it won't. Besides the questions asked in the interview is basically the same for everyone nationwide "relevance of your course to oil and gas". In fact your secret format may even be the outdated 2018/19 format that's know to everyone. Publications are now not needed for MSc, hence your format is invalid. Peace!

Guys, don't think too much about the interview, they can ask you anything, just be calm and give them your best answer, no one know exactly how they'll pick, anyone could get lucky.

I personally think its absurd to ask undergraduate for publications ( yes I know some people have it, and I'm happy for them).

Try and do your interview early in the morning if you can. Most of those who did 2 minutes interview where those lecturers are tired so they do not ask for documents like just formality.


It is easier to win PhD too as few candidates apply for it.

I normally don't care about anyone else's success or lack thereof, but I have to tell you based on your comment history here, I'm going to experience a lot of schadenfreude when you don't win.

PS, I'm from the north, multiple publications and memberships, first class degree, good Olevels, I've still striked out multiple times. If you think your wits and your botched statistics will get you this scholarship, you are in for a rude awakening.
