Since I spend a lot of my free time on TikTok, I couldn’t help but notice the rate at which most of these Karen’s clamoured for equality. Most of these ladies were so toxic with their demands and speculations that it left me (who usually never cares) shocked.

Then I realized I have never really had any feminist discussion with any Nigerian lady and then I had discussions with quite a lot of them and noticed that there was a particular way most Nigerian girls view this Feminism movement and I’d term it SELECTIVE FEMINISM

In these discussions, These ladies wanted to be equal to men in everything (equal pay, equal social standards and what not). All of which are actually the goals of Feminism but then they get super defensive when the concept of feminism doesn’t seem to Favour them.

They only seemed to claim to be feminists when matters that would benefit was the topic but when it came to DOING THE SAME WORKLOAD to earn equal pay - They’d claim that their bodies were weaker and that the men who chose to do heavier jobs just didn’t have other alternatives!

When it came to relationships... They did not see the need to clean and cook for their man but still wanted the man to do the usuals (drop money and get so many gifts) and they feel justified in this sentence “WHY WOULD I BUY A MAN A GIFT OF SPEND ON HIM?” Or claim that the average man’s ego will not let him accept anything from them..... I have never seen a man reject a little gift from his girlfriend though.

When it came to involuntary military service that some men had to face in their countries. They claimed it was (albeit insensitive) not happening in their country and it was the cup of tea of the men in those countries while also claiming their women were holding the fort! How? By breathing and cleaning the house? Things they’d still do if they lived alone.

Then, the most amazing part was the fact that these ladies seemed to be believe natural factors they had to face like childbirth, weaker bodies and menstruation were one of the reasons they had to just be equal!

Basically, A large majority of these girls were misandrists and wanted to get all the privileges of being a man and still wanted to be treated like women! How in the world?? A lot of these discussions took thousands of my brain cells down as they were caught in crossfires of gross toxicity, irrationality and insensitivity.

While a few of them were very reasonable and even earned my respect, most of them did not even know what it was to be a total feminist and only selected the sweet parts of feminism or were just plain misandrist!

Like I said in another thread, all of you will be fine, the earlier you guys realise that a female movement is for the betterment and inclusion of females in every sphere of life, the better for you.

A movement that is not even recognised in Nigeria, is what is giving most of y'all heart attack like the government is about adding it into the constitution or adjusting it like it is applicable and acceptable in western countries, when there are so many ills in the country right now, and yet you people keep crying and wailing over it, concern yourselves in getting solutions to the negativities everywhere, then when or if feminism sees the light of day, your wailing may be heard, which is actually never cos of the high handedness of naija men and religion.

If the Nigerian ladies you've met are practicing selective feminism, or e g according to you, they refused to wash and cook for a boyfriend but want money and other privileges, then you have misplaced priorities, concern yourself with the happenings and ills in Nigeria, the movement is not about to be added to the Nigerian constitution, and leave people to navigate their relationships as they see fit, no one forces anyone in the type of relationship they venture into, very simple, hence my previous comment, get it?

Seems romance section males can't sleep well at night without negativities on ladies.

Women do not seek to be equal to men physically, feminists are not olodos they know that physically a woman cannot be equal to a man.

In situations where they cry for equality is when for example a man and a woman are doing the same job in a company or organization but the man is paid higher simply because he's a man. Any one with half a brain will know that this is not fair at all.

The bolded was my first thought reading through op's post. It's evident this original poster has no indepth understanding of what he wishes to oppose. There's no where, where men and women who do EXACTLY the same job, work the same amount of time and achieve the same results are paid differently, NOWHERE!

People are paid on the basis of PRODUCTIVITY, if you're paid less, it's not because you're a woman, but it's because you're not PRODUCTIVE, go and work on yourself!!!
